A week or so later, it still is easy to manage and style or just go after a shower!!! Awesome spot!

Before I walked in today, I had no idea what I’ve been missing all these years.
I love experimenting in beauty treatments and saw a groupon for a keratin treatment here at the smooth bar for $ 99. I bought it expecting to try it out, but when I came in Angelica let me know keratin treatments are better for people with thin hair… And that a Brazilian blowout was more my style. I have super thick hair and always get charged extra for every treatment I’ve ever had everywhere — not here!
She offered the Brazilian blowout to me for the same price as the keratin and after 2 hours of work WOW!!! My hair looks incredible! It looks like hair product ad model hair!!! I can’t believe how glossy and beautiful my hair looks! I feel like I’ve unlocked a new level of beauty! My thick hair somehow feels ten pounds lighter, too! The outcome is better than Aveda gloss treatments I’ve done, too!
Thanks Angelica! If you’ve been considering a Brazilian blowout, TRY them! They really are worth the cost! My hair looks so good!
The salon itself is beautiful too– gloss black floors, white walls, slab concrete table surfaces for hot tools. The shampoo chairs are leather recliners! Can you say heavenly? The sweet staff made sure I had a continuous supply of new magazines, fresh pastries and also offered mimosas, wine, water and tea (my choice– black tea w/​orange rind).

[I have a stylist in Los Angeles, but she no longer does smoothing treatments so I have to get my Brazilian/​Keratin treatment done before I drive up to see her. I looked up reviews on salons in my area (Hillcrest, University Heights, North Park, Downtown, etc.) and The Smoothbar popped up.]
I liked that they offer many different treatment options and will do a consultation with you (during your appointment) to determine the best fit.
I had a hard time making an appointment (had to call the Ritual Salon next door to book), but once I arrived I had a fantastic experience. The stylist was friendly and did a wonderful job on my BB.
They also apologized profusely for the trouble booking the appointment and sent me home with a free product to try.

I had such a great experience here. Jackie did such an amazing job with my brazilian blowout. She really took her time to make sure I was happy with my results. The salon itself is very clean and modern and all the staff were extremely nice. I’m excited to go back in 12 weeks for my second brazilian blowout.

absolutely amazing salon! Angelica did a great job she took her time did not rush payed attention to my concerns she was very friendly and nice! Rod I absolutely love such a pleasure talking with him! it has been quite sometime since the last time I was there and he remembered me that’s the type of person you want working and or running your salon! Such great service all around unlike the other salon where all that matters is how many people you can rich through!

I had visited the salon that is connected to The Smoothbar for a gel manicure and had a great experience so I decided to check out the website for this side of the salon when it came time for me to get a Brazilian Blowout. I have very frizzy, dry and curly hair and have had a couple treatments before but its been a while. I had my appt with Jackie and she immediately started my appt with a consultation about the treatment (even though Ive had it before elsewhere). Being in the beauty industry I appreciate the time taken for a good consultation. Jackie took the time to talk to me about my service, get to know me throughout the appt, and was very awesome to talk to. My hair was a complete 180 when I left and was so soft and NO frizz. The appt was only 1.5 hours and it flew by with our great conversation! I booked my next appt and can’t wait to come back here and continue to be frizz freeeeeee!

I’ve been wanting to get a brazilian blowout for awhile now and with this crazy muggy San Diego weather I decided it was time. So glad I made the decision to go for it. The place itself is clean and comfortable. My station had a variety of magazines, a mini Ipad and phone plug to charge phone. I was offered a beverage upon arrival, water, wine, juice. The gal who did my hair was knowledgable and spent the time to discuss all the treatments and figure out exactly what I was looking for. The whole process took just over an hour and now my hair is frizzless and fabulous for only $ 99. I think I am hooked and I will be back for sure!

A little late in posting my review. Went through so many reviews trying to find a five-​star place for keratin treatments and came across The Smoothbar. I recently moved back to SD and the ocean humidity is not kind to my naturally curly, color treated hair, so I needed help STAT!
The salon is clean, modern décor and the staff are lovely. Zandra spoke to me about my expectations and made a recommendation. After a couple washes, blow dry and treatment (total time under 1 hour (I have fine hair) the results are PERFECTION! I will most definitely be back.
There is a site call MyTime appointments that books appointments for the salon. DO NOT USE this site. Rod was telling me the owner didn’t even know how they were listed or how the whole schedule to payment system worked, and the site pre-​charges you at the time of your appointment, which I didn’t know. Also, the prices on this site are incorrect. My treatment was $ 99 and was charged $ 139. Again, DO NOT USE!

Great experience! The girl who treated my hair started my appointment on time, and explained the different type of services that they offer. She listened to what I wanted, which was just a quick and basic brazilian blowout, and made a recommendation. She worked efficiently, and I was happy with the results! Also, she gave me a glass of wine!
The only recommendation I can make is to close the door in the shampoo room. It’s this peaceful room that is set up to be relaxing, and it really does feel that way… until you notice that the door the back cleaning room is right there and open, and stylists are shuffling about and chatting. It really takes away from the experience. Everything else was great and I’ll be back.

Used a groupon for a keratin treatment. BEST THING EVER!!! The staff is soooo nice! Jackie was sweet, a great listener and asked what I was looking for in my hair and MADE IT HAPPEN! I WILL be back for a repeat performance!!!

Today was my second time getting a Brazilian Blowout by the wonderful Zandra. Absolutely love this place! My hair looks & feels AMAZING.

I am so happy with my hair! I saw Sandra for the Original Brazilian Blowout, and she did a great job, for about half what I’ve paid at other salons for the same treatment. I had beautiful highlights done immediately prior at the Ritual Salon, which is next door and shares the shampoo area. Both salons are modern and sleek, yet still have a warm and comfortable feel. When you call, you can book appointments at both salons, which makes it easy to coordinate treatments and processes. The receptionist is welcoming and checked in with me periodically (I was there for a few hours) to see if I needed anything. As a bonus, there’s a parking lot in front. Perfect!

Love The Smoothbar! I have very thick and difficult hair to manage, but I always walk out of there feeling beautiful! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and I recommend them to everyone I know! Courtney did a great job and I will not go anywhere else.

Great service. I drive from Riverside every couple of months for my blowout. I tried other places but none have compared to The Smoothbar. Well worth the trip. I referred family and friends and all have had excellent service. My thick course curly hair has finally been tamed. Thank you!

I have been to a number of different salons to get my hair professionally straightened… wish I had found the Smoothbar sooner! Courtney is a pro and will lay out all the options on the table, and will help you decide on the right product for your hair. The salon has a contemporary feel plus a parking lot right out front! This is my go-​to place to get my hair feeling smooth.

I’m a fan already and I haven’t even been yet. Rod/​Ron (sorry…difficult to decipher over the phone) is extremely professional. I can’t wait to go for my appointment!

So happy with the Brazilian blowout at Smooth Bar. Courtney made sure I felt comfortable with my choice (there are several options). She is super nice and everyone there was patient with answering questions. One thing that (pleasantly) surprised me is that there was no bad odor to the treatment (which was something that I heard before). If you are afraid it will be fumey that is not an issue. There is a big vent and the air inside was totally fine. My hair feels super silky and smells nice. I have very frizzy hair. I was surprised at the speed Courtney was able to get my hair from frizzy to shiny. Would highly recommend this place if you have never taken the leap to try this treatment. The price and right and the service is friendly and fast.

This place is FABULOUS! One of the best Brazilian blow outs I’ve ever gotten. I was enthusiastically recommended to Courtney by my mom, sister and aunt. She takes her time and makes sure every strand is perfect. Thank you smooth bar!

Just got my Brazilian blowout done and it looks great! They got me in right away and made sure I was taken care of (coffee water ect) always enjoy going here! Courtney was great I would highly recommend her!

Edith is the only hairstylist I would trust to give me a Brazilian Blowout she is really good at what she does. She made my hair look so good and feel silky smooth!
