My mom loves her cut and color from Scott! She is extremely picky and is completely satisfied. She also adores his assistant. They compliment each other very nicely.

I saw Sunnie for a body perm on April 8^th. She used a product that smelled horrific and now, two months later continues to smell like rancid fish oil! I have hair that is completely straight and without any natural body so i’ve had many many perms in my lifetime and i know that there can be a distinctly unpleasant smell associated with them. But it usually goes away after it has been washed a few times. This smell, despite shampoo, conditioner, whatever type of product is put on it, continues to smell totally awful. I spoke with Sunnie and she did suggest that i come in to the salon and have a something else put on my hair, but I’ve already been to a hair supply store and they affirm that nothing will remove this horrific smell, other than time… six months at the minimum. I also spoke with the owner who was kind enough to suggest i come in to the salon and have another product put on the hair, but i know that nothing will remove the nasty rancid fish oil smell.
i would not recommend Sunnie as she should have never used anything that smelled this terrible on anyone’s hair. To add insult to this process the permanent flattened out after 4 weeks.

Leslie Gail is THE BEST! I have been going to her for years and now that I live in Virginia I schedule my visits back to San Diego around my hair cut needs just so she can cut my hair. I refuse to let anyone else touch it. I have had numerous friends go to her over the years for cuts and color and everyone has lover her and her work. She pays attention to detail, her cuts are amazing and her coloring outstanding! But the best part about Leslie is she is so sweet! I always enjoy my visits with her, she remembers what’s going on in my life and always has a smile and a hug for me. You will not regret letting her do your hair! She is honestly the best stylist I have ever had!!!

I don’t recommend one of the hair designers in this studio. The place is nice and the location, but one of the hair designer name SUNNIE is not professional and bad customer service. I don’t recommend this hair designer!

I am super happy with Thomas Joseph Studio! It is filled with talented and friendly people. I saw Thomas last week and he studied my hair and my face and came up with a plan for me. The haircut was perfect and he is about the nicest guy you will ever meet. I saw Kristie today and she did a Brazilian blowout and she did an amazing job. I can’t believe my hair looks so awesome! You should go to this place for sure, you will be stoked.

AWESOME SALON! Coveniently located off 163 exit Balboa. I get my hair done by Erica Factuar and she is so talented!!! I’ve recommended her to 3 of my friends already and are now her regular clients. She’s fantastic and has great prices. I recommend her whole-​heartedly.

I recently moved to SD and needed a hairdresser. I already had the perfect mixture of color I loved and I wanted to find a salon who used the same products. I Unilocaled places near me who carried Goldwell products. I found Thomas-​Joseph Salon, called and asked for someone who has worked with red before, the receptionist, although otherwise useless, recommended Kelsie. Kelsie is the best, she makes every visit worth enjoying!

I have been going to Thomas for many years and he is the best there is! My hair always looks amazing after it’s cut and colored — smooth and healthy with all of the grays covered up. It’s a great place to go!

Thomas Joseph Studio has the best stylists ever! My friend and I have been going to Erica for over a year now and we not only get wonderful haircuts and amazing color, but we feel like we’ve had an evening out! The salon offers a friendly atmosphere where quality is first and foremost, and Erica is one of the best!

Kelsie just did my hair today and I love it. I change it from a blonde to brown & red and it looks gorgeous. I’ll definitely go back to the studio and have her taking care of my hair. Kelsie is professional and took the time to make sure will all look great. I recommend Kelsie to everyone !!!

I highly recommend going to Tara white. I have never been so satisfied with a haircut. I went in with a picture I wanted to re-​create with my own hair. I was very worried because it’s a complex cut. She make made it look exactly like the photo, actually, even better than the photo!!! She is very sweet and down to earth! Thank you Tara!

Peter Campo is the best stylist! If you’re smart, book him regularly. As he’s nearing retirement he’s working less days.
I was originally from the NY area so was used to excellent stylists. Very disappointed when I moved to San Diego – never saw a «cut and go» type place and was lured by the cheap prices. Big mistake. So I avoided salons and cut/​color/​ruined my own hair for the next 10 yrs! (and yes, it looked it!)
I first found Thomas Joseph Studio from an old article in San Diego Magazine featuring Peter Campo. Decided to give him a try. They did not overstate his experience and talent. A true artist.
I’ve been with him now for at least 8 or 9 years. He never pushes product, he’s saved me multiple times from making bad hair decisions, and I’ve learned to trust his judgment for color, cut and style. Yup – this place is pricey, but worth it.
I’ve also been impressed with the core staff of stylists that have been there for years. The assistants come and go (apparently a great place to be trained!), but the stylists stay. This is a great place, and the stylists stay current with trends/​treatments. Can’t recommend them enough.

This is my second time going to Sunnie for blonde highlights and cut and she did a beautiful job! My hair feels and looks so much healthier! She pays a lot of attention to detail and gives you what you ask for. She’s nice and friendly but more importantl she does a great job on your hair!

I’ve been wanting to chop my hair off for the longest time and finally got the guts to do it during my spring break here in San Diego.
Sunnie did a WONDERFUL job! I showed her a picture of Beyonce’s cute short a-​line bob and she did exactly what I wanted. She took her time and made sure it was perfect.
I love my new hair and recommend Sunnie to everyone! :)

Got my first extension from Sunnie today! Love the results! She also gave me a face framing layers and everything looks natural and beautiful. I was looking for a new salon and I think I found one at last!

My new favorite hair spot! The front desk girls are lovely and my boy Scott is very friendly and so talented! I look forward to going back to see him so he can hook up my hair. My daughter is also a fan and loves him to death. Our conversations keep me entertained from start to finish and I leave feeling like a diva, not a train wreck!
