first time customer, VERY VERY bothered by the receptionist’s «you-​should-​pay-​for-​whatever-​we-​ask-​you-​to, no-​question-​asked, otherwise-​we-​would-​think-​you-​are-​someone-​who-​was-​too-​cheap-​to-​take-​care-​of-​your-​pet» attitude and the way he treated customer like a dumnass. To back off a million steps, it would’ve been fine if he was at least responsible. Sadly, he was nowhere closed to that. The receptionist tried to trick me to over-​vaccine my dog despise I brought ALL my dog’s medical record, and have complete knowledge about my dog’s vaccine status; and he gave me all that VERY annoying attitudes. I would never go back again. Seems that all their care about is to get money out of your pocket, and nothing is about you or your pet

I had a fabulous experience here this morning. The front staff was super nice and chatty and was very efficient checking us in. My bearded dragon Didymus and I were quickly shown a room and visited by a doctor. They had a heating pad for him which was a nice touch. My beardie was given a gentle and thorough exam and was ultimately prescribed some superfood to bring up his appetite. The initial exam price was given over the phone and all subsequent charges were discussed and agreed upon beforehand. Very professional. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.

All Pets is our favorite veterinarian in San Francisco! We’ve been bringing our dog there after some bad experiences at other vet practices. The care at All Pets is great, you get more time with doctors, and it’s easier to make appointments and get in quickly when need be.

I used to be a long-​time customer at All Pets, starting in the late 90s. I made the switch from Dan Hershberger to Alex Herman is an excellent compassionate and caring professional, friendly and warm. Her bedside manner is completely the opposite of her colleague who I always felt was condescending, dismissive and cold.
I was really disappointed when I had to bring my FIV+ kitty in for euthanasia and had to see Hersberger — he had nothing kind or supportive to say to me in that situation. In fact — he insisted on shaving her front leg to give the injection (which was probably not necessary since she was down from her usual 8lbs to about 3lbs).
Nonetheless, I continued to bring my other kitty to see Alex — she’s awesome — I even continued to bring him for annual checkups when I moved to the East Bay, stopping only when I sold my car and switched to a vet clinic two blocks from where I lived. I have continued to recommend Alex Herman to other people with pets.
The staff have always been courteous, professional, friendly and super warm and engaged. They seem to actually like working with animals.
Fast forward to 2015 — my friend called me up at work, in tears: his kitty just died before his eyes and he had no idea what to do. I wrapped up my meeting and left work to head to his house to say my good byes to the kitty and to support my friend. I called All Pets to ask about cremation services — and we went there. The staff — in the remodeled front office — were sweet, kind and compassionate about the whole situation.
Folks — it’s important to remember that most vet clinics are pretty well staffed. If you like the location, hours, prices and staff — don’t hesitate to switch to another vet in house if you don’t get along with the vet you are seeing. If you don’t feel like your communication styles are aligning — don’t put yourself through that stress.

Service is fine but it’s difficult to book an appointment and they can be significantly more expensive than other vets even considering SF rent costs. Used to go here until they quoted me over $ 1100 for tooth extraction under anesthesia for my cat; I’ve since switched to Blue Cross Pet Hospital which did it for a third of the price and has amazing service and aftercare.

I am a bunny owner and I honestly think that Dr. Herman is the best bunny doctor in SF. I’ve been to different vets and even had my buns examined by different doctors at All Pets. No one compares to Dr. Herman. The last time I had my buns examined by someone else, they didn’t catch the huge red flag of skin mites. It became very obvious to me and I brought my buns back to Dr. Herman only a few days later and she confirmed my suspicions.
All in all though, All Pets is a great practice with a staff who genuinely cares about the animals. It’s very apparent once you start simply observing as you wait in the lobby.
If you’re trying to get an appt, make sure you call a few days/​week ahead. I have rarely ever been able to get a 1-​day appt with them.

Expired rabies shots is what they told me they gave to my daughter and said the needed to give her new shots at no charge but charged me anyways, my doggie Almost Died she had Huge Bulging Rashes all pinkish red everywhere and some sort of puss scab from where they administered the shot I called them up right away and they told me I need to take her to a different pet hospital for emergency because they didn’t have time to take her in. I saw that other caring pet owners had the same issue based on there review comment. You Guys Need to pay for your mistakes by doing the Right thing and stop doing the Wrong thing.
You Almost Murdered my Doggie.

All Pets has been our vet for six years and has always treated our little guy with top-​notch care and true compassion. They’re also a very well run business. It’s easy to get an appointment. They’re centrally located. They always follow up with a call after a big visit to make sure your pet is doing well.
Truly impressed with all of the doctors and staff at this local gem. Highly recommend!

If you have a guinea pig, this is where you want to go. When my guinea pig Ichabod got sick, I tried calling a few vets in the city, many of whom turned us down because they don’t treat small animals. All Pets has multiple vets who will treat guinea pigs (as well as other small mammals and birds). This is a place that truly cares about animals (and their humans).
I saw Dr. Gillespie for two of my visits, and I can’t stress enough what an excellent vet she is. She has such a natural gift with animals, and my guinea pig warmed up to her immediately, even though he was sick and scared. Her examinations were very thorough, and she took a lot of time to explain what she saw going on and what our options were. After our appointments, she called me the next day to check on him and spent a long time talking to me. I definitely felt that she genuinely cared about doing all we could to help Ichabod. She has truly found her calling in life as a veterinarian.
When it came to treatments, All Pets Hospital gave us options and let us decide together what to do. Dr. Gillespie even advised against more expensive treatments for my guinea pig that would have been too stressful for him to go through in his condition. I never felt that they were just after my money, just that they wanted what was best for him.
The front desk/​support staff is amazing. All three of my appointments were emergencies, and they were so accommodating and helpful when it came to fitting us in. Not only that, it was clear that they truly cared about what was going on with my guinea pig. Their help with scheduling appointments and arranging prescriptions was such a huge source of relief during a very stressful time.
Unfortunately, my guinea pig did not make it (congestive heart failure). Shortly after he passed, I received a condolence card in the mail from All Pets Hospital. It was such a touching gesture from a place that did so much to help us. We all want the best for our pets, especially when they are not well, and All Pets Hospital is there to provide it.

So grateful for Dr. Gillespie! My 6.5 year old rabbit suddenly had GI stasis one day and after 2 scary nights in emergency and at All Pets, she made a recovery!
Dr. Gillespie and all the staff were so attentive and constantly called me with updates. They handled her so gently and Dr. Gillespie was so knowledgeable about rabbits! Really hard to find nowadays. So many vets will see rabbits but don’t know exactly how these animals are. Dr. Gillespie was patient and tried her best to avoid surgery on my little baby, which I’m so grateful for!
They are a bit pricey, but pretty standard as far as San Francisco prices. They really tried to stay on the low end of treatment and I appreciate the honesty and not trying to force treatments or surgery on my rabbit for extra money. Very honest and great staff here. Thank you for saving my BeeBee and being so gentle on her!

I’m very hot and cold about this place.
We’ve seen three of the doctors here over the course of our 8 months living in SF and we’ve only liked one of them.
We have a 14-​yr old hound who has been having a lot of issues lately. On one hand, he’s a part of the family and we’d do anything to make him healthy, but on the other hand he’s also very old and will naturally have issues where maybe spending thousands upon thousands of dollars won’t really significantly improve the quality of his life. I wish they were more understanding of that fact. (Again, to stress, we would never do anything that would put our little guy at risk, but we are also not millionaires).
The front staff is pretty amazing. They’re all very friendly, however, the company as a whole seems unorganized. Compared to vet costs (i.e. an ultrasound in Seattle vs and ultrasound in San Francisco) are pretty inflated. They are lacking a little in the follow-​up area as well. They also trimmed our dog’s nails without asking us. His breed has naturally long wicks so we are selective about who does that and when. He came home walking gingerly with bleeding nails and on top of that they charged us $ 20 for the «service».
Sigh. I want to love this place, but I’ve had a hard time. Unfortunately, it’s the closest option and convenient until we find something better.

Our kingsnake had an abnormal bump near it’s vent. We took it to the East Bay Vivarium for their opinion. They thought it was and infection or impaction. They recommend a local vet that specializes in reptiles but I couldn’t get an appointment. I was referred to another vet who didn’t have space and was given another referral to All Pets. I called and they had an opening that afternoon. Dr. Bar checked him out an said it looked like a tumor given its age and location and asymetry. Also, the snake was lively.
The options were surgery and a biopsy to determine if it was malignant. She gave me an estimate and said there was an opening tomorrow but I could think about it overnight.
Elvis, didn’t survive the night. Dr. Bar called to follow up, which surprised me. My regular doctor doesn’t even do that.
I thought All Pets is a great practice and fairly priced. They were carrying from the front office staff, assistants to the vet. I would trust any pet to them.

I awoke last Saturday to a desperately sick, almost 17-​year old cat. I recognized what was going on immediately, her having crashed exactly like this ten months earlier.
Severely dehydrated with diarrhea and vomiting, she was so weak and near death she was trying to hide in tight spaces in my apartment. She was readying to die.
She even tried to jump into her carrier that I’d quickly tossed onto the floor from the closet to make a speedy exit to the vet.
I hurriedly called my vet who was booked, another whom I’d seen once, same thing, all the while begging my little boy to get out of his pajamas and get dressed immediately.
I scrolled through Unilocal looking for vets with good ratings and called All Pets once I saw other friends gave them good marks and yes, they could see us in 45 minutes!
All Pets immediately checked us in and within 15 minutes had her back in an exam room with the gentle Dr. Gillespie.
After discussing treatment (blood draw, fluids) they recommended sending her home with special food for upset tummies (i/​d), antibiotics (chicken flavored!) and an anti-​nauseant on board. Blood work would be back by Monday afternoon.
All the staff were very kind and efficient, the two qualities you need when you come in a little hysterical with a sick pet. Dr. Gillespie was so gentle with my old girl, Chloe, and recommended common sense treatment that also didn’t break the bank.
The majority of the $ 367 bill was $ 219 for blood work.
As I suspected with her drinking a lot more water over the past month than she previously had, Chloe’s in the beginning stages of kidney failure. Dr. Gillespie recommended k/​d prescription food and fluids twice a week that they’ll show me how to administer.
My little cat leads a good life and is comfortable and content. I hope these simple maintenance treatments can keep her alive and happy for another year, maybe three.
All I know for sure is she’ll see her 17^th birthday and Christmas 2015 — and maybe a couple more of those milestones thanks to the kind doctors and staff at All Pets Hospital.

In our short span of pet ownership, our little pup has had more than her fair share of health issues. All thanks to Dr. Bar, who bears with our first time pet owner nerves and is so very kind when examining the puppy-​friend! They are also super helpful over the phone in determining whether or not it makes sense to come in, a question we find ourselves having alot of the time. Good, reliable service!

I’ve been going to All Pets for 3 to 4 years now and each visit is more pleasant than the others…
The front desk staff is extremely courteous, caring and efficient. I see smiles all-​around and I feel welcome every single time.
Dr. Bar, one of their three exotic (or reptile) animals specialist (many vet clinics don’t have any) is incredible, always providing invaluable insights on how to better care for my «baby» Royal Python, Tinker Bell.
This last time I had an appointment at 3:15PM. I was in right on time and was out the door at 3:45PM. And this wasn’t by any means a «quick visit». The doctor took her time examining «Tink» very thoroughly, gave her an A+ score on health. The nurse who helped us briefly before the doctor came into the room, measured and weighed and got her ready to make things easier for the doctor to easily check on her.
Well, I can’t say enough. Perhaps THANK YOU is in order. I may edit this review to be a little more complete/​detailed soon but, for now, you get the message: Don’t hesitate to bring your pet to the loving care of everyone in this amazing establishment. And I swear I am not related or even friends with anyone there (as many reviews on Unilocal can be very dubious). I know I will not be going anywhere else, as long as they are around.

DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE!!! For your pets own safety and well being, find another vet.
My feelings about All Pets Hospital were already mixed, but the call I received today pushed me over the edge to write this review.
I received a call today that the rabies vaccine they had given my puppy 3 months ago was actually EXPIRED and not valid or effective. Four issues here —
1. my dog has been playing in dog parks unprotected for months and could have contracted a deadly disease due to their BIG MISTAKE.
2. you injected my dog with an expired vaccine
3. all you did was offer to give him a new vaccine free of charge, not even refund the vaccine or visit.
4. you lost all credibility for any previous vet services, who knows if the other vaccines my pup received there were valid now?
On top of that, when I called back the man who answered was very rude and made it seem like no big deal.
In addition to this issue, the first Vet I saw here, Dr. Hershberger was not helpful at all. I had just gotten a new pup and had lots of questions about food, training, etc and he pretty much brushed them all off, almost laughing at me.
Overall, I would never in a million years recommend you take your pet here. Do yourself a favor and find yourself a real Vet.

Took my pup here for shots and visits a few months ago and didn’t love the place, but didn’t have big enough issues to look elsewhere. That changed when they called me 3 months later to tell me my pet was given expired vaccines and I had to come back to fix the issue.
I could of got past it had the staff handled it properly, but the guy on the phone made it sound like I should feel lucky for getting a second shot — for free! Thanks bud, you’re really going to give us a shot that’s not expired (that I already paid for) for free? After speaking with this guy for a few more minutes and hearing his bullsh*t reasoning of why this wasn’t a big deal, it was clear this wasn’t a place I trust with my dogs life and I’d be gladly willing to pay for non-​expired vaccinations elsewhere.
Won’t be back.

Great service but had terrible experience. I had my dog vaccinated here for multiple things, including rabies. I got a call 2 months after the vaccinations telling me they injected him with an expired rabies vaccine and just so happen to catch it (I was not the only patient affected). I had to get him revaccinated the next day. Only gave us a refund on the original rabies vaccine (and not even the cost of the checkup) when I specifically asked them for it due to the ridiculousness of this situation. The 3 things that made me very upset about this:
1. My dog went for 2 months without rabies protection. He could have caught rabies during that time which meant he would have had to be put down + my family could have been bitten/​given rabies. This is especially problematic because we travel often to Latin America where rabies can be a real issue.
2. No one likes having random stuff injected in their dogs.
3. I had to take extra time out of my weekend to bring him in.
The kicker is after mentioning the 3 above reasons why this was terrible to the person at All Pets, their response was, and I quote, «all hospital make mistakes and we’re owning up to ours». Yes, all hospitals do make mistakes, that’s why there are medical malpractice lawsuits.

Took my bunny here to see Dr. Gillespie. She was very gentle with him and she took the time to answer my questions and explain things in great details. Very knowledgable rabbit savvy vet! Highly recommend if you have a rabbit! (or any pet really!)
Front staffs and nurses are also friendly and very police on the phone.
Down sides: it was a bit difficult to get an appointment. I had to wait for a whole week before I could bring him… It’s also quite pricey (had a blood test) but knowing that my baby is healthy and well is all it matters to me!

Things have really improved at All Pets Hospital. So much so that I would never go anywhere for veterinary treatment of my dogs as long as I live in the Bay Area.
Dr. Bar is absolutely the best veterinarian I have ever worked with and want to send everyone to her. She worked very closely with us as we went through some medical troubles with our dog. She was honest, caring and just plain amazing. The front desk staff is improved. They seem to create a personal bond with every pet that comes through the doors.
Thank you so much to the team at All Pets Hospital. If I ever leave San Francisco I am going to put you all in my pocket and take you with me.
