What makes us different?

Minimally invasive dentistry. I incorporate the use of composite resins to restore teeth which would be crowned in most offices. If you have ever had a crown then you know that it requires your tooth to be cut down substantially in order for a crown to be fabricated to restore the tooth back to its natural size and shape. Minimally invasive dentistry allows us to conserve your healthy tooth structure so you can maintain your natural teeth for your entire life.

History

Established in 2002.

Dr. Thomas has been in private practice since 1992, and has practiced at 625 Broadway in Downtown San Diego since 2002 giving him the ability to monitor his work over time to see that the treatment he provides lasts a long time for his patients. His goal is to get your mouth healthy and then monitor your oral health with periodic examinations and cleanings. «The best thing I can do for my patients is prevention, meaning that if we can prevent a dental problem from ever getting started then that is better than any kind of repair work we might perform.»

Dr. Thomas graduated from Texas A&M in College Station Texas, class of 1989 and attended Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas, class of 1992. Dr. Thomas has been in private practice in the San Diego area since 1992. Prior to moving downtown Dr. Thomas practiced in Oceanside, CA from 1994 through 2001. Since graduation Dr. Thomas has done extensive postgraduate training in Implants, cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign, and endodontics.

In his spare time Dr. Thomas enjoys spending time with his family, surfing, hiking in the Sierras, snowboarding, and home improvement projects.

Dr. Thomas was my hero a couple months ago. I was visiting with my family from Phoenix, AZ. when biting into a piece of pizza one of my veneers fell out! I called several dentist offices the next morning and was told I’d be hard pressed to find a dentist in San Diego open on a Friday. As luck would have it I reached Dr. Thomas and his receptionist was lovely! Needless to say they had me in a chair, tooth cleaned and professionally put back, in less then an hour!!! My family and I were off to Lego Land and finished our trip without a worry. Thank you Dr. Thomas, like I said you were my hero that day.

Dr. Thomas is a Godsend. Another dentist had misdiagnosed my tooth pain and was recommending radical and expensive treatment. Dr. Thomas took a careful, thoughtful approach to diagnosing the source of my tooth pain and through gentle procedure, was able to identify a minor situation and treat it in a conservative and effective way. He is a warm, very communicative and easy going person who makes going to the dentist a really positive experience.

I never would have thought that I would rate a trip to the dentist with five stars but I have to tell you that Dr. Thomas and his staff are great. I broke a tooth while on a trip to San Diego and they gave me an appointment that day. Dr. Thomas has a great personality and «chair-​side manner». He examined my tooth and explained the options very thoughtfully. Then he did a terrific job repairing my tooth. He save a long weekend in San Diego and I have not had a bit of trouble with the tooth in the weeks since he did the repair. I wish I could take him home with me but since I can’t, I’ll keep his contact information in my phone for future trips to San Diego just in case.

It is hard to say that going to the dentist can ever be a five star experience, but I have to hand it to Dr. Thomas and his staff for making the experience as comfortable as possible. The office is stacked with cutting edge tools. I especially liked the modern X-​ray machine that does not require any film in the mouth. The process was quick and easy. Dr. Thomas explained everything that was going on and put me at ease. There was no «upsell» for un-​needed services. His focus is simply on oral health. I initially came to him for a chipped tooth, but subsequent visits for cleaning were equally satisfying.

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at the dentist. Everyone was very nice, friendly and helpful. Dr. Thomas did a great job and took the time to explain what he was doing for me and why. I only had a cleaning but I would trust him for other services too.

Walked in this place and was put off by the office immediately. Kinda looks like a grandma’s house even though it’s on the 10th floor of a building in downtown. The staff was extremely nice, but the whole atmosphere made me feel like I was in the 70’s. Everything from the chair I was in, to the worn wood cabinets were just off putting and seemed very unprofessional. I ended up getting out of the chair and leaving with only having them take an X-​ray. They charged me $ 21 and billed my insurance for $ 80, and I just talked and had an X-​ray? The dentist I ended up going to a week later took X-​rays of my whole mouth AND gave me a deep teeth cleaning and said insurance covered everything. Notice how they don’t have any photos of the office?!
Don’t bother going here if you want state-​of-​the-​art equipment or professionalism.

Ok… I have had my fair share of horrible dentist. Dr. Thomas is definitely not one of them. After searching for a good dentist in the area that took Delta Dental I decided to give Dr. Thomas a try.
The experience was amazing. I came in and was greeted by Dr. Thomas himself and was set at ease. Whole experience was a dream, for having not been at a dentist in awhile. He cleaned my teeth and I my teeth never felt so good.
Also, he wants to do what is best for you and what you can afford. We talked about other cosmetic changes that could be made. It was not pushy, just allowed me to get informed about procedures that I may want to look into in the hopefully near future.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW DENTIST PLEASE give Dr. Thomas a try! You wont regret it and your teeth will feel soooo clean!

Dr. Thomas is like finding a needle in a haystack. He really cares about his patient and willing to make arragements if you don’t have all the money up front. You just don’t find people in general with his devotion to his craft. I have been going to him for the past eight years and never had an issue. Another plus I have 2 kids and he works extremely good with kids. They lay down in the chair he puts on cartoons on the tv 40 min later their done and then they get a toy awesome.

Dr. Thomas is the most ethical, kind and efficient dentist I know. He cares about the patient more than he cares about increasing his bank account. He is a rare find. I live in north county and lead a very busy life but find it worthwhile to drive to downtown SD to receive Dr. Thomas’s expert care.

Awesome! Love going here (as much as anyone could love going to the dentist). It’s just Dr. T, a hygentist and an office manager, so you get one-​on-​one attention. I am usually the only patient there.

I totally agree with the earlier posting. My only complaint is that he is so on the ball, I never have time to sit and read magazines!
He is great, his assistant and receptionist are great and the cleanings are not too horrible. I have never had a problem making an appointment, never had any problems once I am there, and NEVER had any insurance hassles.
