Great place to come and watch the sunset. The seafood is actually pretty good, standard bar food and drinks. The seating along the window is good anytime of day if you can get a seat. Servers have been rude on more than one occasion, good luck flagging down a server to take your order.

Wonderland is such a fun place! Their window seating is great for sunset, but you have to get there early enough if you want a good view. Much to my surprise, the whole bar cheered at sunset… I guess they forget it happens everyday haha, but it’s still fun nonetheless. It’s a great place for drinks and happy hour. I had a delicious Mother Earth brewed draft. And their food is tasty too, the beer cheese and salty pretzels balls, omg I ordered some extra chips to scoop up every drop of that beer cheese! And there was some live acoustic music! Can’t go wrong with a visit to wonderland! #sandiegofoodgirls

The view here is amazing. They have the absolute best view of the water and it’s so relaxing to watch the waves and just hang out with friends. We came here for drinks. They have a really great selection of beers and even have the Lagunitas little sumpin sumpin wheat ale which is really tasty. It’s a bit loud with the music playing and usually it’s really busy. I didn’t try the food. This is an excellent place for getting drinks. I would recommend coming here in the late afternoon or evening to catch the sunset. A guy was outside across the street flying one of those acrobatic windsurfing kites and making it dance all over the place. It was really cool and very mesmerizing. An extra star for that experience.

Pros: Best View, Good Food, Good Beer Cons: Service As with most, I regularly end up here for the view and good food which has yet to let me down. Quality ingredients and a wide variety of options, awesome guac, burgers, nachos, etc. Decent beer selection as well, usually impressed with the rotating tap options. Really one of my favorite views in this part of town. This being said, the place has been quite crowded lately and as a result the service has been lacking. For my past four visits sitting by the windows(both week day and weekend), it has taken 10 – 15 mins to get a servers attention, 10 – 15 mins to receive my beer after ordering, and quite a few careless problems in between but i don’t want to ramble about particulars. Not saying I’m gonna stop coming here, but probably just gonna sit at the bar until they appear to step up their service.

Very good food $ 48 for 2 meals and 2 beers Fish stew was great the rue was a bit spicy, but that is how I like it. The fish and chips was also very good, the above average The view is a second floor across from the beach but offers bench seating along the window !!! We will be back! l. 70 a 80s music.

All glass front design makes panoramic ocean views second to none. Expected mediocre food with this view but got a whole lot more. Fish n’chips was big enough to share with an app and outstanding! Nice local craft beer selection. Highly recommended if you want to show off Ocean Beach

A friend and I decided to go here for dinner and drinks last night as we’d sampled their food during Restaurant Night a few weeks ago and thought it seemed very promising. We got there around 7pm and decided to sit at the bar as it was not very crowded. After sitting and talking for several minutes we looked to see if anyone was working the bar. There were only about 10 people sitting there and they all had drinks. We saw two workers behind the bar and one looked at us and said«I’ll be right with you.» Ok, thats fine. Several minutes later, still no service. So we continued to wait. At this point another group of 4 came in and decided to stand right up against us at the bar, even though the entire restaurant was pretty much empty. After several minutes of being bumped into and listening to them scream conversations making it impossible for us to talk, we decided to move to one of the perimeter tables as we saw a waitress serving drinks and food to the people there. Sitting at the bar for 20 minutes was obviously not going to get us any service. We moved and sat and waited, waited, waited. Meanwhile, the pushy group received drinks within minutes of taking our seats. After a half hour of this we picked up and left. We did inform the staff at the door what had happened. I’m really disappointed as we live nearby and were looking forward to trying the food. As it stands, we won’t be back.

I’ve probably been here a total of 15 times but always forgot to review! I’ve mostly been for drinks, but have had apps and brunch. The breakfast enchiladas are TODIEFOR. Seriously, if I could buy the sauce on its own I would. The drinks are good, but the prices are pretty high which is why I really only come for happy hour or during brunch. As far as atmosphere, I love the view(of course!) but am not a huge sports fan, so I try to avoid this place during games(unfortunately that includes during brunch on Sundays!). I’ve been once for trivia night which was fun. Friendly service that can be spotty at times or spot-on at other times.

So I’ve visited here a couple of times, night and day, literally. One was a date night, and upon my recommendation we came here. And it was one of best dates I’ve ever been on. Sitting by the table, watching the sunset. They had a live guitarist serenading the crowd with acoustic beach music. Delicious food. All around a great night. Reminiscing on my first experience, I decided to have my 30th birthday brunch on New Years Day(which is my real birthday.) I was able to get reservations for 6 no problem a couple of days prior. The table they reserved had a gorgeous view of the pier and the beach. My old friend from boot camp who admittedly never spent time on the beach until he got to San Diego a few weeks ago, took one look and said, «Man…it’s like the set of Baywatch up in here.» With that said, we ordered our food and enjoyed the sunny day. We were taken aback with the amount of dogs that were indoors. At one point they were barking at each other, but it only lasted for a brief moment. Everyone enjoyed their food, which took longer than expected to come out, but my friend’s portuguese sausage was burnt. My woco moco was exactly what I wanted for my birthday — garlicky fried rice paired with a rib sticking hamburger patty and perfectly sunny side eggs to match the shining sun. Overall, a couple of flaws here and there, but nothing that would deter me from coming back. I’m pretty sure they can serve an old leather shoe on a plate because that view is what keeps me coming back.

Apparently, this is the go to place for all my friends who live by the beach. Why? For the longest time I didn’t know. Now I do. First of all, the location is right along the beach. That is never a bad thing… unless there’s a giant tsunami. Good thing we never get tsunamis here. That’s a plus. So that means you can potentially have an excellent view of the beach while you eat, drink and be merry. There’s tons of space. Tables, bar seating, booths… we’re talking plenty of room for you and your friends. Get a big group like we did and you’re good to go. The food and beer don’t disappoint here either. Wonderland has a great craft beer menu. I’m talking about Alpine, Coronado, Ballast Point, Lagunitas, Alesmith, Mother Earth, Modern Times and more. Additionally, they also have some pretty solid and unique dishes to accompany those beer choices. I broke away from my burger-fiending self and went with what I considered a good compromise, the Woco Moco which is their version of a Loco Moco. The hamburger was perfectly cooked, the rice was filling and the eggs were perfect consistency. I didn’t regret the decision at all. Our group’s server was friendly, always smiling and was always checking in on us… and tolerated us… so another win there. Match all that with a bunch of TVs, the fight on TV, a bunch of friends, drinks, food and countless hours passed with those friends… and that’ll do it. Now I get it. Wonderland is where it’s at if you’re in OB. Plain and simple. Now go have yo self a good time.

I don’t visit Ocean Beach as often but was curious about Wonderland Ocean Pub as I heard their 2nd floor views of the ocean were spectacular. Friend had a surprise birthday here some time ago and we all had a great time at Wonderland. So I recently revisited over the weekend to try them out again. First visit we ordered: FRESHOYSTERS(GF) HALFDOZEN(grilled) I didn’t like the oysters that day as they tasted almost lukewarm. It needed more parmesan and more time under the broiler. BEEFSKEWERS: I don’t currently see this on the menu but remember we liked the tender beef on the wooden sticks. MULE: Yeah I was disappointed about the mule being served in a mason jar. It’s not the same thing as a shiny copper cup that I want to put in my purse(j/k). Second visit we ordered: BLOODYWONDERFULMARY The bacon salted rim was divine and their housemade bloody mary mix was spot on. There was a perfect balance of tomato juice to spices THEHOTTESTBLOODYINTOWN Hands down, this was one of THEBEST bloody marys I’ve had. The ghost pepper & habanero infused vodka really is spiiiiicy. There’s a heat kick at the end of the sip. Again, the house made bloody mary mix with the bacon salted rim was a chicken winner that day for me(that’s my attempt to be not-funny like Guy Fieri). HOTBEERCHEESE&SALTYPRETZELBALLS The pretzel bites were nicely salted but the pretzel shell felt harder than normal. Friend commented how the cheese sauce was gritty and wasn’t velvety. He said it tasted like a cheese sauce gone wrong when you try to make this for the very first time at home. We didn’t like this appetizer at all. OCEANPUBCAMPECHANA This was a nice size portion for $ 14. We only later noticed that it was missing saltine crackers and the house salsas. Plus, there was no avocado in the campechana(waitress later brought out a few slices when we told her so that was nice). There seemed to be more shrimp and octopus than any other seafood. I don’t think the cold tomato broth tasted ‘zesty’ as described. WOCOMOCO(WONDERLAND’S VERSIONOFLOCOMOCO) You can choose the doneness of the upgarded(+$ 4) short rib patty. Unfortunately, the patty was prepared well done versus medium as requested. Friend ordered eggs over easy which was prepared over medium. The patty wasn’t too bad even though it was prepared more done than we had liked. The gravy was too butter-heavy with the short rib patty, the eggs, and garlic fried rice. The Woco Moco might be popular because a girl, eating alone next to us, ordered the same thing and finished the entire plate. Service was ok. The entire restaurant was packed so it’s hard to get a bar seat by the window. It’s bench style seating if you want the view so it gets cramped with neighbors. Wonderland Ocean Pub is a fun place to watch football, catch up with friends, enjoy the views. We didn’t think much about the food but it’s worth returning to see if there’s anything else on the menu to try.

More than anything, Wonderland’s view is simply spectacular. It’s got your typical pub fare, kicked up a notch with fresh veggies and ceviche. I’d say come here when the weather is good so that you can sit beneath the curve-around bench windows, but I have to remember that Wonderland is in San Diego which means that nine times out of ten, the weather matches the view: stunning. The buffalo cauliflower florets are pretty darn spicy, so be warned. Every single wrap I’ve seen at this place has been huge — bring your appetite. This spot manages to be fairly casual, but a little nicer than your typical, sandy OB beach side restaurant. There’s only one stall in the women’s bathroom, which seems a little odd for such a large establishment. Other than that, I don’t see any downsides. Price is right, too. Come hungry, leave happy.(Then head to the beach for a post-lunch nap!)

Awesome place to hangout to watch games(especially patriots and other new England teams). Very cool to have a patriots bar right down the street loving 3000 miles away from our favorite team. The atmosphere is casual and loud. Lots of people in sweats and jerseys. Another great thing about the atmosphere is the large open windows facing the ocean. Try to come at sunset and you won’t be disappointed by the amazing views! We have always sat at the bar top which I suggest. All the bartenders are quick and friendly and you get the most direct access to the TVs. Their draft list is extensive and also have really great specialty cocktails. I tried the Moscow mule and the Catalina BLVS which were both really good. Food wise everything we have tried was really great. I urge trying the ahi poke! Fresh and delicious with a little bit of spice. The pretzel balls with cheese dipping sauce are also amazing if you’re looking for pub food. For their mussel monday special raw oysters are ½ off which we took advantage of! They were fresh, clean and prepared perfectly. We thought the tacos(lobster and scallop) were decent but nothing to write home about. We will be back for another football night soon!

My friends and I went here for lunch, and the food was just okay. The big highlight was that it was near the beach, and you could get a good view of it through their windows, which made the whole experience rather pleasant. For the food itself, I got the Big Buddha, and it honestly tasted like something I would get at a Hawaiian BBQ place for breakfast. It had rice, and a bunch of various different meats on top of it such as a beef patty and various sausages. It was kind of like a loco moco. It was however, a bit too sweet in all parts, and wasn’t really to my liking beyond that. The patty also wasn’t all that tasty, and a bit bland. It was a lot of food however, and I was really full after, which is a nice plus.

Had brunch with a group here, and the service was decent. We split send bottles of champagne and ordered a bit of orange juice, which comes in little carafes at $ 2. There word carafe is a little deceiving. But no harm. One of my friends has the chilaquiles, which were quite tasty. She ordered both sauces. She thought it was spicy. I thought it was mild. So be forewarned. She wished they’d had more eggs because it was huge and only had two. I got the short ribs breakfast. I loved the beans and the meat was flavorful, but I literally picked out chunks of fat from my plate. The beans were nicely cooked. I appreciated the fresh tortillas. I also got the garlic fried rice, which was okay, but not great. I had enough leftovers for another full meal! Great portions. My other friends ordered the pancakes with bananas and peanut butter, the spinach croissant sandwich, and soy chorizo scramble. The sandwich was a hit. The pancakes were good but no syrup? Soy chorizo was devoured, but the accompanying potatoes were left behind. Don’t order the tea if you’re here though. Sadly it tasted of coffee.

Bleh. Bar food with a bland taste. You want to like this place because of its fantastic location, & the huge crowd of tourists having a blast that you can hear from the beach across the street. But it’s just that — a tourist trap. Probably will find my way back here at some point, but just for a drink and the view. I’ll pass on the food.

Date of visit: 9÷13÷2015 Come here for the gorgeous view — oh, and the football. Crystal is in town and some of her friends highly recommended this bar, so we headed over Sunday morning for some food and football. If you come during an intentionally busy time, then service is going to be super slow. Although it took a while for everything to come out, we had a great time talking and enjoying the view. There is no dedicated parking lot as far as I could tell, so we decided to try and parking in one of the public lots nearby. That was full, but we got lucky with a spot on the street. Coffee. Cam hated the coffee here. He said that it got the job done, but it should have been better, especially considering it was a breakfast place. I’m kind of ambivalent towards the coffee conflict because I wasn’t expecting it to be great, but I was just surprised at Cam’s frustration about it. Red Sangria. I believe this was a simple sangria mix with some fruit thrown in. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t the best sangria ever. I did appreciate the fresh fruits, which I snacked on while waiting for our food to come out. Woco Moco. This is Wonderland’s take on the loco moco — with the only difference of having kale in their garlic fried rice. Unfortunately, this was also the part that Cam didn’t like. I thought that the patty, egg, and gravy were perfect, but it definitely could have benefited from just plain rice. That’s my opinion at least — I felt that the fried rice was a little to heavy with everything else. It’s supposed to cut down on the heaviness of the dish, not add to it. French Toast. This was really amazing french toast. I really liked the non dairy coconut cream that came with the toast, but I also asked for it on the side to reduce melting. The dish also comes with an ample amount of butter and syrup, which we definitely used up. I was a little sad that there were no waffles, but I will have to try the pancakes if we ever go back. Overall, Wonderland is a pretty good pub to go to for Sunday morning football. All of their TVs are labeled with the game and time that will be playing, so it’s easy to get situated. Come early though since the bar filled up fast once the games started.

The restaurant downstairs was so crowded during lunch hour on Sunday… I didn’t even notice there was a restaurant upstairs and was wondering why people were going up and down. So I took a peek and to my surprise, a beautiful restaurant!!! The hostess told me there was no wait so I took our group of 4 upstairs. I wanted mimosas so the waitress offered a bottle of champagne($ 10 special WOWWWW) and brought over orange juice and then later grapefruit juice per my request. Mix yoself. Their menu is all kinds of fusion: American, Mexican, Hawaiian… The staff were always around when we had to flag them down for something, which was great. I don’t like hovering service. Beautiful ambience, very cool atmosphere. I loved their big booths where we sat and I especially love the liveliness without the fuss. One star less because the ground beef patty on my Waco Moco dish was bland n flavorless. The garlic rice was yummy. Everything else was good too, as I had a bite of everybody’s dish.

I came here with some friends for a going away party. We had reserved a table for 12 people. Upon arrival, we were told they gave our table away to another party who said it was them. After 15 minutes of waiting, I walked up to the hostess stand and after 15 seconds of the hostesses talking to each other and not acknowledging the customers in front of them, I locked eyes with a hostess who then said, «Hi». I said, «Hi, I was wondering how long it-» and before I could finish, she walked away mid sentence. My friend and I were completely shocked. Now that the hostess stand was empty, I had no choice but to walk away. If I were with a smaller party, I would have walked out and found somewhere else to eat, but since there was a large group of us, that wasn’t an option. We got seated at a very small table, that fit 8 of us. I LOVED the food and thought the price of the Old Aztec Scramble was great for the amount of food we got! Unforunately, I didn’t think the service was great, and if the previous situation didn’t occur, I would have given this place 5 stars. Not too sure if I’d make it back here though.

Last summer, at least one Friday every month consisted of: –Ditching work early –Stand up paddleboarding in Mission Bay –Heading to Wonderland Ocean Pub for happy hour Wonderland’s view, and super low key vibe is as good as it gets in the beautifully unique beach city of OB. With ideal beach view space, it’s shocking that until Wonderland, few establishments took advantage of the location by capitalizing on good food and a good space. Wonderland nailed it. Their mules are fantastic. There is not a bad seat in the house. Nothing feels more west coast chill then getting a happy hour shot at sunset. When that bell dings, it puts a smile on my face. Even if that free shot isn’t good, who cares! You are in the most beautiful city in the country! On most of my mid-day or evening visits they’ve had live acoustic guitarists playing great sets and adding to the chill, and wonderful setting. With all of the above, I had just assumed that the food couldn’t live up to the view. Something had to go awry. But nope. The food is quite good. I’ve had some yummy fish tacos, really good mussels, and how can you go wrong with hot beer cheese & salty pretzel balls?! You can’t! Bring on summer in San Diego for more SUP and more salty balls at Wonderland Ocean Pub!
