History

Established in 2007.

The Tiny Steps Dance Co. was founded by Lana Patel in 2007. After working in the fitness industry for many years and having children, Ms. Lana was drawn back to her love for teaching dance, when friends asked her to teach their children to dance. The company started with just one small dance class and has grown from there. The company’s focus has always been to accommodate the needs of families. Classes and costumes are affordable. The students get to learn technique and have fun without the pressure and demands of a big dance company. Recitals and dress rehearsals are short and easy for busy families too.

Business Owner

Ms. Lana grew up in a family of dancers, and has been dancing for as long as she can remember. She has been teaching dance since the age of 16. She owned/​operated her first dance academy in Northwest Ohio, where she taught Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Creative Movement. She has directed several children’s dance productions including «Wizard of Oz, «Little Mermaid», «Peter Pan», and «Hansel & Gretal». She is Adult/​Child CPR and AED Certified and resides in Rancho Penasquitos with her husband and 2 sons. In recent years, she has been teaching Pre-​ballet/​Creative Movement, Tap, and Hip Hop for local Elementary schools, preschools, and playgroups for the past 6 years in San Diego. She founded the Tiny Steps Dance Co. in 2007 and now teaches in 2 locations in Rancho Penasquitos, including the Rose-​Ritchie Academy (newly relocated behind St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church) and at Sunset Hills Elementary.
