I love this place Dr Reed has been amazing I highly recommend her and the staff for all of your pets needs!!!

We adopted our first pup a little over two years ago from the SPCA. They provided us a lengthy list of vets to go to for an initial visit, one of them being Turquoise Animal Hospital. At that time we were living close the clinic and they happen to have a good appointment time for us. We were very satisfied with the dedicated staff and team of Doctors. Naturally, we chose them as our vet and are extremely happy with this decision.
The office staff and Doctors are extremely friendly, caring, and loving of both of our dogs. In addition, we recently boarded our dogs there for two weeks. Our dogs were so happy, I don’t think they wanted to come home.
I highly recommend Turquoise Animal Hospital!

Absolutely love Turqoise Animal hospital! After adopting our first animal, my boyfriend and I had so many questions and our vet was more than happy to help answer any concerns we had. Our pug adores everyone here and we couldn’t be happier with the service that turquoise provides. Also, they provide free dog training every Saturday’s, which is so great considering our new little nugget is a rather rambunctious one. Thank you turquoise for making something so scary, so painless!

We were visiting family in San Diego and one of our guinea pigs got a respiratory infection. We looked on Unilocal and found Turquoise Animal Hospital to be the highest rated and closest to our location. We made an appointment and had a great experience.
Location — nice area, plenty of parking in back. The offices were very clean and orderly and there was even a cute board out front you could put your faces through to take a picture which was fun.
Staff — very welcoming and friendly, but also very professional. My husband and I immediately felt that they cared about our family/​pets and the others who were there that day. I forgot the name of the doctor we saw, but we felt his check of our guinea pig was thorough and he took time to explain what he was doing and why, ask about our pet’s behavior, etc. Medication was prescribed, what to be on the look out for, etc was all gone over.
Follow-​up — the clinic followed up to make sure our guinea pig was improving well and also sent us information int he mail after the fact — a welcome kit, etc.
It was such a great experience, and while I don’t live in the area and hope I never have need to return there while visiting family again, I can say I would highly recommend this vet practice to anyone in the area.

My poor little puppy Cooper has spent more time at the vet than I would prefer! Luckily the staff is amazing here! They are always very nice and helpful and give Cooper lots of attention. He has seen both Dr. Atkinson (Dr. A) and Dr. Reed. They are both really great! I always feel like he is in good hands with either one of them. I would definitely recommend Turquoise Animal Hospital.:)

Dr. Reed and all the doctors are top notch. They care about the pets and the owners. The place is spotless at all times. The staff knowledgeable and very friendly. I trust them with our dog. We were referred by another vet who now does emergency medicine. She said they are the best. Hours are people friendly, and parking in the back. Lots of good smells on the lawn out front for the dogs. Woof.

I love the entire staff at Turquoise Animal Hospital! Everyone is kind, helpful and knowledgeable. I have been taking my dog here since I got her. Given this is my first dog in my life, I often call with random questions. They are always so helpful and happy to talk me through something or quickly get me in to see a vet. The vets are nice, professional and very caring about my dog’s nervousness. I also have boarded my dog and used the salon services. They care about all the animals they see and I will always take my fur baby there.

Finally an awesome vet in my new hometown! I had to say goodbye to my 14-​year old lab last year, and as much as I loved her vet, I knew I could not go back to their offices. It was soon after I moved, so saying goodbye was almost my only memory of them. Too painful. So when I adopted my new puppy recently, I started looking for a new vet. I made the mistake of going to a different nearby vet first, but when she got sick and two visits still weren’t helping her, I went to Turquoise Animal Hospital. The difference was immediate.
The vet, Dr. Reed, was so kind and got down on the ground with Jo, who is shy of people at first. She spoke soothingly and didn’t rush the exam. She asked tons of questions, and Jo was at ease, licking her face quickly. We got a full treatment plan, and all the options and expenses were thoroughly explained. Jo came smiling out with a fall scarf and she is finally on the mend! This is where we will always go from now on. Also, Dr. Reed has a dog who has a blog… so if nothing else tells you how great they are, that should. :)

This vet is wonderful! I was going to a different vet in north park, and was not happy with their customer service, but the care was good. SO GLAD I found this vet during an emergency. Dr. G was so kind, explained everything, and went above & beyond. The receptionists are so sweet and attentive. Thank you turquoise animal hospital! You guys are our new favorite vet :)

I have been taking my two adults cats here for years, but yesterday they were so wonderful I have to leave a review.
My male was limping and crying yesterday morning. I checked him out and it looked like he had an abscess brewing on his backside. He had this a year ago and I knew I needed to act fast. I called them at 930, had him there by 10, got a phone call at 1130 with an estimate, and had him back home by 3pm-​abscess drained and one relieved owner later! On a full and busy Saturday, Dr Reed was able to take care of it so he didn’t have to board there on a Sunday!
At 330 my phone rings, it’s Colleen, who was so helpful all day-​to explain that his pain medicine was left behind, and she would meet me on her way home so I wouldn’t have to drive back to PB before my shift at 5. Unbelievable!
I have seen all the vets there over the last five years, and am equally impressed by all. I had considered changing vets when we moved to Mission Hills earlier this year, but now I know, I will never change. Not only do they take great care of my pets, they are so respectful of my time and money! They easily could have made extra cash by keeping my cat but instead got him home to me safely. Then, the super thoughtful follow up by Colleen and hand delivery of his pain meds?! Over the top customer service!

I love Doctor G, Eric, Colleen, and the whole staff! They have helped me on numerous occasions and make me feel comfortable each time. It’s very true, our animals are like our children and I would recommend them to anyone who wants great quality care.

Best animal Hospital in San Diego. Dr G and staff are always very helpful and nice. Marley has been going to Dr. G for years now and only have good things to say about this Hospital.

So great ! First vet office I’ve needed to come to since living in SD and it was awesome ! My poor little man Barnaby Jones took a leap off my balcony and injured his back leg. They got me in that day, Dr Reed was so sweet and compassionate towards my little fur baby and was very genuine. Luckily no broken bones, only rest TLC and good drugs ! Prices were very reasonable. Front desk is very friendly and they left a follow up voicemail a couple days later. I will be back (but hopefully not for any reasons such as this one) thanks TAH!

I’m so happy i found this place. I have a crazy rescue (who had been abused) who really does not like to be poked and prodded at, making vet visits a nightmare. The last vet i took him to tried to push too much when i know what my dog can handle. Not the case when i was here, Dr Atkinson was great and agreed it would be safest to sedate him. He had a bad ear infection so they cleaned out both ears and put medicine in that lasts two weeks so i don’t have to struggle with trying to put the meds in. It was such a relief to know my dog came out of this situation with a full check up and no added stress. Thank you so much! Bailey is a very happy camper now

Unfortunately, Dr. A. is a surgeon, and he likes doing surgery. I brought my dog here for a checkup, and mentioned that he sometimes picks up his rear legs when we’re walking. Dr. A diagnosed him with luxating patellas, with a severity of 3.5−4 out of a 0 – 4 scale. I was confused because my dog doesn’t show that he’s in pain, and he’s constantly jumping really high, escaping over gates, sprinting, and generally behaving like his knees are fine, except that he occasionally picks up one of his rear legs when we’re walking really fast.
But Dr. A didn’t take any of that into account and instead suggested I have x-​rays taken immediately and schedule the $ 2,000-per-leg surgery, because «it’s inevitable that he’ll need it». He suggested there was no way around the surgery, and didn’t give me any other suggestions for how to keep my dog healthy or comfortable.
Throughout the appointment I asked a lot of questions about my dog’s behavior and health, as I’m a first-​time dog owner and there are times I’m not sure if what my dog is doing is normal. Dr. A was extremely condescending about every question I had, giving me a smug smile and saying «we’ll take care of you». I do agree that their office staff is very caring, and I think they do a great job of sending reminders about your pet’s upcoming appointments. I really, genuinely like all of the vet techs, front desk staff, and really everyone I’ve met there aside from Dr. A. But when I ask the vet a question, I want an answer, not some blanket statement about taking care of me that makes me feel like I’m being patted on the head and told to just shhhhhh while the grownups are talking.
I did take my dog to a vet (who is not a surgeon) for a second opinion. I know that diagnoses can be different on different days, but she said that my dog’s knees were more like a 1.5−2, and reassured me that they might never get worse, and that it’s possible that my dog isn’t feeling much, if any, pain from his condition. She also gave me practical advice for how to keep his knees from getting worse – joint supplements and making sure he doesn’t gain any weight. THAT is the kind of information that Dr. A could have given me that would make me think he cares.
Again, I really like the rest of the staff at Turquoise Animal Hospital. They are funny, friendly and caring. Dr. A is just way too aggressive with his surgical consults. He doesn’t show that he cares about your pets. I’m not saying he doesn’t care – just that he doesn’t know how to show it, or to make pet-​parents feel like they’re an integral part of their pet’s care.

Turquouoise Animal Hospital is Awesome! I have used them for many years now. About 3 years ago, my Rudi kitty was really sick and I had no idea what was wrong. Anyway, Dr. G & staff were awesome & saved his life. I will be forever grateful!

Definition:
Turquoise Animal Hospital: a vet clinic that put my dog under anesthesia to undergo a root canal and fitting for a crown. After she was already under they proceeded to call me and tell me they had to cancel and reschedule the operation due to the operating doctor (who they were contracting out to) having to tend to a medical emergency. If you know anything about anesthetics then you know that it is not something to be taken lightly — you don’t put a patient under unless you are certain you are ready to operate.
My whole experience with this sham of an Animal Hospital was so bad I could honestly write a book using them as an example of how not to run a business.
Synonyms: Bait & Switch, Unprofessional, Overpriced, Insincere, Lacking, Dishonest.
Antonyms: San Marcos Veterinary Clinic, Good, Excellent, Pride, Integrity, Fair Prices, Honest.
Save your self a headache, save your animal suffering and save a huge chunk of change while your at it and go to San Marcos Veterinary Clinic. It is a drive if you live in the PB, OB, Downtown Area but well worth it. I had to take my dog here for x-​rays because of an injury she sustained while playing fetch… man oh man what a difference!!!

I have been coming to Turquoise for several years, first while living in Pacific Beach with my senior cat Snickers, and now with my senior fat cat Soleil.
Snickers had a lot of health issues in her old age, and the staff at Turquoise treated her with dignity and compassion. They were also honest about costs for her care, and during her last week of life, they were especially gracious.
With Soleil, our new senior cat, my partner and I had moved to Bankers Hill, and we decided to try a closer vet (Bodhi). After two visits, we decided we should go back to Turquoise… They are just the best.
We’ve seen all three doctors. Dr. G helped us with Snickers, and Dr. Reed was lovely with her too. Now we see Dr. Reed with Soleil, and we’ve seen Dr. Atkinson with her once. He gave her a Cat of the Day sticker, which made me so proud I’m almost embarrassed by it.
Soleil had a tooth extraction a few months ago, and they handled her follow-​up treatment and care perfectly. I can be a bit of a helicopter pet parent, but they put my worries at ease.
Thanks, Turquoise, for loving my senior cats as much as I do, and for treating them with adoration and care.

I just adopted a kitten and took him here for his first check up. They were very nice, knowledgable, prompt and answered all my questions. I will go back here next time I need a vet!
