San Dimas Sheriff

We have had many opportunities over the past 40 years to contact the County Sheriff’s Department. Every single time they have responded quickly and professionally. We would not hesitate to call them for any issue needing their services.

I never thought that in this stage of my life I would be dealing with a racist cop. I was heading west on Bonita Ave near the Post Office. As I approached the Post Office I noticed a Sheriff Patrol Vehicle exiting the driveway and trying to make a left onto Bonita. Since I had the right of way and the cop did not have his sirens lights on I continued driving and didn’t «allowed» the Sheriff’s car to merge in. Well I might as well committed murder. I was pulled over. Once the Officer approached my car, the first thing the Officer shouted at me was «what kind of idiot are you? Why wouldn’t you let me in». I explained to him that I saw his car has stopped and I proceed driving since I had the right of way. He was not happy with my response. He continued with his insults and asked for my license. Once my license cleared, he approached my car again and continued to insult me. Eventually he said, «I won’t ticket you since I don’t have my book with me». I not sure why I would get a ticket since I had not broken any law. He further threaten me by saying «you and I will be seeing each other again. I suggest you stay out of San Dimas.» I’m 50 yrs old. I was raised in San Dimas. I went to Elementary, Middle School, and I’m a proud alumni of San Dimas High class of ’85. Never in my entire life have I ever experienced such hostile and hateful behavior. I was actually fearful for my well being. For a moment, I thought the officer was going to strike me. To the people of color please report this type of abuse to higher authority. We should not have to take this clear violation of our rights.

I walked out of my condo today to discover that my vehicle was missing, with my purse, wallet, and keys inside. I have lived here for 13 years, and never would think my vehicle would be at risk in front of my garage door! As I called the police in a panic, the dispatcher took my information, and then began talking and laughing with someone in the background. I was in tears, and this made me feel worse. Furthermore, they never suggested that my car may have been towed, and definitely did not check for me. I have never been in this situation, and I was super shocked about my missing vehicle, so a tow wasn’t my first thought. You would think a trained professional would suggest that to me, but sadly they did not.
After waiting for an officer for awhile, it became clear that it was unimportant to them. My neighbor actually saw me standing outside upset, and suggested that I call the local tow place to see if my vehicle was there. Of course it was! Not only did they make me feel stupid for calling, but they didn’t help with my issue at all. Thanks San Dimas Sheriffs Dept, and sorry if I interrupted your deputy’s break in the ampm parking lot with my unimportant call.

This review is regarding my visit on ¾/​15.
I was really disappointed with the department. I came here because I believed that someone was trying to involve me in a scam. I went on my lunch time with all the information ready to drop off. I did not need to talk to a deputy; I just wanted them to have the information just in case someone else were to have the same problem. I did not want it happening twice. But they insisted that I wait to talk to someone. They called someone on the phone to «start the process». I talked to a deputy over the phone to give him my information. After I gave him my address, he replied, «Oh, you don’t live in San Dimas?» I stated no but I worked in San Dimas and this was the closest police station from work. When I hung up and went back to sit down, the guy at the desk asked the same question about where I was from, which I thought was odd.
After I told them my problem, they let me know that there was another guy there for the same reason. I talked to this guy and we had the same exact situation, even down to the fraudulent check with the same signature.
After waiting a few minutes, a deputy came to talk to me outside. Within a minute, and without hearing my story, the officer told me that there was no crime and there was nothing that they could do. He gave me my «evidence» back and sent me on my way. Confused, I sat in my car for a little wondering why they wouldn’t even take the info just for future reference. Then I saw the guy I had talked to earlier and a deputy walking and stopped to talk right next to my car. Of course, being the nosy person that I am, I stayed and listened. I am to find out that he had the same problem and had done the exact same thing I had, but his deputy said that there would be an investigation. I did not understand what the difference was until I heard him reading his address. The other guy was from San Dimas. This really angered me. I did not get any help because I live 10 minutes out of the city?! I guess I had no idea that sheriff departments only served the people that lived inside of their own city. Either way, I was very disappointed with the service. God forbid, I get into some kind of accident in San Dimas. They’ll take one look at my license and leave me there to die.

One hopes to never have a need to contact local law enforcement, but I’m very pleased to say that when my mom went missing this morning, the San Dimas Sheriff responded with the utmost in kindness and professionalism. Everyone from the lady who connected me to the dispatcher, to the dispatcher herself, to the three officers who came to the house, was very kind and patient with me and helped me get the ball rolling to find my mom (happy ending: my mom pulled into the driveway just as I was speaking to the deputies!).

RACIST, I’ve seen only one African-​American deputy. The rest r CAUCASIAN n they profile most of us. My son has been stop so many times, walking, on car cuz HIS BLACK n I tell him to b careful cuz that’s what’s going to happened to him a lot. One of them even said to me «I don’t want to have to come back, unless it’s to have carne asada tacos» yes I’m mexican n my son’s sperm doner is BLACK. Forgot we have to b

i have had to call them on 2 separate occasions and i was pleased by their professionalism. the last officer was actually very nice and even attentive– shocker from any cop, right? granted, i did not have any violent altercation, train accident, mayhem, death, robbery, etc. at my place. however, i will keep all the other reviews in mind in case something escalates and i need them for life threatening issues. until proven otherwise, i will stick with the 5 stars.

Well I don’t like any Sheriff’s Dept but I have had to actually deal with San Dimas. I have had a few instances with these guys. One they will ticket you for anything and everything… Two they are not nice or friendly AT ALL… and 3 they are just mean in San Dimas. The only positive experience I have had is when my credit card got stolen they send an officer to take a report. She was cordial and filed the report and then never followed up. I pretty much took care of everything on my own. Welcome to San Dimas’s finest…

My mother’s house was robbed and we had strong reason to suspect a family member committed the robbery. Because we suspected a family member, the officers at the scene refused to take a police report, saying that my mother would never prosecute. We called a couple days later and insisted on filing a report. Instead of sending us an officer, the Sheriff sent us a woman to talk us out of filing a report who was also not qualified to write a report. My mother was later robbed again by the same individual.
