Thrifty Rent A Car

We got to the rental counter and the person helping us pitched us the prepay fuel option. She told us the gas in San Francisco was just under $ 4.00 a gallon. Based upon that, we took the option. While driving around the Bay Area, gas was about $ 2.69 nowhere near $ 4.00. We were scammed.

The staff at the counter where you get your car, was not friendly or helpful. As I was picking up a car at SFO, I thought they would ask me about using the bridges and paying the toll. The woman helping me did not. But the man helping the other family there talked to that family about it. So I asked about the toll. She told me I would only be charged for the times I cross the bridge. So I opted to take it. When I was signing all of the prompts on the little screen, I asked about it again. Confirming if I cross the toll 10 times and the toll was $ 2, I would be charged $ 20. She said yes, but there is a $ 1 convenience fee. So I said, okay, so $ 30. She said yes. I went on my way. Then when I went to return my car, I find out it is an unlimited toll usage and is charged PER DAY! I was being charged over $ 60 for crossing the bridge 1 time. I wanted to use this service because I knew I would be cross during rush hour and I wanted to go in the fast lane.
After speaking with 3 different people about the miscommunication, they finally took the charge off of my card and let me deal with the toll violation. The woman who gave me my car told me I could NOT use my SoCal Fastrak (same toll system, now that I have asked around). So this whole thing could have been avoided had the person who helped me knew what she was talking about.
The car was fine, very simple.
