Had a great time here meeting some friends for beer and pool last night(a Saturday, for the record). The bartender was very nice, attentive, and his beer recommendations were on point; even when it got busy it didn’t feel crowded, and we could still have a conversation even when it got louder. The thing that really sold me, though, was the poster for their trivia night: hard not to love a place who’s trivia league is called«Suck it, Trebek»!

Ahhhh Triple Crown. I really want to give you 5 stars, but there have been more than a couple occasions where I’ve gotten a really pissy bartender. Beers are cheap, especially during happy hour; and they always have a great variety. They have shuffleboard, ping pong, mini basketball, foosball, pool, and darts, as well as multiple TVs. I’m also slightly confused about their kitchen, sometimes it’s open, but usually it isn’t. I really wish they’d get rid of the kitchen altogether because when it is closed, they allow you to bring in your own food and the space that it’s taking up now could be allocated to more seating outside.

Originally came for the advertised Saturday happy hour. When we asked what pitchers, bartender recommended some. Get our tab and $ 19 for A pitcher?!? How is this a deal? Website says they serve food, so I came in hungry… Nope, no food! Go down to Rosie O’Gradys instead!

This is one of my local bars I am here a lot. I like triple crown because of the pool tables and the atmosphere. 3 pool tables, 1 ping pong table, Foosball, shuffle board, and 3 dart boards. The owners removed the second ping pong and replaced it with hotshot basketball… SUPERLAME. I’m guessing they are trying to make some extra money, ping-pong was free. The reason I gave this place 3 stars instead of 5 is because they never have good specials on pitchers. I’d I’m gonna play pool with friends for 2 hours I would like to be able to get a 12 dollar pitcher of something… It seams I’m paying about 18 a pitcher at TCP… People like pitcher specials. Also there is no hard booze here. THEYONLYSERVEBEERANDWINE.

Definitely a favorite local bar. They have all the great bar games(including ping-pong!) and a very friendly staff. They don’t have an extensive draft selection(though they ALWAYS have Rogue Hazelnut, which is delicious, and a handful of other random drafts). They have lots of bottles to choose from too. No liquor whatsoever, BTW, which will be a turn off for some people but I’m happy to stick to beer here. This is a great place to hang out. People here are always friendly and welcoming and happy to play with or against you in a friendly yet competitive game of whatever.

I’d give it a 5 star and gladly change it, but they took out ping pong inside and added an arcade. Too loud now with the damn games going. Bartenders are great though. Bring back ping pong! Just a fun local affordable bar, will still still keep coming but the new changes do suck

Good olé dive bar with the Sunday ticket. Food is decent and is what you would expect from a dive bar. Always good times here.

Not very good service. Not very friendly locals. TVs on way too loud. There are much better bars in the neighborhood.

Love this bar, tons of fun games and great beers Tall bearded bartender working night before thanksgiving is too cool for school, gave wrong pitcher prices and refused to get me a water because it was«wasting too much of his time.» Will return because I love this place, but management needs to consider their representation.

Triple crown is always a good choice when you’re looking to chill and not trying to impress anyone. The drinks are cheap and they have plenty of bar games to keep you preoccupied. The divey feel is prominent and the crowd is always interesting. Great place to hang out with a mixed group of guys and girls.

This is a fun place! Lots to do — shuffleboard, pool, darts, ping pong. Activities can be played both inside and outside. They have a good selection of beers and ciders. I didn’t try the food while I was there but it looked like they have some good options: veggie burger, chicken wings, and the like. Chill people and bar tenders. Good atmosphere. Fun games. All in all a good time!

Guests seem great, service is great, I take my boyfriend all the time… not many places have both of our favorite beers so we’re both happy every time

Myself and a few friends came in the afternoon to play some games and have a few beers. The bartender was RUDE. If I had a job at such a great concept; I would cherish that job and treat guests with respect. He seemed like it took entirely too much effort for him to walk away from his laptop and serve us. Then, when we asked him if we could play the jukebox, he told me it was turned off because of the Steelers/Ravens game(which started at 5:30). This was at 4 pm. Why even have a jukebox if we aren’t allowed to play it? We would have stayed for the game(and would have wanted to HEAR the game when it was actually ON) had it not been for the unwelcome air we received.

give me beer, games, and the flattery of being hit on by a couple of swingers and i call this a winner in my book. we came to triple crown on a lazy weekend afternoon. i love bars that have other forms of entertainment than the standard drunk people watching, and this place has it ALL: shuffleboard, table tennis, darts, pool, foosball… so much fun to be had. there are two table tennis sets(outside patio across from darts boards, and inside 2nd room where the pool tables are). thats where you found me. did i win? debatable. i get a little too crazy sometimes and the kind gentleman at the pool table had to help us out. which is why i was stoked when the outside neighboring table freed up as its more self contained. but then the darts players had to help out… and thats where the swingery came into play. i dont think ive ever been summoned via«hey pretty lady» by a female before. well hello there :’) and then the dude came over and started playing ping pong with me when my friend went to the bathroom. there was all sorts of cruising going on. so my question is – is that a regular thing at triple crown? is that where the TRIPLE comes into play? O_o They also grill food up outside on the patio… didnt partake but it smelled delicious!

My friends and I went Bar hopping in South park one night when we happen to stop by triple crown pub. This is a total dive bar with pool tables, fooseball, and inexpensive beer. I would dub this the«epitome of a neighborhood bar». It was apparent to the fact that when we were in line for beer what seemingly looked like«regulars» giving an evil eye as we tried to order. Sort of like where you get the vibe of… «Hey you’re in my territory. This is my bar». But I can’t certainly Unilocal their fan-based(However, its a shame… because of them could shame some new customers away. I think it’s a nice place to go to.) The beers are very affordable, but even though there is a growing trend in craft beers I still like my liquor. They currently, don’t have the license to have liquor yet. So I was a little disappointed. I recommend this place if you’re looking for somewhere to grab a beer and hangout.

A place to go if you want a decent selection of beer, hang out with friends, play some ping pong, darts, pool, foos ball… I really enjoy this place because they can make a snake bite. Down side to this place is the selection of food. Although they let us bring in outside food if you ask nicely.

We lived around the corner from Triple Crown for about a year and never stopped by because there always seemed to be some sort of drama happening immediately outside the bar(we frequented the Ould Sod instead.) After moving, I learned that the best time to head over to Triple Crown is either right after work or mid-day on the weekend. The bar is relatively empty, you have access to the game tables, and it’s easier to get attention from the bar tenders. Huge pro’s: they have shuffle board, pool tables, and ping pong tables. They also have had Pliny every time we’ve visited! Con’s: the rowdiness &PB type crowd. It gets pretty wild and they don’t seem to regulate that too much. It doesn’t always feel safe. This makes me want to give it a 2, but what the bar has to offer is pretty great.

I wanted to love this place because I love dive bars and especially open air dive bars. But the countertops were so sticky they actually scared me until I got the menu, and it literally had food all over it. And this was the menu the bar tender handed me!!! I asked about the brat I was so excited to see in the Unilocal photos and they no longer have it. Disappointing. If you know another good hang out place I spend a lot of time in this area and have been disappointed with Rabbit Hole and now Triple Crown.

They have games like billiard, dart, foosball, shuffleboard, and table tennis. Just like Draft Republic in UTC but I like DR more They have an outdoor patio, just like Redwing in North Park but I like RW more They are divey, just like the Aero Club in Mission Hukks but I like AC more They have cheap drinks, just like one of those in PB, but I like PB more Bye TCP!

I never make a decision to go to this bar. It’s not the kind of place you plan to go to. Whenever I end up here, it’s because there’s something going on in the area or I have to wait and want a few drinks. I have realized that I have been here quite a bit, and I have fun every time. This place is a total dive. This is a place you come to for a tall can of PBR. I have never gone into the other room with the games. I tend to stick to the bar area and hang with my friends or chat up some other patrons. I always spend more time here than I intended. It’s just that fun. I honestly can’t even say what is so fun about it. I guess it just feels like a place you want to linger and I always do. I’ll be back, though I can’t say when. It won’t be planned. The staff is super friendly. Good for any size group or a solo adventure.

Total dive bar that does what it’s supposed to — serve beer and be a chill place to hangout with friends. They have the added bonus of providing activities to go with your beers specifically a pool table, ping pong table, darts, foosball, and shuffleboard… which is what we went there for. The shuffleboard looks like it’s seen better years and might be on it’s last leg but it apparently is holding up very well and survived the serious competition that our group engaged in. Good to know that this place is there and an option whenever in the area. We went before the prime bar hopping weekend hours so it was not crowded at all when we were there but i imagine it can get pretty crowded on a weekend night. Service was not the friendliest but you don’t really expect five star treatment at a local dive bar. It was efficient service so that’s all that really matters in a place like this.

Great dive bar. I guess the«triple» part is the trifecta of bar games: ping pong, shuffle board, and pool.(And fosball, but who’s counting?) Cheap beers. Gets crowded on the weekends.

This is a good time, hanging out, drinking pictures and throwing darts kind of dive bar. There are lots of table games including pool, ping-pong, and shuffleboard to keep you busy between long draughts from your glass. Beer and wine only, but no one seems to mind. Greasy bar food is sort of a bonus, but don’t come here expecting a five-star meal. Instead, count on having a nice time with ordinary folks that don’t really care to impress as much as they do to decompress after a long day. Whenever I’m in San Diego, I try to get a couple of my old buddies together to come down to the spot. It reminds me of the good old days, although in full disclosure, I’ve never been locked in here overnight to continue drinking after the witching hour. The Night Owl??? … Different story.

TCP! TCP! Triple Crown was the local joint for my VAVI softball team, and has been a long-standing personal favorite. I have a shuffleboard problem. Like, a PROBLEM. All I wanna do is have one too many drinks and get rowdy over some table games. I don’t have high life expectations. This place is always super laid back, cheap drinks, and divey but not in the I-Need-An-Adult kind of way. It’s also on in a great neighborhood with a nice stretch of casual bars, perfect for hopping!
