U-Haul Moving & Storage of Miramar

The ladies in the office were outstanding!!! I rented a 15ft uhaul to help my mother law move her dad that passed aways furniture! ! I set the trip odometer we went 24 miles total trip. I put 3 gallons gas figuring it gets 10 miles to the gallon! When i retured it Jordan said im 3 gallons short! This kid is aweful customer service for your business! I hope uhaul dont teach these kids ti rip off customers! Jordan ia terrible not even friendly either! If he checks your vehicle in good luck folks

I used this U-​Haul location a couple times over the last three years and had a good experience in the past, but this most recent experience was far better than the previous times. I was greeted promptly, with a polite, and professional hello, can I help you (the three P’s in customer service). Great job so far.
The equipment I rented was clean and in great condition as far as rented moving trucks and trailers can be. The service technician Jordan, was very helpful, fast and courteous as well.
My rental went beyond the estimated contract period and needed to be extended day after day for 5 extra days. Each day I got a polite phone call and/​or text from Debbie Martin, the GM, asking if I needed more time or when I was expecting to return the equipment. This was nice and professional not harassing or annoying, a huge plus. I had enough to deal with and the last thing I wanted was to be pestered by the U-​haul rental office. And that made a big difference in my opinion of this U-​haul location.
Debbie, Toeuk and Jordan were awesome and I wish all service related business’ had employees like them. Thank you !

They’re plenty helpful when you come to get the trucks but they completely fail when you come to return them. They often don’t have someone waiting at the check in location, or they’re too busy to help you. This has happened twice so it’s not a fluke. I’ll never rent here again.

My experience at the uhaul place was really outstanding. Easy pick up, easy drop off. But it was the service by their employee George that made it perfect. George Velasquez is an awesome human being! So professional, & very helpful. Went out of his way to make sure we knew what to do & was so nice about. It’s this kind of service that will make me come back to pick up a truck. Nicely done.

This place had the lowest rates I could find. Renting a truck was easy and quick. There were no surprise fees or any of that.
The woman who helped me and my partner was very helpful. She was very patient and informative with all my questions.
I rented a 10 foot truck. The truck itself was clean, didn’t have a bad odor, and was pretty easy to drive.
Thanks for helping make moving day much more convenient!

No night drop off. That’s a real inconvenience. How much could one of those stupid little boxes cost anyway???
Update:
The woman that works here not only gave me incorrect information about the night dropoff but then argued with me over it. I specifically asked about the drop box & was told they «don’t do that anymore». Evidently, that is not the case. I dropped the truck off at night because it wouldn’t fit in my hotel’s parking garage. I took the keys with me and planned on returning them the next morning (because I was told there wasn’t a drop box). After working loading & unloading trucks until 6am i was woken by an 8am phone call from the same woman demanding I return the keys immediately & that I can’t leave the truck without the keys. I explained how that was my only option to store the truck safely overnight. Then she insisted she told me there WAS a night dropbox. Trust me. If that was an option I would have much rather have left the keys at night than get 2 hours of sleep & drive back. Not only did she provide me with incorrect information but she was extremely rude throught the process. I have to rent a box truck in 2 weeks and you can be sure I will not be renting it from here.
The only reason they got 2 stars is because the truck was clean & ran great. The office staff needs a stern talking to.

My first experience was better than my second.
First time I had a lot of help from the truck assisters but not so much the front office person.
Second time it was kind of the opposite.
It’s strange… I feel like depending on who helps you out, you can end of paying a lot more than you expect.
Service can be a bit slow but I guess it’s the best they can do?
It’s a convenient location and honestly whether it’s crappy or amazing or mediocre place I’ll come back just out of the sheer convenience. UHAUL unfortunately monopolizes the whole moving truck rental business and there isn’t much of a way out of that…
At least with this one I get average service and at an average price.
But like I said, my experience here is varying on who I interact with.

Also, in case you haven’t seen my tip: check your gas tank after you get the paper because often times the gas tank is a lot lower than what is marked on the paper. Get it corrected so you don’t end up paying for gas you haven’t used.

I’m new to the military lifestyle being married to soldier, I expect to visit a u-​haul fairly often. This location is the first one I’ve done business with for our storage needs. They offer military discounts and because we rented a trailer prior to renting their storage, we were given the first month free on top of the military discount! The lady who helped us at the counter was so kind and welcoming… she even had jokes to compliment our day! It was a day in the hottest weather of the week that my husband and I moved furniture from one county to another along with the long ride, I must say that the experience at the u-​haul made the miserably hot day so much tolerable!
There is a loading dock where you can park and unload or load items to/​from your rented storage. The second floor units are cooled, elevator is easily accessible, loading dock is fully secured requiring you to slide an access card after checking in, cameras at every angle, carts of different sizes available to help transport your belongings from loading dock to storage bin. It was easy to store our items and pleased with the unit, the service, and the location.

Waiting for almost 25 minutes to get a refill on propane. I understood they had a few customers so I was patient. I walked back inside and no on was in there. After 20 minutes someone came out to help me and she was improperly filling the propane and on top of that not even paying attention to the safety precautions that are posted all around the filling station. Leaving with two empty propane tanks, thanks uhaul.

I’ve had a horrible experience with the Uhaul in El Cajon, but I had a good experience with this one! It was easy to get to and the employee at the front desk was beyond nice. When we realized we reserved a truck that would be too big for us, she made a great recommendation at another facility even though it was cheaper. I was surprised they let us out of our contract, for no charge, and let us pay less then we agreed. I fully expected a fight and never got one. Here’s a few tips I’ve picked up over 7+ moves.
TIPS:
1. Take pictures of your Uhaul, inside and out, before you leave the lot! It’s free to take pictures but can save you a ton of money if you need them.
2. Write in aaalll damage to your contract. Never believe anyone who says, «Oh we don’t care about that scratch.» If it’s documented, you’re covered.
3. Find a close-​by gas station and do not return the Uhaul without the tank being AT LEAST at the same level as when you rented it. (I tried to return one after only driving 13 miles, about ¹⁄₁₂ of a tank, and they were going to charge me $ 70– which was more than the rental itself.)
4. Your «one day» rental is for 24 hours not at the end of business day so feel free to rent in the middle of the day and return it the next day.

Great in and out service prices were very reasonable. It was close to the house for quick drop off and pick up. Parked the car in the lot 24 hours no issues. Offers mover services and all the equipment for moving yourself, made my wife relax which isn’t easy!

I paid $ 240 online to get a trailer hitch installed. I was called and confirmed of my 11:00 appointment. I busted my tail to get there on time and arrived at 10:55. I waited until 11:25 and the installer never showed. I drove 30 minutes to get there from Del Mar. The owner was very nice in giving me a refund but that did little to take the sting out of busting my tail to get there, expecting a job, that I paid for to get completed, then not have the installer show.

I had two great experiences at this uhaul location. The first was a potential disaster. I had reserved a tow trailer about a week ahead of when I needed it but I reserved it for the wrong date. When I got there it was not in stock because I didn’t pick it up when I had reserved it. The lady working there allowed me to rent the next largest size for the same price. The second positive experience was when I went to return my unused boxes. It was really quick and the guy, Truc I think, was super professional and went out of his way to be extra helpful.

The U-​Haul location is clean, the trucks kept neat, and the service behind the counter is amazing. The women behind the counter were funny, helpful, and awesome. They were even able to help me out with some wardrobe boxes. I rate pretty exclusively on customer service, however I downgraded a star because I do not like the layout of the area. It doesn’t make sense to me to park by the front but not offer an exit for the trucks out the same way.

I interacted with was great. Juliette at the counter was amazing from phone call to payment. I would never thought I would tell anybody to travel to miramar for something, but this place was the real deal.

Easy reservation process and able to upgrade to a bigger unit the day of rental. Also rented a moving truck and the process was quick and efficient. Only drawbacks have been the hours (closes at 7PM) and the storage loading dock is located where all the trucks are so it can be hard to drop off your things if you are also renting a unit there. Otherwise awesome people and clean units/​trucks!

The location was great and easy to get to. The guy sorry I didn’t catch his name was super friendly. My biggest complaint was that my furniture dolly wasn’t in the van when I picked up the truck. We didn’t realize it till we got to the location. I called them to make sure I wasn’t billed for it so I wouldn’t get any extra charges. But they asked me if I wanted to come back and pick one up. That would have mean an extra 35 miles added to my trip. So I said no thanks I’ll try and manage because I am already at the location and didn’t want to add to the cost. They said no problem call if I decide I want to pick one up.
I made the reservation by a customer service rep on the phone because you can’t reserve a U-​Haul truck online with a Chase liquid card. It sucks but anyways. So I confirmed with the rep several times that I was going to have a dolly. Because doing the move was going to be just me and my two kids. Needless to say the move took longer then anticipated.
When I mentioned this when I returned the truck no I’m sorry or anything. Just well you weren’t charged for one… Not sure if I’ll use them again.

Having moved more than my fair share of times over the course of the last, oh let’s say, four years, I can’t say it’s one of my favorite past times. In fact, I dread the thought of packing up boxes, hauling huge pieces of furniture with only the help of my hubby and maybe a friend/​family member that so generously decides to chip in. It’s just a big fat pain in the arse. But it’s a part of life so you deal with it. I’ve always used U-​Haul, different locations, and overall have had good experiences. Insurance will for sure jack up the price but it’s better to be safe than sorry when it could end up costing you a whole lot more if you get into an accident. Or do something stupid like go off-​roading with it like one of my buddies did. Moron.
I reserved a 14′ U-​Haul truck online. When we got there, we had no problem getting the truck we selected. Customer service was pleasant enough so no complaints in that arena. The truck itself was your average U-​Haul truck. Ours was clean, no rattly parts and everything worked fine. What mattered most was that all our crap fit in it. What it hauled:
–An entertainment center
–4 dressers
–2 computer tables
–a dinette set
–an ottoman
–a small sofa
–2 guitars
–household appliances and cookware
–clothing/​shoes
–a coatrack
–a bed/​box frame
–two photography umbrella lights
–other random basic necessities
–a young couple and 2 small dogs in the front seat
Now we are home sweet home. Again. For the third time. Thanks U-​Haul!

Picking up a truck during the holiday season was really easy. Nobody’s reserving them right right now.
Within twenty minutes of deciding that we were in need of a truck, we had one reserved. Compared to the other U-​Haul location I’ve used on the west end of Miramar Road, the circulation of the dropoff and pickup area is smoother. The vehicle I got wasn’t their newest but it ran fine and the cargo area light and ramp worked. No complaints.
After less than four hours I was done with my inter-​city trip and I felt bad about getting the insurance. Without that, my price tag would’ve been reduced by about half.
