I am Robert Burns, an attorney and counselor at law with more than 35 years of experience. As «a people’s lawyer,» I am dedicated to making a difference in my clients’ lives. I have the skill and know-​how to help you with a variety of legal issues related to family law, probate law, and personal injury claims. I am a seasoned attorney who understands what is at stake both financially and emotionally. I am fully prepared to fight for you in court, but also will make every effort to work toward resolution outside of court when possible to maximize your achievements and minimize your expense. History

Established in 1980.

Robert Burns was licensed by the State of California to practice law in 1980. He was admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California in 1980, admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1984, and admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1986.

He has thereafter maintained a private law practice based in the community of Ocean Beach within the City of San Diego at its current location of 4877 Voltaire Street since 1982.

His law practice has been a general one with emphasis on family law, probate litigation, personal injury claims, and Court-​appointed criminal matters but with experience in business, entertainment, intellectual property, environmental, tenancy, and land-​use matters.

Robert Burns has long lived in, worked in, and enjoyed the community of Ocean Beach. Besides being a lawyer, he has raised two wonderful daughters, been active in grass roots politics, published a book of poetry, and become accomplished on the great highland bagpipe.
