Upkeep

I was super amped on this service. We needed a «move-​out» cleaning as we were renting out our condo to tenants for the very first time. We had been in the condo for 5 years, but we are avid cleaners, so there was nothing at all above and beyond to be done, but the blinds, oven, fridge etc. that one would need spotless for a new tenant needed help. We scheduled this appointment in advance and we were given our date and time and that was that. Well, they called the day before to reschedule the time, and push it back an hour. I arranged for a neighbor to let the cleaners in– we had 2 cleaners, a husband and wife team I was told, as part of the package we purchased. They arrived, my neighbor confirmed, and I showed up about 30 minutes into the cleaning time in order to just introduce myself, show my face, and let them know that I would be down the street at the coffee shop, but available if they needed me.
When I showed up, it went down hill. There was one young gentleman in my condo, and there was water all over the floor. I was alarmed because I know what it looks like to mop (we had laminate floors) and what it smells like when cleaning products are used. When I entered, I tried not to judge, but it smelled like dirty, mildewed mop throughout the entire place. I asked where his cleaning partner was because there were supposed to be two cleaners and he said that his aunt was out of town and his uncle dropped him off. This was alarming to me and I realized that I didn’t know who the heck was in my apartment. I stepped outside an called UpKeep and they didn’t know what was going on. They said they would call the cleaner who was hired. I hung up and waited a few minutes and then got a call back. This was a three-​way call with UpKeep and the gentleman who was supposed to be cleaning the apartment with his wife. Basically, he laid into me over the phone. Incredibly hostile, calling me a liar, saying he is at the apartment now and that his car broke down so he had to take a bus home to get it help (during the cleaning appointment, mind you). I had to calm him down and clarify, UpKeep was listening but never intervened. Through all of this I never got an explanation about what exactly happened and why the team was not the team that UpKeep told me would be there. The man on the phone said that he would finish the job and upkeep said they would only charge me for one cleaner… I should have known better.
I went back to the apartment after they said they were done and it was dirtier than before they started. we have a stainless steel sink that was covered in water spots and the countertops were flooded. It REEKED of mildew and they didn’t clean ANYTHING from what I could tell. I’m sure that they left as soon as they got off the phone with me because I complained. The worst part is that this fiasco ate up most of the day and I had to hand over keys to a stinky apartment. Luckily my tenants were not moving in that same day, so my mom and I got there the next morning and cleaned for two solid hours, picked up filth from the floors, scrubbed the tubs, cleaned the oven and the fridge, all blinds, above the fridge, inside cabinets… basically everything that the cleaners said they did but did not. I had to light a candle in each room to help combat the mildew smell.
I took photos and was refunded, but this was a serious waste of my time and incredibly UNSAFE. I will never use this service again, nor would i recommend it to anyone.

Located in Downtown but doesn’t service East Village. It’s like saying you service West Pacific Beach but not East Pacific Beach. Ridiculous!

The cleaners were an hour and a half late. They didn’t say anything about being late when they showed up. Upkeep gave us a discount for the inconvenience which was appreciated. The cleaning itself was pretty good. There were a few things they missed but overall I was happy with the cleanliness of the house.

Mbuva and Jerome we me upkeep team. They certainly impressed me. Worked constantly. Completed all that I asked and scrubbed thoroughly from top to bottom. My house move in ready. They will definitely come back.

Horrible customer service. I booked an appointment on a Sunday morning at eleven. I was waiting until around 11:45 until I decided to call upkeep and see what the hold up was. They said they had forgotten to call me to tell me that they had cancelled the appointment because the cleaning person they used was out sick. Since it was a Sunday afternoon by this point I couldn’t find anyone else to clean my house. I needed the service done that day, so they left me high and dry with no option other than to clean the house later that week. They offered a $ 20 discount, but I wouldn’t trust them with any of my money now.

The Upkeep team did a fantastic job !! Sooo thorough and professional. Very very kind team of folks who did an amazing job — a good scrubbing — not just a wipe/​hotel clean!
I highly highly recommend!

The Upkeepers were super nice and courteous (they were running a little late but texted to let me know.). They did a good job doing an overall clean of our house. i gave 4 not 5 stars because I this was supposed to be more of a ‘spring cleaning’ yet it ended up being more of a maintenance clean. many manageable things didn’t get moved out of the way to be cleaned (the area rugs, some small furniture). Also, I think the vacuum cleaner this team had just wasn’t very good. I noticed hair, dust and debris on the rugs and couch after the team left so went back over and ½ filled my own vacuum canister. They did tell me that i could point out anything i was unhappy with and they’d fix it, but i didn’t really look around until after they left so I’m confident they’d have tried to fix these things. Overall, they were affordable and I’d use them again but I’d take the time to check over a few things before they left (and I’d let them use my vac!).

YOU’RE BETTER OFF SAVING THE MONEY AND DOING IT YOURSELF.
I scheduled a deep cleaning for after Thanksgiving, since I assumed my house (especially my kitchen!) would probably desperately need it. Cleaners showed up 15 mins. late, and left a half hour early. Didn’t touch the oven, even though I paid extra to get that done. They don’t vacuum corners or underneath couches or move items to dust around. And if the cleaning wasn’t mediocre enough, I sat in the yard with my kids to keep them out of the way, and the screaming and vulgar language between the cleaners was so disgusting, I just had to pack up the kids and leave.
Resolution: I called customer service and they refunded me for the oven cleaning and cancelled all future cleanings. DEFINITELY will not use them again.

A friend told me about UpKeep awhile back and couldn’t stop praising the cleaners as well as their accommodating service. I already had a bi-​weekly cleaner at the time but it became such a hassle calling and arranging appointments with them to fit both of our schedules. I decided to checkout Upkeep and was pleasantly surprised at how easy their booking system was.
I booked my first appointment with them last week after some friends stayed over for the weekend. There was nothing bad to say about the entire experience; Patricia and Maria came on time, they were very thorough, and made my apartment a livable place again! I’m now planning to book UpKeep on a bi-​weekly basis and trust that they’re going to give me that same amount of excellence every time.

Wow the maids were amazing! My place was extremely dirty, my roommates don’t clean! The maids came in and turned it upside down. They washed the dishes, cleaned my oven, kitchen and living floors, organized everything in the bathroom. Cleaned the shower. I couldn’t ask for a better service, I will be calling them on a regular basis.

I would never recommend this company to ANYONE I made and appointment for Saturday at 10 am now first let me say I worked all night and could not sleep till they came and left I get a call saying the crew would be no more than a hour late so at 11:15 am I called asking the status the lady maria answered and said give her 2 min she would check called me back said the crew had car trouble but they were less than a mile away from me I gave them the benefit I get an email saying my appt was canceled I immediately called back asking why was my appt canceled maria said she made me a new appt for 12 noon just in case I told her I had not slept yet and this is inconvenience to me she said she would give me $ 20 off so now once 12: 15 come still no crew I call back and now I get no answer I text I get no answer then Maria calls me back 20 min later asking who I was but she has had my number all week because she had been texting me I tell her where is her crew this is very unprofessional she said give her 2 min she will call and once again check on the crew I never got a call back I called once again and text never a reply so I text maria and told her I don’t want her service and do not charge my credit card because you see they ask for your credit card in advance so after that text I get a email my appt has been canceled this experience was so bad and unprofessional a person would have to be a total fool to read this and use this service I would not recommend this service to my worst enemy

Following my last post, I finally got a response. I was offered a discount on my next cleaning, which I accepted, but made my expectations clear. They sent a new team. I walked in through our garage door to find the same sand that was there for days. I proceeded up the stairs noting they had not been vacuumed. At the top of the stairs, I found a giant pile of clothes laying on the top of my dryer. Part of it was the load of laundry I had in the dryer. The rest were items that I had left in the washer un-​started. Apparently they washed our bath mats with my delicate clothing then only put the bath mats in the dryer and put the rest of the wet load on top of the dryer with the cleaned, dry clothes. Very disturbing. Moving along… our dogs were at the vets all day so I’m not sure why I found dog hair all over the ceramic tile near the front door and in front of the fireplace. Lastly, the chrome desk legs of our desk were covered in dust and fingerprints. Needless to say, this was the last chance I am giving Upkeep. The founder sent us some gourmet rice krispie treats along with a note of apology following the last cleaning. It was a nice touch, but Joe, I suggest you spend your energy and time developing a better hiring process and a clear detailed list of how each cleaning is to be done. Consistency in a company of this size is imperative.

So very pleased with the results of my home cleaning today! Ana and Veronica did a phenomenal job! I feel like I can breathe a lot easier now that house is looking brand spanking new!

First time using upkeep and I’m very impressed. Customer service was great! Their website was easy to book and to pay for services. My house is clean and they did good in the amount of time I had set. I had booked 3 hours, that’s how long they recommended. I knew it wasn’t enough. My house had been neglected and it was a big job. I think if I was willing to pay for longer they would have done even better. They did though get the important things I asked to get done. They did though miss the extras I had asked for like the windows, blinds and inside of fridge. Will definitely be using their services again and now that they know my house hopefully we’ll get the timeframe down! The only reason I did not give them 5 stars was because they didn’t finish and it wasn’t enough time. But great work overall!

I’m a happy customer after coming home to a fresh clean house, thanks Upkeep! I will definitely repeat.

First time using this service and I was thoroughly impressed. The team of two were right on time, in fact they were a few minutes early. Communication was great as one of the ladies spoke perfect english. I was very impressed with the work they did in the bathroom. They got out soap residue thats been stuck there for quiet some time (I was too lazy to get down and dirty on that).
I would definitely recommend and use these cleaners again!

AMAZING cleaning company! booking system was easy… web support was great. Cleaners were on time and very professional. Cleaned my apartment very well! Even took care of small little details like towel folding in bathrooms… bed making… organization of cables and entertainment boxes etc. Highly recommended! I’ve used homejoy before but this was much better and much cheaper!!!
