I was visiting SF and was in need of some R&R. it’s been a busy year and I realized my skin was definitely showing it! I made a same-​day appointment easily with the awesome online scheduling system, and received an immediate confirmation with all the info I needed– all set and points for not having to call (thanks technology!). I arrive early in the cutest area and find Aestia Skincare. Shelly introduced herself and offered me a glass of water and we chatted for a little bit while she got the room together– I must say, she’s super cute, sweet, and easy to talk to! Before starting the appointment she asked pertinent questions on what brought me there, asking about the condition of my skin and what I’d like to change, etc. During the appointment, she executed it perfectly– just the right amount of talking/​recommendations and relaxing; I can tell she can read her clients well and adjusts her style accordingly. At the end of the appointment, my skin felt great, I felt relaxed, and I was incredibly happy. She was extremely frank about giving me information on my skin’s condition and what to expect, and she didn’t push any products on me, but rather gave honest recommendations, which I appreciated and took to heart.
Well, here I am about a week later, and my skin has NOTICEABLY improved. to the point where the boyfriend has noticed (and come on ladies, how often do they notice anything?).
Seriously, Shelly is amazing and I really cannot say enough great things about her. Wonderful person, talented esthetician. I’m definitely going to see her every time I visit SF and highly recommend her!

Had not gotten a facial in years — Was in town for a conference and my skin was NOT appreciating the travel, the climate change, the stress!!! Shelly did an AMAZING job. the atmosphere she created was very relaxing and her technique was very nurturing. She uses some great products and is a great aesthetician. I wish I could take her home to Houston with me!!!

I had not gotten a massage for a very long time (being very busy with personal and family commitments), but I finally returned to getting massages from Shelly in July 2014, and I also had another massage from Shelly today. So for these two recent massages, I am updating my Unilocal with two simple words:
PURE BLISS.

Absolutely AMAZING! And I wasn’t even the one getting the treatment! So I booked the «Full Bliss Experience» package for my girlfriend as a birthday gift because well, you gotta «Treat yo self.». The package includes: aromatherapy, full body massage, a facial, eyebrow maintenance, and a light application of make-​up if desired. From what the missus tells me, Shelly is absolutely wonderful. She’s very gentle and caring and takes pride in her craft. She also takes the time and effort to inform you on the step by step process of each treatment. After her treatment, my gf felt so rejuvenated that she was ready to hit the town afterwards. Located on Market Street this is the perfect location for those of you who are in the area to get some shopping done before or after. And fellas, there are plenty of places for you to go instead of just waiting for your lady in the lobby. I highly recommend Estia for you lovely ladies looking to get pampered, you won’t regret it!

I went here on a whim– I’d been breaking out due to stress, and wanted something that would rejuvenate my skin and help me relax. Shelly did both.
She is sweet and knowledgable and knows what she is doing. The products she uses smell amazzzzzing, and are gentle on the skin. I came out of the facial with my skin feeling cleaner than it has been in years! The facial itself was so relaxing that I caught myself almost dozing off twice. I am now walking around with no makeup (though i am wearing mascara) and feel great – something I almost never do.
It’s not cheap, but I will definitely be back!

Facial review: Before coming to Shelly my skin was just ok. I wasn’t really happy with my skin. I was in search of a great facial and received it here! I felt so relaxed and pampered by Shelly. The smell in the room and the coziness of the table just put me to sleep. Shelly uses natural products on your face and for me that was a plus. My skin is sensitive and I didn’t want harsh products on my face. I could go on and on about Shelly but you’ll have to come check her out and experience it yourself. Trust me you wont regret it.
I also purchased a holiday facial for my grandma and she loved the facial! Its a real treat and great gift for someone.
Brazilian: I’ve also received Brazilian waxes from Shelly and she also makes this process as pain free as can be :)
I haven’t had a body massage from her yet but plan to.

So, you know that bikini wax you’ve been dreaming about that doesn’t hurt? Seriously, it’s like you’re not even having hot wax ripped off your bare skin!
Okay, so we all know that waxing is going to hurt a little (sometimes more than others), but honestly, Shelly is a genius. She uses the perfect combination of soft and hard wax, and NO DOUBLE DIPPING. She’s a great conversationalist, and even when I haven’t been there in a while (hence, sometimes it hurts more than others), she remembers your last conversation and picks up like it’s only been a few weeks since you were there (which really SHOULD be the case, but I’m way too lazy to go that often).
The last time I saw Shelly I was feeling extra sensitive. I made sure to let Shelly know, and she was amazing about communicating with me and taking my mind off the actual waxing. She genuinely wants to make sure that the whole experience is as comfortable as possible, and I truly appreciate that. Bottom line, go see Shelly. You won’t regret it.

Shelly is awesome! Friendly, talkative, and just all around, nice! High energy too!
Waxing is painful, no matter what. But she makes a 30 minute session seem like a breeze.

It’s been a few days since I got my first facial from Shelly, and my skin still feels so soft and smooth. It’s amazing the magic she worked on my face. I had a lot of dry spots on my face that no matter how much moisturizer I was putting on my face, they just wouldn’t go away. After my 30 minute «on the go» facial with Shelly, dry spots = gone! I can only imagine what a full session facial would be like. A few things to note, especially for those who have never had a facial before, Shelly uses a machine to generate steam during the facial. I guess I should’ve known steam would be required because it opens your pores, but I can imagine this being difficult to go through if you get claustrophobic. It’s only a couple of minutes where your face has steam being blown on it, but just a heads up for those who have never had facials before.
I also got a massage from Shelly, and it was very relaxing. I appreciated how she took some time before the massage/​facial and asked the type of pressure I liked, if there were certain areas that she’d like me to focus on. It’s nice to know that she’s not just doing one massage formula for everyone, but really tries to tailor it for your needs and your experience. Oh also, her headrest is SO comfortable. A weird thing to notice, but I was close to falling asleep a couple of times.
The only downside was all of the noise coming from other salons as Jeff N.‘s review notes as well. Since she shares the floor space with other salons, it’s difficult to tune out the noises of other women laughing next door. I was still able to enjoy my session with Shelly, however.
Shelly is very professional and even sent me a nice follow-​up Thank You email the next day. It’s great to see how thoughtful she is towards her customers. Thank you Shelly for making my face wonderful and glowing!

Just came back from a therapeutic massage and on the go facial from Shelly and boy am I feeling great. I’d imagine that this is the way a baby feels once born, without the nasty goop and cord sticking out of my abdomen and inability to breathe… ok, bad analogy, but I feel like I’ve finally woken up despite the good sleep I already had last night.
I’m definitely not massage or facial expert (this was my very first facial), but I can easily say that this is the most relaxed I’ve been in a long time. Just like the other Unilocalers say, Shelly’s very professional and discussed preference with me prior to the session. She worked on my upper and lower back (the life of a tennis player) as well as providing easily the best leg massage I’ve ever had. There was lots of stretching involved, which at first, seemed unnecessary, but given the way I feel now, the benefits are definitely there.
As far as the facial goes, I’ve never had one and to put it shortly, she put on a lot of very good smelling stuff on my face and it feels like I’m alive now… like.ALIVE. I’d hate to say it, but it’s at the point where I’m perusing the other facial options she offers to see what step 2 would feel like.
In the end, her professionalism, my amazing feeling now, and ease of booking (all online!!) really make her a top choice in my books for a repeat visit.
The only thing to note is that she’s located on a floor where individuals rent out space for various salon type services. While Shelly’s office is on the corner and she did her best with masking any sound with closing the door and playing the yoga music, I was still able to hear what was going on next door (random women gossiping about… well, women gossip stuff). However, definitely no fault to Shelly as she makes the best of her space and does everything she can to transport you to the world of relaxation.

This is by far the best brazilian wax i’ve gotten in the city… really in any city!
Shelly rocks. She is super cool and makes you feel very comfortable. Her space is very clean and relaxing. She mostly uses hard wax which makes it essentially painless. Also, the most important thing is that she tweezes at the end! She is incredibly meticulous and there are no words for how much I appreciate that. If you are going to get a brazilian it’s because you want the hair GONE. Don’t leave a bunch of stragglers behind, ok? Shelly is great about this, thank god.
I am a total deal hound and hardly ever pay full price for a wax (because in SF you really don’t have to) but I am genuinely considering giving up wheeling and dealing to stick with Shelly. After you have a couple of super mediocre waxes you realize that some things are worth a few extra bucks!

Estia is the cutest little spa in the city! As soon as you walk in you start feeling relaxed, and she always has great aromas floating inside that make my nose feel very happy and zen!
I got a facial from Shelly, as well as a massage, and she was wonderful. I like that her personality is not just this «super calm esthetician» kind of feel, but more real and fun that makes me feel even more relaxed and comfortable. She knows what she’s talking about when it comes to skin and her long experience shows when she tells you about your skin and gives you amazing tips and product recommendations.
I had never seen my skin so clean before! Looked like a porcelain doll! She explained what to expect of my skin after the facial as well, so I wasn’t surprised afterward. Will come again!

Shelly has this innate therapeutic presence about her. I was at ease within a couple of minutes of meeting her. Like I have known her forever.
The facial went well, and my skin is glowing :) I slept in a facial appointment and that has never happened before ! :)
She also followed up with me and encouraged me to contact her anytime for anything. I had a few follow up questions and suggestions, and she was very open to accepting them !
Overall, a great experience ! I will return soon :)

I’d never had a brazilian that left literally zero hairs behind before going to Shelly. She’s an expert! She is fast, but never seems rushed. She is super smart and knows a ton about skin care and all kinds of other remedies. It’s hard to explain, but she just has this really calming personality and is a great conversationalist, so she always makes me feel relaxed even while ripping my hairs out by the roots haha.
I get ingrown hairs very easily, and Shelly has given me some great advice on preventing them. She also sells a topical roll-​on for ingrown hairs… and it actually works!!! That’s the only skin care product I’ve tried from her, but I know she really does her homework when it comes to the skincare products she carries.
I’ve been to shelly 4 – 5 times already, and I will never get a wax from anyone else as long as I’m in the bay area!
I’ve also had a massage from Shelly which was divine and super relaxing. And thanks to these other reviews, I’m now dying to try her facials!
One last thing, she uses Square to accept credit/​debit payments, which just makes her that much cooler :-)

In a word, WONDERFUL.
After a pre-​wedding chemical peel (which was a great experience and worked wonders on my sun-​damaged skin), Shelly invited me to come back for a complimentary 30-​minute hydrating treatment. I arrived for my appointment and she greeted me with a smile exclaiming, «I’m so excited about your skin!»
Shelly is very passionate about what she does, and makes you feel like you’re in such good hands (you are). The products she uses feel incredibly good, smell divine, and are as soothing and good for your skin as Shelley herself.

Came here a few weeks back for a wax before going on a beach vacation. Shelly was super professional, patient, and pleasant, and I couldn’t recommend her services more highly. She used the blue wax, said to be less harsh, and overall, the pain wasn’t bad! She definitely made me feel more comfortable than I thought possible for the type of service that I was getting, and my nerves and fears went right out the window with her soothing nature.
Her little studio is located within a larger collective of massage, facial, waxing, nail, etc type studios and is super cute and relaxing. I felt very comfortable there.
