Holy Name of Mary Church

2÷28÷16 first time attending mass & LOVED it! Felt welcome & comfy asap. Modern, airy, bright, comfy padded benches, parishioners smiling & greeting each other. The priest was light hearted and delivered a swift & positive message. Choir sang & moved me with their songs especially as I read the words on the huge screens. I’m so happy I’m returning and get to also spend that quality time with my dear mamasitah!

Love this church, I love going back to mass since I started going to Holy Name of Mary, The priest are awesome !!! GOD is awesome !!!

In 2012 my husband and I were blessed to be married by Fr. Rich. After yrs of not belonging to a particular congregation it was important to us to be married in our faith. After visiting various parishes, the minute we stepped foot at HNM it truly felt like we were home. We are so blessed to be part of this wonderful church community. And I cannot say enough kind words about Fr. Rich. We have come to him several times for counseling and he and his staff have gone above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and loved. We feel so fortunate to be part of this parish.

Definitely hard to find a church as great as holy name. I have definitely had my fair share of churches but none even compared. Such a welcoming environment and down to earth feel which is great for the young crowd. Grew up in this church and I go every time in visiting my family.

I love this church! I’ve never felt so welcomed walking into church. The parishioners are very nice treat you like family and Father Rich is amazing. I never get bored listening to him. I always leave church feeling good and wanting to be/​do better.

They did away with a great priest, Father Tom who is now in Chino Hills. I will follow him there, despite I live walking distance to HNM

My daughters, my whole family, and I love coming to this Church-​Parish. specially the spanish Mass. Father Rich is everyone’s favorite– well, everyone that forms part of this parish make us feel welcomed every time we come here. We live in Glendora, so sometimes for the distance we go to our local St. Dorothy, but we prefer the drive to come to this amazing Holy Name of Mary Church!

I love my parish! This is home and my children enjoy coming. They especially love the donut fellowship that follows Mass. Father Rich is a favorite!

I’m very picky about what church I go to whereas my husband is fine with whichever is closest to home. I drive and extra 30 minutes to go to Holy Name of Mary. What stands out, aside from the warm and friendly atmosphere, are the priests. They give homilies that teach the meaning of the Gospels as well as encourage the people to examine their practices and lives. AND they talk to the congregation as mindful educated adults. My biggest pet peeve about other churches is that I feel like I’m being spoken to as a preschooler. The priests are accessible and the staff is always helpful. There aren’t any hoops to jump through to find out about baptisms and classes, etc. Even my children are far more likely to sit through Mass without hassle than any other church we’ve been to. I have never heard anything negative about this church. The only complication I’ve run across is trying to get into the school. They have such a long waiting list. I was heartbroken I couldn’t send my children there.

My husband & I «shopped» for a parish to call home immediately after moving to LaVerne, to plan in advance for our future families needs. We wanted a church community that was warm & welcoming & as committed to serving its parishioners as well as the community at large. We also wanted a Catholic Church staffed with passionate, approachable priests who were mindful of the struggles ordinary Catholics face today & who could deliver relevant, practical, uplifting homilies that address these challenges & thus help us grow deeper in our faith. Last but not least, we wanted a parish with a strong Catholic grade school that is committed to excellence. All these criteria & more were met when we encountered Holy Name of Mary, so we consider ourselves blessed to have been parishioners at HNM for more than fifteen years now. It’s also wonderful to be inspired to «pray twice» by singing with our soulful musicians in our elegant worship space, no matter which weekend mass you chose to attend. As our children complete grade school at HNM & progress towards young adulthood, we look forward to becoming more involved with the thriving Life Teen program our church offers. We are confident that we will be continue to be able to give & receive from our parish no matter the stage of life in which we find ourselves. We hope you make time to meet Father Rich Danyluk & our fellow parishioners and catch the same warmth & inspiration we initially experienced, beckoning us to become a part of this parish family.

This church community has done the impossible. My son actually looks forward to mass and no longer sees it as a chore.
Although I am not Catholic, my wife and son are. As are all members of the church, I am Christian but haven’t taken the step to become Catholic as of yet, but since my wife is… and wanted to be married in the church… I agreed to attend and raise my son Catholic so the Cardinal would give his blessings to our marriage.
Previously, we’d been members of another parish west of here in the San Gabriel Valley. The priest was petty, vindictive, and preached his homilies on what he saw as slights to the labor movement instead of Christ. Our fellow parishoners reflected a beat down attitude as well… many of them we talked to only went there because it was required since their children attended the parish school.
What a miserable chore it was to attend mass there.
When my son (who is disabled and needs our help pretty much constantly) started college at the University of La Verne, we found ourselves at the school almost every weekend helping him with his work.
We needed to find a church in the area we could attend when we couldn’t be at home.
Our first visit to Holy Name of Mary was so enlightening. The parishoners welcomed us. People show up early to chat and catch up with each other. Complete strangers come across the large sanctuary just to shake our hands and welcome us.
The priests, currently lead by Father Rich Danyluk, give challenging homilies and make us examine our spiritual lives. They are loving, serious dialogues that don’t make us feel worthless and let us leave church feeling better about our God and putting new energy into improving our lives and relationships with each other.
My fellow parishoners seem to feel the same way. Even on the Saturday masses, I can’t remember seeing a time when less than 1,000 people showed up.
We went back a few times to our old parish at the beginning, but it never felt like home or even very spiritual. We felt like family here from the very beginning so we changed our registration and never looked back.
Yes, the church has had it’s challenges and curve balls thrown at it over the years but the people of this parish just refuse to let it knock them down and have built a vibrant, loving, friendly, and spiritual community here.
I am very proud to call this church «ours.»

I love this parish. As a Catholic who has lived in various parts of Los Angeles in the last 10 years, I’ve been searching for a parish that in genuinely welcoming and warm. Both the architecture and parish community exude that kind of hospitality. First off, the architecture is gorgeous. The church is spacious and the alter is beautiful. The parish community put in a lot of love and time when decorating the church for various feast days and holidays. In terms of the parish community, they have always been very warm and welcoming to every person who enters the church. Father Rich welcomes you at the foyer before mass. The church choir (we like the youth choir at 10AM Sunday mass) is always amazingly talented. The ushers are helpful. The parishioners are all super nice and friendly. Father Rich always does a great job on his homilies– always engaging and relevant without being overbearing. My fiancé is a sometimes Catholic who rarely attends mass but since his first visit to HNM, he actually looks forward to mass here.
We love HNM so much that we are getting married here next year. The parish staff in charge of weddings (Janice) is super helpful and sweet. We are looking forward to meeting with Father Rich for our wedding preparation.

Oh how I love this church! I can’t wait to move back to San Dimas so that we can continue going here. Unlike some other churches that feel cold when you walk in, there’s just such a welcoming sense of warmth and love there. The staff is friendly and the sermons are always beautiful. I agree with Priscilla, my husband and I are no longer teens but we love the youth mass! It’s so much fun and uplifting. Last year we attended the morning Easter mass and as expected, it was packed. There was no room in the church so we had mass outside and that was by far the most religious mass I’ve ever attended. There’s something about being outside admist God’s creations and listening to his word on the day His Son was risen. Also, I’m Christian, not Catholic and I’ve always felt very welcomed here.

I go to the 5 pm youth mass, and I am hardly young, but I so enjoy the music by Matt Matsumoto and his chior. They add so much to the mass that I now make it my regular mass.
The energy that is given by the music and the young people give us, the not so young, a little pep in our step as we leave mass.
I also love to listen to Fr. Rich and enjoy watching the relationship he has with the young members of his church.

The staff is very friendly… I went in to schedule a date for my son’s baptism and they explained all the details and enrolled me in a class for the baptism… my husband and I come here once or twice a month for mass and it’s always clean and a very admirable environment! The church itself is gorgeous…
