Not too expensive on he key prices and the service was very fast on the spot! Seems like they specialize in a lot more of locksmith duties rather than just making keys. Can’t go wrong with reliability!

So one day my key decided to break on my lexus. I purchased another key and got it cut here no problem fast and easy. Works like a charm!

This is a Great little key shop here in the Normal Heights neighborhood. I have a Toyota 4runner that I thought the tumblers in my door were starting to fail. I took my truck to The Key Crew and they quickly diagnosed that it wasn’t the tumblers in my door lock, but my master key that was getting old and worn out. He cut a new blank key to test on my 4runner and confirmed that it was the problem. Told me that he had the programable type of key that I needed, cut the new master key, programed it, and tested it, to verify everything. It was great experience, the customer service was excellent. I would recommend The Key Crew to anyone who needs new keys cut.

This company lived up to the high reviews on Unilocal!that led me there. Convenient location with easy parking, professional and friendly. They suggested I use a discount I didn’t know I was entitled to. Thank you to previous reviewers that also took the time to post.

Sunday Midnight, just gave them a call asking how much to make a replacement key, the dude just hung up on me and said call back tmrw. It sounded like he was sleeping, so I guess whatever.
I ended up going back today, it’s so close and it was raining so I didn’t exactly shop around but I did get an idea how much some steps of the process cost. I ended up buying my own key and programming the locks myself and negotiated the cutting process down so I didn’t have to go to Home Depot which does it substantially cheaper (apparently so does North Park Hardware FYI) so it turned out to be a pretty good deal.
But they charge $ 150 if you do it all there and after doing a little research it seems like that’s more expensive or right around the same price as the dealership (depending on the dealer but I’m guessing if you called around SD you’d find cheaper). So my review is mixed but if you need a key in a jam it’s not a bad spot.
The ladies who work there during the day are both super nice and very friendly, they definitely brought the review from a 2 – 3 to a 4-​star.

Awesome customer service. Although I didn’t end up needing their service (my landlord finally answered the phone). They were very understanding when I had to cancel my appointment.

Locked the *$%&! keys in my wifes car. Had to go pick her up. UGH! Called The Key Crew at 10:20AM. They said they would have a tech here in 45 min. HE WAS ON TIME!
No joke, he had that door open in about 20 seconds. I paid with a credit card and I left. Picked up my wife and only had to spend $ 50 for this man to save me from a ration of shit from the wife if I wasnt able to pick her up.

After turning my apartment upside down, meticulously sifting through trash bins, drawers, nooks and crannies of every square inch that existed between work and home, and then repeating the process the next day, I finally came to acceptance with having lost my car keys. Turns out it wasn’t just my car key, it was the ONLY one that I had that was capable of starting my car. I called the Toyota dealership I bought the car used from, and they said they would do it, but the car would physically have to be there – meaning I would have to have it towed. Because of a work event that night (and admittedly probably because I was still a bit in denial), I had no choice but to deal with the car situation on a Sunday. I scoured Unilocal for the best possible reviews that would lead me to the solution of something I knew almost absolutely nothing about. I called two other locksmiths, one of whom had nasty things to say about the dealership and even other locksmiths – yet, did not offer the service himself. Finally, I called the Key Crew and wearily explained my dilemma. They were direct, upfront, told me how the process would go if I scheduled service, gave me a quote, and agreed to do it that day! After having dealt with a hoard of information (some misinformation) about my car fiasco since the weekend began, The Key Crew’s very simple solution seemed almost too good to be true. After reconfirming the scheduling with them, they said someone would be at my place in 60 – 90 minutes. It didn’t seem like even an hour before their tech, Christopher, arrived at my apartment. I asked him what he needed and after a quick lookover the car, he suggested asking my neighbor to move their car a little so that he could access under the dashboard. Despite the estimates I previously received from other sources of how long the job would take (the most being 4 – 5 hours), Christopher was there for maybe a total of 2.5 hours at the most. When he was done, he started my car with the key, told me there was a 90 day warranty, we paid him (the fee and in giant grapes because it was warm out), he issued a receipt, and went on his way. Have had no problems starting the car since yesterday. So far, so good!
I highly recommend The Key Crew for any one with auto reflashing needs. They are reliable, and very knowledgeable of their trade. They back up their work with a warranty, and provide friendly, efficient service – alleviating much of the stress that came with a situation like this. I’m definitely coming to them for any future locksmith services needed!

I had such an excellent experience with The Key Crew. I was in a pinch yesterday and they were able to send someone out quickly. The man who arrived, John, was knowledgeable, courteous, answered all of my questions, and did an excellent job! All while working on a car parked in direct sunlight on a hot summer day. The car’s ignition has been replaced and it now runs perfectly. I could not be happier! Thank you, John from The Key Crew! :)

I called 3 – 4 places in San Diego for a Honda Civic key replacement. The Key Crew had the lowest prices. When I went in there just before closing on a Friday, they happened to be out of stock (went in a different day than my initial call). Jamie was very nice and advised they would order more on Monday and have them in stock for me on Wednesday. I received a call Wednesday and got my two keys replaced. It took less than 20mins, was priced at exactly what they quoted, and was a very, very positive experience. Great prices, great service, this is how you run a business. Kudos to Jamie and the rest of The Key Crew staff for showing they are truly a superior business.

Ok, losing a key /​fob nowadays is frustrating and expensive. Gone are the days of cruising down to the hardware store for a spare key for 2 bucks! But I got some solid help from The Key Crew! Gave me a great price on re-​programming my Prius and keys after losing one of the keys. Ordered the fob on ebay and brought it to TKK – reasonable price and great service. Saved me hundreds of dollars compared to the quote from the Toyota «stealership.» Even offered a discount to re-​program the «lost» key fob if it shows up.

Couldn’t say more nice stuff about this shop. I took my Lexus LS460 to get a smart key programmed and I was very impressed with the professionalism and courtesy I received. I was a first time customer and would definitely go back again for my locksmith needs.

Nate from Key crew was great. We had a duplicate key from Loews that didn’t work and we got locked out. Instead of charging us the full amount to actually break us in and cutting a new key, he adjusted the key we already had and charged us a lot less. He waited around extra because the member of our party with the failed duplicate had left so he stayed till they came back. Can’t beat the service from these guys.

My Kwikset «smart key» lock failed and I needed lockout service. The tech was pleasant, competent and arrived when they said he would. It took him minutes to get in – he drilled out the lock like it were peanut butter.

I got great service the other day here from Jamie at the counter! Easy in, friendly chat, and keys that work perfect. Thank you, Key Crew! I will be back to support an awesome local business!

I called them to get a jammed lock fixed/​replaced. However, their crews were currently busy with other customers. Rather than put me off until they returned, I was given some tips of how to alleviate the jam. Despite my ignorance of lock mechanics — for I had almost snapped a key off trying to open it – their advice worked and I was able to free the jam and properly maintain the problem lock ever since.
They could’ve just rescheduled me and taken my money; instead they earned my respect. And my recommendation.
