Teachers are very nice. Not stroller friendly. Parking is a nightmare. Every other staff member I’ve had interactions with is incredibly rude. Not worth the stress. Looking for a cleaner, friendlier, less stressful place as soon as our session is up. I’m sure we can find nice teachers elsewhere. After coming an hour early to search for parking weekly, lugging three kids in their no stroller access facility and seeing grumpy faces with attitude consistently, I’ll check out San Francisco Gymnastics or go down the peninsula.

This update is from my review a few weeks back.
The one star still remains for the customer service which was my first encounter with the organization.
Five stars are for the amazing experience we have had with the children’s classes so far.
The teacher has been amazing and knows how to work with young children. The classes are well organized with a great blend of structure and space for free-​play which really allows each kid to sink into their own comfort zone. If my child’s tears at the end of each class tells you anything, it is that these classes are fantastic and go by too quickly.
We will continue to take classes here as long as possible.

Came here for my two of my godkids’ birthdays and unlike those party venues with the inflatable climbing things, AcroSports has this entire area for kids to run, jump, and play games without the horrible smell of rubber in the air.
They also have some cool features where they have this big pit of foam squares to jump in as well as a trapeze swing to swing on. Ultimately, my favorite was a bungee cord ride where two kids can sit in there and get bounced up and down like a cool amusement park ride. I think they also have another bungee cord harness thing for bigger kids too.
If there’s one drawback during my experience, it was the party room for food and cake eating part of the party. The place is pretty small and narrow. Us adults had to stand most of the time and we had to squeeze just to get from one end to the other. If I had any recommendation, then it would be to consider the size of your party before booking a party here.
My godkids did have fun that day and this certainly seems like a healthy active birthday option for parents who want their kids to burns some calories before eating pizzas and cake. FYI, parking is a bit tough but there’s a pay-​by-​hour lot nearby at Kezar and street parking if you’re lucky.

Love coming in every once in a while to their «open gym» on Wednesdays to play on the Uneven bars! Juliene is so nice and welcoming every time i show up… and she remembers my name :) Also, Elijah is a great instructor! He helped me learn a few backflips off the high bar in a matter of minutes! Everyone i met is friendly as well! I highly recommend coming here! Clean and the equipment is great!

Came for an adult beginning tumbling class through ClassPass and had a blast! I was really impressed with the amount of space that this place has and all of the variety of equipment. It is a large two-​floor facility (I think it’s an old high school gymnasium) and the office for check-​in is located on the second floor. I was a little confused when I first entered because a kid’s class was going on on the first floor and I didn’t know where to sign in. They have school lockers available (bring your own lock) or there are cubbies on the third floor bleacher section (that looks down on to the second main floor).
I somehow snuck on to the gymnastics team at my high school without many skills years back so I have some background in tumbling but I haven’t done it since. So, I was really excited to give it a shot again on a spring-​filled floor. These classes get filled really quickly on ClassPass and they are all very small – we only had six people in our class. The small class size is great for individualized attention.
The 90-​minute class started with a lot of different drills to work on different tumbling skills from forward rolls, backward rolls to a handstand, round-​offs, dive rolls, etc. Our instructor also offered many modifications for people working at different levels which I really appreciated. For the last half an hour, we moved to the TumbleTrak which is basically a less elastic trampoline in a running strip that ends in a foam pit (what better way to practice tumbling around). We took turns doing different runs. For my first time, a lot of this involved different types of jumps (tuck and straddle) until the end of the track and then either a dive roll or a front handspring. The other more experienced participants worked on front tucks or front/​back handsprings.
Great, safe, and fun way to exercise. My muscles were definitely fatiguing by the end of class. The space is a little bit older and the gym floor does have a, shall we say, «unique» odor probably from all of the feet that run across it. I noticed that our instructor and some of the participants were wearing really thin-​soled athletic shoes – maybe the way to go to avoid contact with the floor!

Being an ex-​gymnast, normal gym workouts bore me to tears and I always end up «donating» money to 24hr or a similar type of establishment because I can’t convince myself to ever go.
With summer slowly approaching, I realized I needed to find another solution to get my summer bod. I looked up adult gymnastics and found Acrosports. Since my first tumbling class about a year ago, I haven’t looked back at those dumbbells and treadmills. The classes are a lot of fun and you definitely get a workout. I woke up the next day more sore than I had ever been, it hurt to breathe!
Also, being an ex-​coach for the competitive program at another club in my past life, I can attest to the fact that the teachers know what they are doing. They actually teach technique and provide drills that help you learn new skills instead of the «hey copy me» method you may find at other places.
Worried that you are a beginner in a class with people with experience? Worry not! Everyone in class is fantastic. It’s almost like a support group. Everyone cheers just the same whether you finally got that forward roll or you nailed the full.

Jessica in finance/​administration completely misunderstood me when i brought my daughter to the wrong tumbling class. she was enrolled for tumbling and i accidentally brought her to tumblers which is for younger toddlers. I insisted to the gym instructor that she was enrolled and her and another teacher ganged up on me and went to admin that I was trying to insist my daughter was signed up when she wasn’t. They did everything to embarrass me in front of the other parents while my daughter was in the tumbling class. Jessica said I was uncooperative and completely refunded me. I am also 7 – 8 months pregnant and they told me to never come back with my daughter. My daughter has been part of Acro sport since 2013 – 2014 and has never experience such an issue from the female staff. I have never seen this Jessica tyrant until today and she seems to have to no courtesy but likes to aggravate issues that aren’t already smooth.

Our schedule does not allow for regular gymnastic classes, and my hope was that summer camp would give my girls a chance at gymnastics. Patti, the Program Manager reassured me that the girls would learn gymnastics, regardless of their level. She was right, they had a great time, learned how to tumble, do cart wheels and my oldest loves the trampoline! They can’t wait to go back this summer.
I also love having birthday parties here. Patti replied to all my questions about number of guests, and food I wanted to bring. She made the whole thing so easy!

I used to spend time here with the kids for birthday parties and classes when they were young, 4 and 5 years old. Recently my son wanted an «America Ninja Warrior» birthday party for his 8^th year birthday party. I called and spoke with Patti who was very helpful and excited about creating an appropriate obstacle course for the party.
She created the course which incorporated most if not all of the elements in the room including zip-​line, trampoline, foam pit, balance beam, climbing wall, trapeze of course, somersault ramps and lastly a climbing rope.
I first saw the course and thought it was way too easy. But, it was actually harder than it looked and the kids loved it! I brought a white board and some parents helped keep time for the kids. The climbing rope was the element that really separated the group. lighter stronger kids could get to the scarf, while others struggled to make it half way there.
An hour was enough time to get all 12 kids through the course twice with time for a fun dodgeball game afterward. If I did it again, I would like to do a run off of the top three. Anyway, we had a ton of fun and everyone got a home made themed metal for participation.

The Toddler classes were great. I really wanted the pre-​k program to be great too. Maybe if we had a different teacher it would have been better. She seemed to be an expert time waster. She regularly started the class 5 min late and ended class 5 min early. There was a 5 minute «drink break too.» She spent another 5 – 8 minutes on the beginning of the class reviewing the rules frequently stopping in the middle of this review to regain the kids attention. I understand the rationale especially the first few weeks but I don’t think it was really necessary 5 – 6 weeks in. Over all they spent maybe 20 – 25 min out of the hour using the equipment.
She didn’t really seem to understand how to manage this age group. She had very little patience for the antics that are normal for 3 – 4 year olds. They were made to sit for about 5 min while they watched her demonstrate a very large obstacle course and would frequently stop and chastise the kids for not paying attention. Substitute teachers were much more successful with breaking it up into smaller pieces. She also did not even start the obstacle course until about 30 min into class. The rest were *warm up* activities that mostly were her demonstrating bunny hops or bear walks, talking and then having the kids follow her. Frequent stops to chastise the kids for not paying attention to her during the demo. Again, substitute teachers would spend 15 min max on this part.
My child had some trouble with using the equipment but frequently did not receive any assistance or would just get «coaching» that was yelled from across the large obstacle course. My child would make many attempts to do it and then give up. It was not even a large class; 4 – 5 kids at most on a given day. The teacher would often stand to the side watching the kids and sip her coffee. I had hoped for her to at least be able to do a forward roll on her own by the end of the 12 weeks but as a result of the coaching style described above that did not happen.
I had hoped that maybe this is just due to being unlucky with the quality of the teacher. However, when talking with other parents who have been to acrosport, they had similar complaints and their teachers were different. There seems to be an overall lack of training on how to engage the pre-​k age group. Some parents even had frequent safety issues in their classes.
My child had fun and enjoyed it, which I guess is the most important thing. The kids were safe for the most part. I guess in the end that’s what really mattered. I just felt it was a huge waste of money due to the ineffective teaching. We will not be coming back.

My 5 year old has fun in his class (Tumblers). As a parent I just wish the other classes they offer for his age was available more on the weekend. The staff did express that it can be hard to find staffing on the weekends. I totally get that. It’s just too bad. It just really limits me with his school schedule. As for my 8 year old, I was so happy they had a special needs class. He has a blast! But then the teacher left and they never found a replacement. I’ve noticed they’ve even take it off the schedule so no one would really know about it. So now he’s going to have to do privates. That took a while too but I’m just happy I finally found a teacher on the weekends for him. It would of been nice to have him with other kids but he needs the physical output. So my rating is a mix between 3 and 4. Overall they do have fun.

This place is horrible. Went there today to do a no risk first class and the red headed lady at the front was so rude! First of all the parking around there is horrendous. I drove around for 20 minutes trying to look for parking. Then when we got there the lady hands me a ticket with my daughter’s name spelled incorrectly and she acted like I was a horrible person for asking her to correct it. Maybe she didn’t feel like treating me like a real customer because I was doing the no risk trial? Then we go upstairs to meet the coach and she did nothing to try to warm up my daughter to her class. Maybe they have so many student they don’t need to make anyone feel special. Who knows.

This update is long overdue. Whatever concern I had was fixed. Great staff, great classes, and loads of flexibility. Highly recommend.

My daughter has done a few classes here, and a birthday party.
Most recently she did the Tootsie Rollers class with Patricia. Patricia is great. There was a mix of kids at different levels and with different personalities but she did a great job filling the 40-​minute class with new and fun things for the kids to do. My daughter’s skills definitely progressed and that has 100% to do with the way Patricia taught the class. She came in mid-​session and we couldn’t have asked for a better instructor.
The birthday party for kids 3 and under on the bottom floor was also great and worth the money. It doesn’t seem like there’s enough to do on that bottom floor for 15+ kids for 90-​minutes but there totally is. Kids love it, parents love it as well because you can keep an eye while having a chat. Lovely.

This place is a joke. We signed up for a 10 week class and through 5 classes have yet to meet a worthwhile teacher. Claire by far is the worst offender. This is suppose to be a job you take because you like working with kids. She is the complete opposite. She was mean and inattentive to the children. A mother thanked her at the end of class and she just shrugged her shoulders and walked past. Find an alternative.

Super friendly, good facilities, and great open gyms. They don’t seem to check payment for them either, so it’s definitely a hidden gem.

I’ve lived in SF for 13 years, and have been to every rock climbing gym in the bay, to different dance studios, and gyms over the years, and none of their staff are as welcoming, helpful and as chill as the staff at Acrosports.
Their coaching staff and administrative staff really create such a great environment, and have kept me coming back every chance I get. I have a few physical limitations, and they recognized it right away, asked about it, and offered modifications whenever possible, and have even given me great tips on how to strengthen my joints.
I’ve only been going for a month, but even after the first time I felt right at home. All the people that attend the classes and open gym are incredibly nice. I’m a bit shy, but felt totally comfortable trying things out, and didn’t feel judged. It’s been so satisfying to do gymnastics again, and get such an amazing workout while having so much fun.

Trans friendly gymnastics space, ahoy, all in one of the most uniquely awesome buildings I’ve ever had the honor of round-​off back tucking my way through. More on both below.
I kind of can’t believe I didn’t write a review here sooner, considering how much I love this place and the people who make it great.
So! Figure skating is one of my major passions, and it’s the sport I’ve trained in for well over 20 years. Gymnastics has always had a special place in my heart though, and if I’d had the time, I almost certainly would’ve focused on both as a kid.
I’ve taken a few gymnastics classes over the years, but mostly stopped my involvement in the sport after high school. Then, back in early 2013, I got the itch to try it out again as I was nearing 30. I’d just moved to San Francisco and was delighted to find a gymnastics and circus skills training center so close by. Even better? They offer adult tumbling classes for people with a variety of skill levels, from complete beginner to I-​used-​to-​do-​this-​on-​a-​college-​team-​and-​want-​a-​few-​technique-​reminders.
The space itself is one-​of-​a-​kind, with towering ceilings, an upstairs viewing area, tumble track and tramp (those are two separate things, for the uninitiated), full floor, aerial equipment, and all the apparatuses you’d see at a run-​of-​the-​mill gymnastics competition.
Or, you know, the Olympics.
I hear they’ve also recently installed a foam pit, which means I kind of need to get my butt back there to try it out.
I want to be detailed here about my experience as a transgender adult participating in classes at Acrosports, as I don’t feel that a previous reviewer accurately described Acrosports’ approach to trans individuals who participate in the curriculum. Moreover, accusing a business of gender discrimination when there happens to be none appropriates the very real oppression many trans children and adults experience. Not cool. (The reviewer claimed her daughter was not allowed to join a boy’s gymnastics class due to gender discrimination and expressed concern for parents who might want to put their trans/​gender nonconforming children in classes, when it seems more accurate to say the issue was more one of the reviewer’s own schedule conflicts).
As a transgender (female-​to-​male) athlete who hadn’t yet legally changed my name or started medically transitioning (translation: I went by a male name but still sounded and looked a bit more feminine than your average bloke), I never know how people are going to respond to my presence in a sports class. Or anywhere, for that matter. Acrosports’ adult classes aren’t divided up by gender, but the concern was still there for me. It’s emotionally exhausting to be misgendered or treated differently than others just because I’m trans, and it unfortunately happens more than it should, even in a city as progressive as San Francisco.
I was nothing short of relieved (later, impressed) by how the staff and coaches at Acrosports handled my presence in their adult tumbling class and open gym sessions. My chosen name didn’t match the name on my credit card they had in their system. Not an issue (and I was always greeted with a friendly smile and a class ticket with my preferred name written out in neat block letters upon arrival — total bonus). I had questions about strength training for traditionally male apparatuses (like rings and the high bar). No one told me I should focus more on, say, the balance beam. There was also very little misgendering (and none done deliberately, to my knowledge), which was awesome.
Oh yeah, and I learned a pretty epic round-​off back handspring in the process.
I haven’t been to Acrosports in awhile due to the craziness that is life as of late, but I’m still in touch with a handful of the wonderful people I met there (students and staff/​coaches alike). Simply put, these people are just so awesome and passionate about their work that it’s hard not to want to stay connected to see how they’re finding innovative ways to share their love of acrobatics with our local Bay Area community.
Also, I want to point out that teaching adults can be a bit of a challenge. Our needs, abilities, and acquisition of new skills is often very different than what works for most kids. I know this as a skating coach of 10+ years. I’ve taken classes with four coaches at Acrosports (Tonya, Andre, Micah, and Carl), and they all seemed very knowledgeable about the sport, as well as incredibly cognizant of adult abilities and, in turn, our potential limitations. They push you to exceed your own expectations but respect your judgment if you decide you shouldn’t be doing a specific element. They can do this because they understand how to convey concepts like proper technique and build upon skills you’ve already mastered when teaching you new, more advanced skills. This is the cornerstone of a good athletic program, in any sport.
In sum, highly recommended! Give it a try.
