Tippy Toes Nails and Spa

Always great nails when you come here and the price is reasonable! I get shellac nails on my hands, for me it’s always great — no cracking or chipping. Sarah is the best! I also get the spa pedicures, always great service and a great pedi! The chairs are comfortable and the salon is always clean. It can get busy because the service is great so I suggest calling ahead to make an appointment.

Found this gem of a nail salon here on Unilocal when I moved to Hillcrest this summer. I’ve had nothing but great experiences.
Sarah does my gel manicures and is amazing! All I do is show her a picture of what I want, and she makes it look even better than the picture. She’s also super sweet and accommodating. Highly recommend!

I always regret not getting my nails done here because I have to come here to fix the damage! They are amazing! Sometimes walking in can be hectic because they tend to be busy and I’ve waited longer than I would like to, but they always do everything to get me in and work their magic.

This is best nail salon. They are always super busy so make an appointment. Some of the girls take there time, and some seem rushed. They always come out amazing though! I never used to get gel because I wasn’t happy with the way it looked, felt or lasted. The girls at tippy toes have changed my nails!!! Busy or in a hurry– no one is as good as the team at tippy!

I’ve had my nails done by Andy, Tracey, and Jenny and they were great each time! Jenny did my nails today with heart tips for valentines — she free handed it and they came out super cute! Minus one star because it’s a bit pricey but obviously worth it if I keep coming back :)

Went in for my first time a week ago, I always struggled finding a place that could do my nails the way I like them but I was surprised with they’re work. They did such a good job, I’m in love with my nails.
I also got a pedicure, such good work. Definitely going back. The price is totally worth the job they do.

Jenny is always amazing! I cant imagine going a anywhere else for my nails. All the nail techs are really nice and they do great nail art things!

Got a full gel set of nails yesterday and I couldn’t be happier with them. JENNY did an amazing job. She’s very sweet and made sure I was comfortable and happy with my nails every step of the way. I’m new to the area and was struggling to find a nail salon but I’ve been coming here since August and I’ve had a good experience every time. Definitely recommend Jenny!

I walked in today and was immediately seated down to get my full set. My nail artist Jenny was super sweet and did an amazing job on my nails. Usually I never write reviews because the service I get is usually just average. But Jenny gave me great service, took her time on shaping my nails, and worked super fast and precise. Will come again :)

I love this place! Always quick, efficient with a huge selection of colors. Everyone is friendly and more than qualified. I’ve been coming here for over 2 years and never had a bad experience. They also guarantee gel for 2 weeks.

Beyond Pleased with my Nail Artist Andy!!! I’m so happy I landed in his seat one day as I started going to this place! And have never looked back! His talent is by far the best in the biz! Book your appointment and if you expect great service then be patient and you will more than see the work and time he puts into your nails! Plus I enjoy his company every time I’m in his chair!

I have had acrylic nails for years and have become very picky over time. I am that customer who really examines thier nails and look at the details of application, shape, longevity, and design. Andy is the only nail artist I have worked with that consistently exceeds my expectations. His work is flawless and he is warm, professional, and personable. I cannot recommend him highly enough!
I routinely come in for pedicures and waxing and the technicians that perform these services are always responsive and do high quality work. The shop is very clean, welcoming and almost always bustling. Make an appointment if at all possible and be generous with the time you allot, you might get seen a little after your time but once in the chair the focus is completely on you and as much time is needed to complete your work competently will be taken.

For the price you are paying this is definitely a 5 star thru and thru

Christine had so much patience while I changed my mind 5 times, trying to figure out the right holiday nail look. She listened to everything I wanted in a nice set of acrylic nails! $ 50 for full set removal, a whole new acrylic nail set and gel polish. Pricey but worth it!

I hadn’t had my nails done by someone else in a while and I was looking to pamper my boyfriend and myself one weekend. Upon a recommendation from a friend, we made an appointment at Tippy Toes.
This was almost 4 weeks ago, and the polish from my pedicure has stayed almost fully intact this entire time! I’m impressed!
It was my boyfriend’s first time having a professional mani/​pedi and his comment was «That was great, I see why you ladies do this regularly!» He really enjoyed the massage part of it.
We had an appointment, but still had to wait 5 or 10 minutes. It was a busy weekend afternoon, so I get it, no biggy. That’s the only negative thing I can say.
I think the pedi was $ 22. A great value! I’ll definitely be back. Hopefully I get Sandy again!

I love the name, I love the location, I love the staff and I love the service!
Tippy Toes has become my go-​to spot for manicures and pedicures. They have tons of chairs so they can accommodate appointments and walk-​ins and they have some of the best nail artists in town! It doesn’t really matter who you get, they’re all good and I’ve had about 4 or 5 different ones at this point and have been pleased with all of them! So far though, I have to say, my favorite is Theo. He is very creative and does some of my favorite designs!
I also love how sanitary this place is. They use those plastic covers for the water bins you put your feet in for pedicures and they unwrap all of their sterilized equipment right in front of you. Speaking of the pedicure chairs, they’re some of the best in town! The massage function is awesome and they are also very comfortable to sit in when you aren’t using the massage. You can tell because there is usually someone asleep in one!
It’s no secret that this place is one of the best nail salons in town — it’s consistently busy! If you have to wait a bit, do it! It’ll be worth it, I promise!

So, the only downside about this place was the 30 minutes wait I experienced even though I had an appointment. Almost no matter where you go, doesn’t matter if you make appointments or not, you’re bound to wait some amount of time.
The more and more I venture in San Diego, the more I find myself loving a new nail place after I thought I had already found «the one». I think my destination has arrived here at Tippy Toes Nails & Spa.
I love the set up they have. I love that they don’t have tables because I think it makes it feel more personable and cozy with the technician you’re working with. The manicure chairs are soooo comfy. I can’t comment on the pedicure chairs because I didn’t get one, but I’m sure they’re equally awesome.
I found Andy on Instagram and specifically called to make an appointment with him because his work looks so good!
I’ve gone to many nail salons from the Central Valley all the way down here to San Diego and I can honestly say I haven’t had someone do my nails who worked as diligently, seemed to care as much about his work, or the happiness of his client as Andy. I asked for a round/​oval shape that were as short as they could be without losing the desired shape. I showed Andy pictures of some nails I had seen on his Instagram and he gave me the exact shape I wanted! Last time I asked for something like this, the sides of the nails bowed out and they just didn’t look that cute. At the time I didn’t really understand what I was looking for or the shape I wanted, so I wasn’t too particular when my nails were being formed.
Another thing that I love is that everyone in here is incredibly kind. You don’t hear a lot of conversation in Vietnamese between the girls and guys working there, which I think everyone can relate to. When you do hear them talking to each other in Vietnamese, it’s almost never when they’re with a client. I don’t understand Vietnamese, but I think every girl/​guy who has stepped into a salon has experienced feeling like the nail techs were talking shit about the clients. I never once felt like that here.
Andy was incredibly nice and talkative. I felt like I got to know about his family, where he’s from, where he’s traveled, etc. I told him I’d be back before the end of October for him to work on my hands again. I love Tippy Toes!

I came in for a fill but Theo noticed damage underneath my nails so he removed them completely for no additional charge, replaced them, and charged me the fill price! How nice is that? Full gel set =$ 45, fill gel set = $ 35.

Love this place… Although I rarely make it here the place is clean, great color selection both gel and regular and the massage chair is what I absolutely love!!!
The one great thing about this nail shop is they use the bags over the tubs! That is suppose to be standard at all nail shops but they don’t use them everywhere!
My first time here was great! Sarah is a great nail artist and she definitely delivered with what I wanted!
Today I have Katie and she’s very sweet! She’s in high school and making money for school! She is new to this nail spa game and they had to give her me with the big ol’ feet and legs!!! Poor girl!!!
What I don’t understand is why the venue doesn’t let you tip on your card… I really didn’t understand that. Plus not everyone carries cash, but I should have been smarter… Good thing they have an ATM.
If you’re in the hillcrest area give them a shot!!! Don’t forget your cash for tips!!!

I am so confused as to how this place has five solid stars??? I’ve been here twice and both times were below average pedis. The only reason I came back the second time was because of the solid five-​star rating.
The main cons (in order of importance to me):
–Worst massage ever. It was 3 – 5 mins per side of lightly rubbing oil and lotion into my legs. Not a single firm stroke. It was terrible.
–My lady did not speak a word of English. Communication was beyond non-​existent.
–It took 90 mins and was not relaxing in the slightest. She was just super slow… Plus she smudged my big toe when putting on my shoes and had to re-​do it. This was after 80 mins and I only fed the meter for 70.
–Prices are higher than other places that are much better. I paid $ 37 for the ultimate pedi, when I could have had comparable pedis at 142 Beauty or Beauty Lounge for $ 35. While $ 2 isn’t much, it’s the principle that it was way worse than those places…
–You can’t tip on cards… I know 142 Beauty and Professonails both allow card tipping.
Also, of their Unilocal reviews, there’s only one Elite member review. All the people that have made five-​star reviews have reviewed very few other places. Plus, they all get ridiculous nail designs. I really doubt there are this many people in Hillcrest who get studded nails every time. I smell foul play. One other low review says they were offered $ 5 off for a good review?! Wow!
