Awesome place to stay… Every tourist attraction very close to motel and you can even enjoy the life in san diego downtown… Loved the service provided

I’m glad I stayed here. Had a solid experience thanks to friendly staff and very clean accommodations! As an added plus, the hotel is located near great Mexican food and is just a short Über ride away from Gaslamp.

I really have nothing to complain about this place like much of the other reviews. The room was super clean! Yeah it did have that funky hotel room smell the moment I walked in but it’s nothing that airing it out won’t fix! I got a non-​smoking, king sized bed room with a fully functioning microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, TV, blow dryer, iron/​ironing board. The Wi-​Fi was super fast so that was a plus! My reservation did come with free breakfast but I would be out too late the night before I didn’t get up on time to have it! But however, we did experience the water running very little at one point when I wanted to shower or brush my teeth. I called the front desk and it seem to have been an issue with city plumbing. Either way, at least enough water was coming out for me to take a good shower! My hotel was toward the back of the hotel and one night I was there, you can see fireworks coming from downtown which looked awesome! Everything is pretty close but I wouldn’t recommend walking to Petco Park/​Downtown at least at night anyway just because the streets seem kinda sketchy but take an Über or Lyft and you’ll be fine! I was completely satisfied with my stay at Travelodge SD and would definitely stay here again!

I mean, there aren’t any bed bugs. But, you’re in a pretty questionable part of town. The name is super misleading. It’s not near the convention center, and it’s not really downtown either — although it’s close enough I suppose. Make sure your car is locked and don’t look at the holes in the wall behind your bed and you’ll be fine. After all, you didn’t pay much to stay there.

Paid $ 275 for one night and I would have rather slept in a park. Sheets had cigarette burns, walls had scuff marks all over, the shower smelled like wet dog. By far the worst part was the roach that were strolling around the room. The hotel wouldn’t even refund us $ 150 would never book here again. Id rather pay triple the amount and just stay downtown.

Me and my bf decided to leave this place. There was a man fixing a table outside the check in door with a power tool that was causing sparks, that was probably not the safest thing to do if you have guest coming in out near that area. The room we were given had not been cleaned. My bf had to go to the front desk to get a new room. Once we got to the new room it smelled like cigarettes. There were dark stains on the bed sheets. I can deal with the outdated furniture, but not with the smells and cleanliness. The pictures they have on here for the rooms are not consistent. The room was not worth night rate. Would not stay here ever again.

I booked this room because it was the cheapest in its location — I needed a hotel walking distance to Petco park and figured it was worth a shot. When we checked in I decided to overlook the fact that the lady working the desk had a toddler running g around behind the desk slamming drawers open and shut. Who am I to judge right? Maybe its a family owned business and the babysitter called in sick? Who knows.
When we checked in we got a room on the second floor and took the elevator up. We got into the room to find used towels all over the floor and unmade bed and an empty Mnms wrapper, to top it off the room smelled like smoke. So I went downstairs to ask her if there was another room that was cleaned and ready because our room had not been visited by the cleaning person yet. She looked at me like I was crazy and started clicking away on the Pc. She found a room on the third floor that was ready so we went back into the elevator and took it to the third floor.
We get to our room which is right above the first room we got and put out stuff down just to be overwhelmed by the smell of smoke. I stood outside of the room wondering what I should do!!! I then decided to book a room across the street from petco park for not much more money and part ways. So I went downstairs after I booked the room and walked into the main office to be overwhelmed by the smell of poop. I guess by now the baby needed a diaper change. I told her why I was leaving and and she asked a few times if I’d rather not stay. I told her why I wouldn’t and asked for a receipt.

Don’t know why this place could get a 1 star! 5 star all the way! Very nice place for $ 60 we got a good deal on a 1 king size bed. If you’re looking for average excellent yet basic quality this is the place! Flat screen tv with heater & ac and the usual !! Definately would come back! Parking is a little small and i would hate to know what its like when all rooms get booked other than that everything is cool :)

Due to unfortunate circumstances, could only stay one night. That was plenty. We thought we had booked more than one night, but for some reason it didn’t happen. So the next day when we got a call around 12 asking us if we were checking out, we were a little surprised. I told her we’d figure things out, hoping to go online and book another day, but five minutes later we got another call saying that we only had ten minutes. I asked if we could please have 20, understanding that the miscommunication with booking was our fault, but she rudely said «No, this is friday, our busy day. Ten minutes.» so I hung up. Very rude. Very unfriendly. When I came down to the lobby to check out, there was one man checking in. Very busy. Also, on my floor alone there were at least two unoccupied rooms, curtains wide open. Parking, as you can see in almost every other review, is crummy and inaccessible. The walls were peeling paint, the carpet was peeling. The continental breakfast consisted of instant oatmeal, frosted flakes and raisin bran, some stale pastries and old, bruised apples. Would not recommend. Was very unsatisfied. I gave it a moderately expensive rating because you do not get what you pay for. Have found cheaper hotels with better accommodations and service in the area.

The person who works at the front desk is mean and not helpful at all. She threatened to charge us extra for having friends visit, because she would «watch us through the security cameras». The only bathroom light is a heat lamp; nonsmoking room smells like cigaret. AC doesn’t work. Can’t cancel reservation without being charged full either. Fortunately we’re only staying for one night. Stay away from this place.

I would stay here again, HOWEVER…
The parking lot is teeny-​tiny! And I don’t mean the number of parking spaces, I’m talking about the overall size of spaces and the ability to navigate them. I have a Nissan Altima, so not a huge car by any means, the car was too long for a space. I have a huge dent in the trunk of my car from being hit in the parking lot. And in case you’re planning on parking on the street, it’s pretty scarce.
The room is great for what you pay for. Fridge, wet bar, decent bed, bathroom and furniture. Remember you’re not paying for the Ritz or a boutique hotel here. It gets the job done while traveling on a budget (just make sure you have a low deductible to cover your cars new dents and dings)
The front office was friendly and social. The neighborhood isn’t awful, but it isn’t the burbs either. Homeless are visible, but they didn’t hang out on the property. It’s close to the Gaslamp, Petco Park and the convention center, but it’s not super walkable.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The room was tiny, they gave us 1 bath towel and no face towels for 4 guests in our room. The parking lot is tiny we had to squeeze into the last spot. I called the front desk they never answer. We saw a roach and other bugs in our room. The area in general is not good. Lots of drunks and homeless in the area. We will never stay here again.

You know what … I can’t really complain about Travelodge. It’s clean, you get a fridge/​coffee maker etc … It’s not the Ritz, but you’re not paying for the Ritz. It’s close enough to the city to über in pretty cheap, and the staff is pretty helpful (except for when you want more towels — they hate parting with towels).
Honestly, I’d stay here again.

Booked this hotel very spur of the moment and was pleasantly surprised. Very clean & close to everything. About 2 blocks outside of downtown and only a 6 minute drive to old town. Very easy place to stay for 1 or 2 nights on a quick vacay.

First I would like to say the only reason I am giving this hotel 4 stars is because the area is not the best. However this hotel is really nice. It looks like they just remodeled.
They have a free breakfast and it was really good.
The staff was very nice and professional and took care of all my needs. ie I forgot my shaving cream and they had one for me.
I would recommend this place to anyone!!!

You get what you pay for. Location not ideal. There are improvements must be addressed 1) must have a working key to the designated room 2) no exhaust in the bathroom and the lighting makes the bathroom too hot 3) limited parking
I will not book in this motel again for those reasons, however the staff are friendly and patient.

This place had very poor service. Rauhl the owner was rude and inconsiderate. I will not ever get a room here again. The rooms were nice but the customer service and owner was very rude and stubborn. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Please do yourself a favor and find another hotel.

Surprisingly nice. For a boys trip. Not exactly meant for those who are looking for a romantic getaway. Around a mile or two from the hubub of the Gaslamp, right by the highway. Sufficient parking and front desk clerk was nice. Room was standard, clean and not too gawdy. No bugs or insects that we saw. No dirt or mildew or anything like that. Everything worked in the room. Overall, very nice spot and great price. It’s no Four Seasons, but, that’s not what you’re paying for.
