Aloha Warehouse is a family run business in San Francisco, California. Forever homesick for the flavors and comforts of home, the Dang ‘Ohana got together and started working the local craft fair circuit selling island products and home made island bath and body works since 1995.

In 2005, the Dang Ohana had an opportunity to pool our resources and open a storefront in Japantown San Francisco. Our mission is to run a business that is community oriented, that strives to spread the message of keeping aloha in our hearts and to make our parents, Albert Ah Wah Dang, born on the Pu‘unene Plantation, Maui proud as he looks down on us from above. Last year we lost our Mom, Hsing Tzu Dang to cancer, as our parents are now resting together for eternity in Kaneohe, HI.

Get your fresh flower leis, here! I made my second purchase last month. Before I ordered it I shared my situation of having to take the lei with me to Texas. The problem was, the event was not until three days later. Aloha warehouse assured me the orchid lei would survive. I followed their directions exactly. Voila! The lei was perfect.
I’ve had experiences where mail order leis from Hawaii did not make it to the destination in time. Plus, it’s so expensive. Get it on time, in good condition and at a good price. Shop Aloha warehouse!

The fam bam & I have been longtime fans of Aloha Warehouse’s selection of li hing treats (dried plum, mangoes, & sour candies), but my recent lei-​buying experience spurred me to finally review their business.
Short on time & patience in the days leading up to her graduation, I’m grateful for the seamless process of ordering & obtaining my purchases from AW. I placed my order on the phone after picking which leis we wanted for her on their website, & for a reasonable $ 15, they were delivered to my door the night before I needed them. Someone was always available to answer questions, help me modify my order, & make suggestions.
Few notes:
– leis are not a closed circle, there are two ribbons on the end you have to tie. Nice if you want to adjust their length, inconvenient if you realize this only moments before placing them around the graduate’s neck.
– some flowers are fed exed from Hawaii, while others are from a local distributor. If you require your lei in the morning, they may not have a delivery person available and/​or the fed ex shipment might be late. Something to keep in mind when planning date of pickup or delivery.
Prices are on par with (if not a bit more competitive than) other establishments we’ve bought from previously; however, when comparing websites, AW has less selection (though there may be more to choose from in-​store.)

Ordered four regular mock style maile leis, an additional maile lei with flower accent, and five additional leis.
We placed our order one month prior to the wedding and picked up two days prior to wedding day. The leis held up really well in the refrigerator and were just as beautiful on the day of the wedding.

A month ago I was looking to upgrade to a (much) better ukulele. I was pleased to find a uke specialty shop right in Japan Town. The owners are kind, knowledgeable, and patient. I received some really useful advice about which ukulele to pick for the price range I was looking for. I ended up coming every week for about a month to play around for an hour or so. The owners were good about giving me space and letting me take my time.
I ended up getting a kanile’a (!!!). I’m very happy with the purchase. I plan to go back to get a pickup installed. (If you bought the uke there, installation is free).
There are a lot of online options when it comes to buying ukes, but i found the personal attention and the chance to try out the instruments in person essential.

I’ve been playing ukulele for about four years now, and I decided it was time to treat myself to a nicer instrument. I walked into Aloha and was immediately greeted with warm smiles, even though the family was going through quite an emotional hardship at the time. Props to ‘em. I described what I was looking for with, like four words, and the woman helping me picked out 3 ukes that might be good. They were all perfect for what I was looking for. She totally nailed it. They let me try out each of them (even some of the super nice and expensive ones) before I settled on my beautiful new musical friend. Perfect experience. We were looking for Indian style (usually with jasmine and roses) garlands for our civil ceremony at short notice. Leis immediately came to mind (the few Indian garland makers refused to make just 2, I mean who buys 100 of them). After looking at Unilocal reviews, I called and spoke to Leah, who was super friendly and helpful. She suggested a ti-​leaf orchid lei for me and double orchid lei for my fiancée (now wife) and even gave me time to think about it– I actually changed the order from pink to white orchid three days before pickup and she was cool with it. The leis came in a plastic box and were ready as promised. I just loved the friendly, warm vibe (even across the phone). Wish more businesses were like this !

They have every Spam flavor you can think of. I didn’t notice the freezer of frozen food last time. Had the get more of the rice Krispy choco chip cookies, a must if you stop by. They are super light and crunchy. They get monthly shipment of cookies and looked like they got a little cleaned out over the weekend. I also bought frozen pork lau lau and musubi shaped sausage. A little taste of HI without the flight and dragging it back home. :p

Aloha Warehouse and Edgar are fantastic! They have a large selection of ukuleles, & are very helpful at explaining your options, to ensure you go home with the right uke. I was disappointed not to meet Edgar the day I purchased my uke; I went on Sunday, his day off, so his sister helped me.
Three months after I purchased it, my uke (in its case) fell off a hook in the ladies room… it fell hard and cracked. I was so bummed! Others didn’t think it could be fixed, but Edgar helped me out — at no charge. «Thanks for buying locally,» he said. I can’t recommend Edgar & Aloha Warehouse highly enough. I hope to get good enough at playing to merit buying another ukulele… and I’ll definitely return to Aloha Warehouse.

others wake up wanting to consume coffee, pancakes and a ukulele this long labor day weekend
was at a bbq get together last nite when a uke was brought out. it was love at first sight, comparable to laying eyes on your first crush from across the room. only the sounds that came out of this are far better
mentioned to leah how i couldn’t put it down, she said yep it usually works that way… grabbed a couple starters for me to demo, liked what i heard, flipped over the price tag and said ill take it. for once i’d like to not have to look at a price tag while saying firmly ‘wrap it up please’ but i don’t have that luxury
prices ranged from makala sopranos being $ 48 plus tax moving upwards to the fine crafted tenor/​baritones which were on display however out of reach
she strummed some chords and tuned it while she made small talk providing pointers and websites all while i enjoyed her shop
with no cable tv, i’d like to put in some time to pick up a few cheesy tunes as i only hope my add doesn’t get in the way like it did frosh year when attempting to learn poison’s ‘every rose’
or that time i impulsively bought a used guitar and tuna baguette while baked on khao san road
or another time when i was laid off in boston and cashed my severance check then went to guitar center on comm ave to purchase an acoustic

In need of a Uke or find out more info or anything Uke. This store has some gorgeous Ukes and a knowledgeable staff. You will also find Hawaiian goods such as chocolate coveres Macadamia. Also several varieties of Spam. There is some Hawaiian attire as well.

If I could give more than 5 stars for Aloha Warehouse, I would! A review on Unilocal could not express my gratitude for Aloha Warehouse and the kind lady that helped me through a graduation rut back in June 2014. Long story short, it was my youngest sister’s High School graduation and my sister and I wanted to make everything perfect so we ordered a haku style headpiece and a double orchid lei through another florist and was basically stood up because the owner of the other florist «forgot» my order a day before the graduation. Frustrated and insulted, my sister suggested calling Aloha Warehouse to see if they could do anything, so I called them and asked if they had any haku style headpieces. Surprisingly, Aloha Warehouse ended up having 2 haku style headpieces that weren’t picked up by other customers, so we asked if we could reserve one and ended up rushing to Aloha Warehouse to go pick up the headpiece.
Immediately upon entering, the sweet lady assured us that she had the haku style headpieces in the back and brought them out. They were a little similar in terms of colors and flowers used, but they were absolutely stunning! My sister and I knew we wanted my sister to have some sort of neck lei that accompanied the haku style headpiece and I definitely did not want to go to the other flaky florist, so I asked the lady if she had any leis that she could sell us. The lady returns minutes later with an array of beautiful, unique and fresh leis that left both my sister and I excited. We ended up getting the mixed orchids and babies breath haku style headpiece, a ti leaf rope with purple orchids, a white carnation with purple orchids and kukui nut shells lei, and a braided orchid lei. Our total was about $ 200, which is pretty reasonable for fresh orchid leis!
My sister and family were in awe of how beautiful the leis were! I am so happy Aloha Warehouse came to our rescue and will definitely return to them in the future! A million thank you’s to Aloha Warehouse and I highly suggest checking them out!

Cute store. They sell Hawaiian clothes, ukuleles, leis, and puka necklaces. Most importantly they sell Hawaiian snacks!
I was able to get Hurricane popcorn here, it’s just the best popcorn ever. I’ve loved this popcorn ever since my first bite 10 years ago. It has mochi crackers, sesame seeds, and seaweed.
I was hoping I’d be able to get some Li Hing powder, but sadly they said California won’t allow them to import it anymore from Hawaii.
Tried Kristie’s Kookies for the first time. Got the Choc-​less-​chip kookie & Mochi kookie, they’re different than I’m used to, crunchy. I like the choc-​less-​chip cookie, but they’re not something I would crave or go out of my way to find.

The nicest people! Really helpful and so kind, and thanks for watching the keiki while I used the restroom. I came to find luau wear, the selection is pretty slim for women, mostly large and XL. I ended up getting a pa’u skirt and I’ll wear it with a tank top. That’s what I get for waiting a week before hapa baby’s party to get something to wear.
If you are looking for an ABC store or a ton of imported stuff you will be disappointed, it is a very small store. It seems the bulk of the biz is ukeleles and leis. I suggest calling first if you are looking for a specific item. My guess is they have the connections to get whatever you want given enough time.

ALOOOOOOH HAAAAA!!!
After my visit to Honolulu, I’ve never been the same. I’ve somehow adopted myself into a make believe islander orphan and no, I’m not delusional. Okay maybe slightly.
Whenever I visit Japantown, I always like making my way into the Aloha Warehouse. Perusing the store products channels me straight back to Oahu where I shared some of the best memories of my life. Ones that I’ll always treasure!
The shelves are lined with Hawaiian clothing, snacks, leis, puka shells, kukui nut necklaces, Hawaiian flag magnets and decals, ukuleles for dayzzzzzz, Isreal Kamakawiwo’olé music (looooove it), dashboard hula dolls, hats, and so much more! I guarantee that this will appease your Hawaiian flava!
This is my little go to spot whenever I miss the Hawaiian islands and crave a quick getaway.
Friendly, laid back service. Great place to look around. Pick up an item or two and show some love to this local shop!

Most likely the only place you can get these imported snacks from Hawaii, without having to fly to Hawaii… Hurricane and Typhoon Popcorn, Li-​Hing Mui Powder, Kirstie’s Kookies, and more hard to find stuff beyond that… Half of the store sells ukeleles and Hawaiian shirts as well. Check-​in and you get. a free Aloha Hawaiian drink!

–macadamia cookies, popcorn, dang coconut chips
–li hung mui and other preserved seed treats
–lei’s, clothes, cd’s, artifacts, etc.

I FOUND THE HAWAIIAN CRACK!!!
As a Li Hing feen, I would like to say mahalo to Unilocal for leading me to Aloha Warehouse, the ONLY place that I know in SF that sells Li Hing products. Even though Li Hing products are available online there’s nothing like the instant gratification of being able to tear open a bag right then and there to satiate your crack craving. AHHHH…
Located in a strip of restaurants in J-​town, Aloha Warehouse sells Hawaiian attire, musical instruments (i.e. ukulele), fresh leis, lotion products, an array of hard to find Spam (i.e. Garlic, Hickory Smoked), Hurricane popcorn, cookies, dried fruits, and candies (e.g. Hawaiian Host) from the islands.
Addicts and junkies alike go for one thing and one thing only at Aloha Warehouse: THE HAWAIIAN CRACK aka Li Hing. Li Hing is a powder made of prunes, salt and sugar. I know it doesn’t sound like an appetizing combo, but seriously don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. Adding it to dried fruits and candy, will give your mouth a slight pucker and excite your tastebuds with a *BOOM BOOM POW* salty sweet sourness similar to the effect of Pop Rocks sans the physical pop and crackle. SIMPLY ADDICTING!
Aloha Warehouse’s Li Hing products (all $ 3.50 and varying in sizes) include gummy bears, applemelon gummies, dried mango, papaya, fuji apple, and muis. They also sell the powder which I highly recommend getting so you make your own candy and dried fruits (just sprinkle the powder on all sides) which will save you $$.
When I was at Aloha Warehouse yesterday, I grabbed every single Li Hing product except for the mui and papaya, scurried home, ripped open all the packets, savored a piece from each one, then hid them all away so NO ONE can find them just like any good junkie would do. It’s just like crack I tell you, but in my case perhaps even worse…
