Alex’s Custom Tile

Alex came out to assess my effervescence problem. He spent a lot of time with me, calling places to solve my issue. He even cleaned up after lifting up one of the old tiles. He’s really nice and friendly and I hope to work with him.

Alex and his team did a phenomenal job installing my kitchen backsplash. Despite his busy schedule Alex made time to come over late in the evening to provide a written estimate ASAP. He like to communicate by text (though reachable anytime by phone and email as well) which made communicating with him fast and efficient. Once I had my tile in had I got in touch and he came over to get started the very same day! The final product was beautiful and he came back personally a couple more times to review and retouch a few areas until it was perfect, and made sure I knew that I could call him back out again any time if I discovered something later.

We used Alex to re-​tile a bath tub in one of our rental units. It took us some time to nail down a meeting but once we did he was off and running. His crew was professional and left the bathroom clean. They finished the job in 4 days (quoted me 5), did a fantastic job and gave me an honest and fair price. I plan to use him again for my next tiling need!

From the reviews he seemed skilled at the trade of placing tiles but if you need to work with a contractor that understands timelines etc he is not your guy.
Originally I thought we had agreed to have him come over at 7am. He did show up on time, but then said that he would have to come back in ‘one hour’. At 9am I asked him where he was, and he said he would be there around 10−11am.
Then he called at 10am asking if we could do it tomorrow.
I expressed that I was unhappy that we kept changing time and then said he could not start at 7am because of noise.
It just sounded like a bunch of excuses and if all of society worked like this we would still be driving chariots around.

I called Alex to replace a few marble tiles that I previously removed to install a new dishwasher in our kitchen. I also asked him to modify a cut-​out in our kitchen counter (old school 6X6 tile of course) because our new drop-​in cooktop was not quite fitting in the existing hole. The old unit had heavily rounded corners while the new unit had very square corners. Alex showed up early on Sunday morning (at my request) to do the estimate and returned later that day with a co-​worker to complete the work. His pricing was very fair. He and his co-​worker spent time preparing the work areas to eliminate the spread of dust. They worked very diligently and the results were both accurate and aesthetically pleasing. I am so happy with their work and would recommend him to anyone looking for someone who takes his craft seriously but is also pleasant to work with. You will not be disappointed if you hire Alex for your project.

Alex was hired to retile our fireplace. We had to wait for the tile to come in and Alex and his crew were flexible with our schedule. We are very pleased with how it turned out. We discovered a chip a few days later that may have or may not have happened during the install. Alex came back and fixed it, no questions asked. He stands by his work and we will rehire him when it is time to remodel the bathroom.

Alex and his crew did an amazing job for me in my new commercial project! They were timely, diligent and extremely fair given their craftsmanship. All visitors have been awed by their work. I will use him for all of my jobs going forward.

We used Alex’s custom Tile to install slate strip cladding from floor to ceiling on our fireplace. They did an excellent job. We are very happy with how it turned out.
The only critique I have is it was a little tough getting the initial meeting for the quote set up, alot of calling back and forth to schedule and reschedule the time. Once Alex made it out the communication was great, the price was fair, and the job was done in a very timely manner.
We would use them again for any tiling jobs in the future.

Got 3 quotes for my fireplace to be retiled and they were all exactly the same price. I chose Alex because he was very nice and personable and knew he would do a great job. After 3 days my fireplace looks stunning and made all the difference in my living room. Will definitely be using Alex again!

Alex is amazing and all about service. As others have said, when he tells you that you can call him anytime he means it. We routinely chatted at 11pm as I was deciding what to do with our complicated fireplace tiling job. Then he’d come by at 7am the next day to see it. Alex made 3 visits to my home and spent a bunch of time on the phone helping me to figure out what kind of tile would work on the different surfaces. He’s not satisfied until you are. Highly trustworthy, honest and direct guy. As others have mentioned, Alex is not a designer. He just lays the tile you choose the way that you want it — fast, at a competitive price, and to very high standards of workmanship

What a great job! These guys are real professionals. They work clean and get done on time. Alex, who owns the place, has a huge heart and makes sure the job meets your requirements.
Be forewarned: he will not provide tile color selection or style as he wisely understands this is a personal choice. Once chosen, however, he will offer some great ideas on installation for a really sharp look.
Alex runs hard to keep his business going, no doubt. So while he may need some extra reminding when you call him about the particulars of your project, it is well worth it. As I said he is a really great guy personally and I will use him every time.

We recently hired Alex to tile our bathroom floor and an accent wall. He was excellent from start to finish. He is truly dedicated to custom service and does top notch work. He is a very hard worker (sometimes more than 12 hour days) and he was always on time. He supervises his workers closely and makes sure the work is done right. For example, after he tiled we were going to have a wall mounted vanity installed over the tile. Even though he had no obligation to make sure the plumber didn’t crack any of the tiles, he insisted on giving them direction so his beautiful work stayed that way. Great communication, reliable, and a terrifically nice guy. He uses great materials (thin set, grout, etc) and doesn’t cut corners.
He came in on time with no budgetary surprises. His rates are quite reasonable given his quality of craftsmanship. We will totally be calling him again when we are ready to do our other bathroom. Don’t take that crazy low ball offer. He is really your best bet to make sure all the money and effort you spent on your tile is going to last!
