History
Established in 2001.
The community came together to form a 501c3 public benefit non-profit to raise awareness about the historic San Diego River after a 2000 sewer spill of 34 million gallons.
This effort soon grew into working toward the creation of a river-long park system to enhance the communities along this waterway, to increase stewardship of this important natural resource, and to promote trails and other recreational opportunities.
The organization has grown to more than 3000 members since its founding and continues to strive to work with interested parties to enhance the quality of life along the river.
