My husband and I had been coming here for years. While I’m waiting for him to finish his hair cut, I guess it’s a good time to finally write them a review.
We always go to the stylist Dennis, he’s amazing with his coloring and never leave us disappointed. His assistant Tina is amazing as well, they are both very nice and easy to talk to. Every time when I come I always ask Dennis for suggestions and all his recommendations turn out fabulously.
The only complain that I have about this place is that it’s cash only like most other Asian places. But if you want awesome fobby hair styles/​colors, I wouldn’t mind carrying some extra cash!

After visiting many stylists, one day I prayed to the Lord to recommend me the best one. The Lord showed me in my dream, Jerry is the one to see. I have been visiting him since. He not only graduated from the best hair school in LA and he is great!

This is my secret place to do my hair perm and color.
No matter how hard to deal with my hair, Jerry always helps me patiently. Even my dear monster (human for sure) only comes here for hair cut because he never likes hair dresser top sale products or service to him. Jerry not even BS anything beside hair that’s really A plus.

Jerry is such a detailed, kindhearted hair stylist. He cuts my entire family’s hair. He listens to all our requests, and provides advice if asked for. He also advises us to treatments and products that has been so helpful. After my mom had her hair done once by him, we have been committed to him ever since. She drives an hour to the salon once every 2 – 3 months to maintain her hairstyle (pixie cut). If you ever plan to visit this salon which you should, ask for Jerry, you won’t be disappointed.

I started coming here 2 years ago and I have honestly never had a hairstylist as patient and down with the details as Dennis and the crew here at A Plus. From cutting long hair to short hair, Dennis has always made a hairstyle that fits what I am looking for. Highly recommend this salon!

This is a great place to go for fab haircut — I’ve been going to Jerry for over 10 years — My hair is very curly and thick NOT stick straight beautiful asian hair!!! NO problem — he’s just a great stylist and a great person too! All the peep that work here are awesome.

I’ve been coming here for 10+ years. Dennis is my hair stylist. He very passionate about what does and always takes his time to cut my hair. I also get color treatment here, the result is very consistent.

I’ve been coming here for years and have to say I’m happy with my hair cut/​perm every time I come, especially with the help of Dennis. The wait time was horrendous couple years back, but it has improved. My last visit for cut and perm was only 4 hours compared to 6. I think it also helps if you can book the first appointment of the day. What I really like about this place is that people are friendly but not chatty. They give you honest opinion but don’t try to sell you products. The hairstylist takes time with your hair but is efficient.

This review is long overdue. My husband and I have been going to Jerry for our haircut and styling for the past two years and our experiences have always been great! What prompted me to write this review finally was my recent experience.
I just gave birth to our baby girl last week and growing up in a traditional Chinese family, I had to oblige to some traditions such as no hair washing to prevent future headaches (reportedly).
However, after going through labor and spending four days in the hospital, my hair was very much greasy and too much to bear for a month. After I was discharged, Jerry and his staff took me in without an appointment and I was able to get my hair washed. They also blew dry my hair very quickly. I felt so refresh and was then ready to go home with my baby :) Jerry and his staff are the best!
For all those moms delivering at CPMC, I suggest that you make your appointment or call them to have your hair done before you go home!

Jerry is the man for men’s hair. He’s consistent and super nice guy. Very patient and understanding.

I had a Japanese straight perm and it came out wonderful. Jerry was very honest about possibly having some damage on the highlights. He suggested to stop highlighting my hair and keep it one color. Jenny was the one who did the straightening. She did a great job and amazing hair wash. Ahhhh… I was so relaxed.
I will be back for a cut and color.

I had Jerry cut my hair and he was very good at listening to what I wanted and gave me what I asked for. Although people say this place is good at cutting Asian hair, I wouldn’t doubt they would be just as good at cutting non Asian hair, because they listen to what you want!
Their price is reasonable and they are professional. I asked for my hair to be thinned out; I have historically always had problems at Asian hair salons because i always get crazy layers which cause my thick and slightly wavy asian hair (i know… rare!) to stick out like thick fish wire. Jerry knew my exact frustration and knew to cut strands of hair on the layers of hair under the top so that the top layer’s weight keeps the frizzy short hairs down.
Finally a place in my own hometown that can cut my hair the way I want it. Thanks Jerry!

I just went back to Dennis for an updated haircut and this may be my best in a while! I have been perming my hair in the recent years and finally went back to straight hair. Dennis’ skills with the scissors is one of the best I’ve seen! I love my new hair cut today and I am ready for the summer!
I showed him a photo and I got what I wanted! Thanks again!

If I’m in the mood to try my hair bang, Dennis is definitely a go-​to person to get it done. Hmmmm… i can only give three stars cos I had to wait it for sooooooo long despite the fact I had scheduled my appointment. Very disappointed.

Well, here’s the scoop. If you’re not used to an Asian place of doing business, meaning having to wait hours past you appt time, having little attention paid to you, and only shelling out $ 40ish for a haircut, then go elsewhere.
As an Asian person with stick straight black, flat and boring hair… I’m amazed that Dennis can work it. Alright, he does a pretty darn good job layering my hair and giving it Oomph! Get this though. You can pay $ 95 and get the same layering, maybe a bit better, but it’ll fall flat when it grows out the same way it does with a $ 40 haircut. My point is that it’s better for me to spend less money on the same hair and more money on buying my little daughter cute shoes!
Btw, if you’re not into the whole wispy, almost mullet like Asian style, I would say, in Canto, «mmm ho tau bok». If you can’t say that, you probably don’t want to hit this place up. :)
Street parking is pretty bad. I would bus it … :). 1 Calif, 38 Geary, … alles good.

Today was one of those days where I just want a haircut. I remember my sisters telling me about A-​Plus and how awesome their haircuts were so I decided to drop in. They saw me right away. No appt needed. I guess the guy I saw was Dennis, not sure. He has a spiky mo-​hawked looking do and a side bag of scissors. It was a slow day with one other person in the salon and Dennis just came in the door about 15 minutes after I came in. I had no idea what I wanted but just googled up a short do and he said ’ you like it short?’ (ha ha ha) I guess.
Anyways, he shredded my hair good and after an hour, I came out with a layered A cut. Mom likes it so I’m kinda worried but I guess it’ll do for now. I would come back.

5 stars for the decent price ($ 32) and scissor skills of jerry…
1.been having my haircut here for 5^th time already.
2. if your asian guy looking for an asian hairstyle, try them. it would be very helpful to bring a picture of hairstyle you wish to adapt. They are good at listening to your request so speak up…
3. it is worth the wait. Regardless of my appointment, i have to wait for at least 30 mins… So be prepared, or else…

Hello, my name is Christina, and I have hair separation anxiety. I’ve been going to Dennis for around 10 years, or whenever it was that he opened up shop, because he’s the only one I trust to layer my super straight, super fine Asian hair. If you have straight Asian-​esque hair that you want layered, you’d be hard-​pressed to find anyone better than Dennis.
My tip is to be as specific as possible about what you want if you want to avoid mis-​cuts.
$ 40 for a hair cut. .. and my one gripe about A-​Plus: Sometimes, especially on weekends, it is SO busy, and they don’t schedule properly so I’ll end up spending 2’ish hours there, including wait and cutting time. I don’t like waiting, but my hair separation anxiety prevents me from going elsewhere. ..
