Allen Wood DC

Allen Wood is a terrific find for a masters endurance athlete. He understands my need to keep running and helps me to find a long term solution towards that goal. When I tore my achilles, we diagnosed the problem, worked to fix it as soon as we could and go me running again in 6 weeks, and racing in 6 months. With a combination of his chiropractic work, and following his recommendations for exercises and his sage advise on when to push and when to back off, I feel I have my best opportunity for running strong and healthy for years to come. Allen is the best chiropractor in the city! He has taken care of me for over 4 years and has helped me come back from a debilitating back injury. I am proud to call him a good friend. I cannot recommend him enough.

I’ve been going to Allen Wood for 4 years. He is the only chiropractor (or anyone else for that matter) I’ll let touch my neck! Although I live more than 200 miles from San Francisco, I make sure to see him every time I’m in the city (15 – 20 times a year). Even though I’m a regular he makes sure to spend the time, each and every time, to check in with me at length, making sure he understands what’s going on with me. Continuing his education with the latest training is high up on his priorities which I admire and I’m sure I’ve benefited from. I highly recommend Dr. Wood to anyone that is looking for a fantastic chiropractor!

The best DC in the City. Im a big guy, and Dr Wood moves me around with ease. He is very knowledgeable, and I always end up feeling better with very few follow ups. He truly understand body mechanics, and there is no BS.

I’ve been seeing Allen Wood for about 15 years. He is fantastic at diagnosing and treating all those aches and pains that a life full of mountain biking and skiing throws at you.
Usually I’ll see him for a specific ache and that will be for two, three or maybe four visits and then I won’t see him again for another 9 to 12 months.
He is highly trained in a number of areas and appears to keep current with his training. If there is an ailment that he can’t handle he is quick to tell me that I should see a specialist in that area.
In terms of integrity which was referenced in another review, he has a loyal following (which wouldn’t remain with him if he was a shyster) and has always been 100% straight with me.

Ok, the human body is weak and prone to injuries. This is where Chiropractors come in. They are those people that are supposed to help us get back on our feet (sometimes literally) after an injury. However, at the same time, I cannot afford to see my Chriopractor more often than I shower. This is where Dr. Wood earns his first gold star. He doesn’t schedule you to see him every odd day of the week for the next few months. I think he was genuinely interested in getting me better and on my way with only the necessary appointements. I’ve had my share of Chiropractors who have scheduled me weeks in advance without even seeing my progress. He’s worked on me five times for three different problems, and Im golden. He made me self sufficient and self repairable.
The second props for Dr Woods is that he doesn’t do the snap, crackle, and pop thing unless he finds it necessary. He worked locally on the problems and nothing more, yet did not short change me.
He’s also a big dude (I think he works on the GS Warriors) so he can manipulate the humane body without much problem.
Altogether, he’s a down to earth doctor who brings real results and who knows his sh**.

Dr. Wood was recommended to me by a fellow figure skater. After years of falling, I was having back problems. I had tried many chiropractors in the south bay for years and it wasn’t helping. After the first visit, I felt so much better. I have been seeing Dr. Wood for over 15 years. I now only go to a yearly adjustment. He works wonders and is very friendly. He is worth the drive from SJ to SF.

He is fantastic. A real wizard. And helps you to understand how to use stretches and strengthening exercises to keep your body aligned.

I was super skeptical about allowing someone to manipulate my back. I’m not so good at ‘take-​a-​deep-​breath-​and-​relax’ when I know my spine is about to brutalized. Oh how dramatic I am. So a friend bought me my first session with Dr. Allen Wood as a gift and it was a tremendous experience. We talked in length about all my issues (except THAT one. No one wants to hear about THAT one) and he did much much more deep massage and physical therapy than cracking. I’ve been visiting him weekly now for nearly half a year and I quickly grew to love all aspects of our sessions, including our indepth conversations about art and travel and love and politics. Wow I wish I could tell you what we REALLY talk about.
