The Home Depot

Beware! This Home Depot has 16-​inch red paving stones listed at $ 2.50 each on the shelf but when you go to purchase them you are charged $ 3.87 each. The store has been aware of this for more than one day & has done nothing to correct this price inaccuracy.

I had a number of appliances delivered for a home upgrade. One of them had a defective piece that needed to be replaced. Good luck having that happen. I called multiple numbers and got the run around … as I was moving, I had to leave it with my property manager. In the end, I think we just had to pay someone to come in and fix it.
They did deliver the products when they said they would and I had no trouble with the store staff. I’ve also had no difficulty talking with their credit card department … just don’t have anything go wrong with the product. The poor rating is due to the negative experience in this area.

Went to the appliance department on 06÷09÷16 at 8:00am. There were two associates present. I walked through the department and opened and closed doors on $ 2000 fridges for 15 minutes and the two associates there did not acknowledge me in any way. Home Depot must have SO much money that they can let customers WALK OUT THE DOOR with their money still in their pockets. I also noticed that several of their fridges were not in display mode and so were cold inside… Waste of electricity and the condensation inside will mildew the displays eventually. But HD has lots of money…

Wow this store has everything you need and the staff always wants to help. It’s a very fast moving store with many choices in every department, and they have classes to teach you how to lay tile, fix faucets, assemble and hang shelves. If you shop at night they have a smaller staff and you will have to wait. Their garden section is always fresh and delightful to the senses with a variety of blooming plants. I received excellent gardening advice on many occasions. But of course once in a while you set yourself up, and it’s a no brainier you’ll get caught in an uncomfortable situation. Once I bought organic fertilizer, a derivative of worm excrement. I returned to purchase additional supplies and next thing I know the salesman was broadcasting over the loud speaker, «This lady is looking for worm poopie! Does anybody know where this lady can find her worm poopie? DO WE HAVE MORE WORM POOPIE??» Well I think you get the idea. The thing is they want to help you so badly, they go all out.
And then my infamous visit, that began with a pedestal sink that kept detaching from the wall. Our contractor was coming by to fix it, but I was determined to fix it myself, and let me point out that women do not understand hardware, so please lady readers, don’t repeat my mistake. I pulled out one screw from the wall and took it down to the store, thinking I just needed something else to hold my sink together. I’m not stupid, I know not to ask a younger man this question, so I found an older man on a ladder and looked up at him, innocently, certain he had daughters and would not find my question misleading. I held up the screw and said, do you have anything bigger than this? My sink keeps detaching from the wall, and I think I need a larger screw. He looked at me, clearly astounded, and I pondered my question, if I made myself clear enough. He said with a straight face, that’s a six inch screw, it should be big enough, I don’t think we have anything bigger, and then he proceeded to come down the ladder and ask the younger men of home Depot if they had a larger screw, because they lady needed one, and he held up the item in question. A few faces looked at me with twisty irises, and shocked faces, as they tried to suppress a smile. Then the man said, sounds like what you need is a stud. I was momentarily shocked, not sure where this conversation was leading to. What I asked? A stud in the wall, he clarified, you need to locate a stud, and screw it into the wall, and then it will hold put. Ok I said, and I thanked him. And so that is what I did. So ladies, please don’t ask stupid questions. And what is the moral of this story? Be aware of your limitations, unless you are truly capable of fixing things yourself.

If returning or exchanging an item, and Jason is your return ‘burger flipper’, run! I am not sure if it is an affliction or a purposeful lack of motivation, but he is beyond Customer service issue — — took 10 minutes to personally approve an even exchange of light bulbs. SHAME

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, PURCHASE APPLIANCES AT THIS STORE. We paid for installation, they took our appliances away, then refused to install the new appliances on a technicality.
Then, after installing them ourselves, we discover that they’ve delivered what appears to be a refurbished machine.
I spent 1:12 minutes on the phone only to learn that a) they will not refund the installation money unless I call back in 3 days and b) refuse to replace the defective dryer, even though it’s been less than one business day since we purchased it.
MAJOR RIP OFF AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I REPEAT: DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, PURCHASE APPLIANCES AT THIS STORE.

Terrible service! Is it me or is Home Depot’s service getting worse and worse? I won’t bother with them anymore. I’d rather go to Dixieline a mile down (even if it’s a little more expensive) or drive further to Lowe’s.
I got half a dozen 1×2×8 that the lumber rep bundled together and made two cuts. Then I went back again for a few more 1×2 and got three cuts. I got to the self-​check register, and the the older woman there said that the cuts cost money. I told her that I wasn’t aware, and she said that there was a big sign there. I told her that I didn’t see the sign and the lumber reps didn’t tell me nor give give me a cut slip. She said that this was going to cost me. She asked me how many cuts I got, I told her the number. She gave me an attitude and said, «That isn’t possible. You have a lot more cuts. I’ll charge you just $ 5 for the cut — you have a lot of cuts.» I said that I wasn’t going to pay $ 5 cut for a few dollars worth of wood. I said that I didn’t want the wood. She said, «Fine, leave them.» I wanted to leave, but I just spent an hour in the store getting the stuff. So I wasn’t going to waste my time.
Then I called the night supervisor to talk to her. I told her the situation, and she said that the cut would cost $ 1.20 but she’d give me for free. I wanted to file a complaint against the woman at the self-​check, but the supervisor kept blaming the guys in lumber. I told her that my issue isn’t paying for the cut, but the sales rep who was rude when I was telling her the truth. Then the night supervisor — wanting to protect her rep — said, «Even if you have 8 pieces and got two cuts with them all stacked together, only one of the eight pieces quality for the 2 free cuts. You have to pay for the cut for the rest of the 7 pieces.» She was telling me that though it took two cuts IN TOTAL to cut 8 pieces of wood, that would be considered at 16 cuts. Talk about RIDICULOUS!
I called the store manager, Rudy, the next day and left a number for him to call me back. He never called me back.
Go to Dixieline and Lowe’s. I spent so much money and time at Home Depot. This is about the worst one.

First, this is NOT a review of this store. It’s about Home Depot’s corporate decision to not to discipline or terminate this woman when she punched in for her shift. Her hat says «America was never great», but she claims she is protesting Trump. Newsflash! «Never» covers a long time, Trump has only been on the political radar for less than a year. I call BS on her lame «explanation». From now on, it’s Lowes or Ace Hardware for me, you should consider that too!

I’ve scheduled on appointment online to get a quote. Planned on Saturday. They called me 2 days before to let me know they were unable to come but they could come the day after. On Sunday morning, an hour before the time (re)scheduled, they called me back again explaining they couldn’t make it either… Why would I trust a company like that on a project in my house?

This place is always so big and you can find all your home improvement needs here! The only reason why I give them 3 stars is because it’s always so hard to get some good information on things your looking for. Or even just to get help! It’s a big place so I’m sure it makes it more difficult for the employees to get to everyone. I always try to track someone down but they are always so busy helping someone else out or there’s a few people already waiting for the associate. So I almost kinda give up. It’s frustrating coming in not really knowing what the best product to get to get your project done. But at least the prices are usually pretty good! You can also rent out tools and a trick here if you ever really need to. You don’t have to worry about buying the big ticket items that you may only use once or a couple of times!

Did you know it’s possible to fail at copying keys? Yea… I didn’t know either until I had a set of 3 keys made here. The nice lady used two different machines to copy three keys, and all seemed well. I soon realized the keys were no good when my wife couldn’t get into our apartment! Not cool!
I went back and got a refund then found a local key shop to do it. 3 stars because customer service has always been friendly and helpful, not one star per failed key. =/

It’s possible that I just have somewhat high expectations because of the way the Sports Arena store is — employees are friendly, helpful and attentive. Definitely not the case here.
I went to return an item tonight. I walk in and nobody is in the returns line and there are THREE people behind the counter. One lady is mopping, one guy is on the phone and one lady is standing next to him doing absolutely nothing.
I stand there for nearly 5 minutes without being acknowledged (lady doing nothing definitely saw me) and I notice that the guy hangs up the phone so I walk over to the other end of the counter (probably not for returns) and I stand there for maybe two minutes, directly in front of them, staring at them. They’re talking about the phone call and didn’t bother to acknowledge me in any way. I’m a little shocked and then a guy walks in and walks straight up to returns and it takes mop girl all of 2 seconds to start helping him with his return. WOW. All the time I was standing there at least 3 or 4 employees walked by and nobody said anything…
I’m glad I work in Point Loma and have the option of Lowes because this makes me not want to shop at HD ever again.

Absolutely disrespectful employees who do not have any regard for their customers. They’re rude, give you the run around and no one wants to help you.
There’s one younger guy specifically at the returns desk who did not want to help us return our order and kept directing us to another department to return. We go there and they tell us they don’t do returns here and that we have to go back to the returns desk. We finally go back to the returns desk and a young girl ended up helping us (Amanda, very sweet) and then the younger guy comes over and tries to tell her that she can’t help us??? Unbelievable.

I don’t own a home but something about Home Depot always makes me happy. It must be all that HGTV I watch ;) they have a great garden center and during Christmas time they had an awesome tree selection. The trees were lot all displayed but the prices were great and we brought a cute tree home that lasted for weeks.
I never had a technical question at this particular store but in the garden section the staff their seemed to really know their inventory.
This store in particular has never been too hectic and they always have nice displays. I had a few keys made here and that went well too.

I think this Home Depot redeemed itself from the last Home Depot experience that I received approximately 15 minutes ago.
They had the pick up truck available for me! I can finally run my errands and pick up my furniture pieces!
Just a little tip for truck renters, if you are looking to rent a truck from them you must have a current valid proof of vehicle insurance.

I love Home Depot, but lately they’ve really been busting our balls. We bought a fixer-​upper this past year, and have been doing a ton of work to renovate the yard, rooms and bathrooms. Needless to say we’ve been spending the vast majority of our time and money at the local Home Depot.
First, there’s the selection issue. When doing home renovation, chances are that you’re going to need more of an item (flooring, tile) than they have on the floor. However, you should never assume they know how to get you more of that item. Half of the time they’ll tell you they have more in the back of the store, then go and look and see that their inventory is wrong. The other half of the time they’ll send you to a different store who will do the same exact thing (this has happened to us no less than 5 times). When the second store was 40min from the first one, that’s no small thing. I’m not sure why their inventory lists don’t sync or update, but perhaps that’s something they should work on for the new year…
The final nail in the coffin was the time that we placed an order to be shipped from another store to our local store. When we went to pick up the item (already paid for, should I add) the employees couldn’t find it. While wandering the store, waiting on the employees, we found our missing tile– back on the sales rack! If someone had picked it up to buy it we (and Home Depot, apparently) would not have been the wiser. Thanks, HD, for that great attention to detail. Perhaps that’s why their inventory is so screwed up.
We still come here for plants and the odd tool, but if you’re a contractor or working with contractors I’d seriously reconsider doing your shopping here.

Came in to price some new tools for the board. It wasn’t too packed in this Sunday, and yes– we did get a little lost looking for a few things, but the employees knew exactly which way to point us. Home Depot always has what you need– and always reminds me of all the skills I don’t possess.

Average quality home depot. Big real estate so it is difficult to feel cramped in here. But when returning items here, the customer service line sometimes extends past the sliding door. Not the best set up. Also asking for help is definitely a hit or miss. Some visits the employees are immediately available for you and other times its hard to flag them down. On a side note, I thought it was funny some other customer approached me asking if I was looking for some outside work. I politely said no I am already employed with a reputable company. Smh.

Maggie the pug. She eats and eats and eats.
We have some variety of Ash tree in our backyard, and she eventually decided that she loved to eat all the seed/​berry things the tree produced.
Soon, her poop became more seed/​berry than poop, and we thought, «Hey…maybe she is eating too many of those things.» Responsible dog owners, you see.
So, we built a makeshift fence around the seed area. But Maggie now was addicted to the seed/​berry things… so she kept breaking into, over, around, and under the fence. Watching her fat pug belly do wildly athletic things had its charm, but we soon returned back to the aforementioned more seed than poop dilemma.
«Maybe,» we thought, «we should build some sort of like REAL fence or something???»
So we did… and The Home Depot staff was EXTREMELY helpful as we aimlessly walked up and down the aisles looking for fence-​like materials. They pointed us in the right direction, suggested different types of products to buy, and with just a little elbow grease, BLAMO: fence meet pug and pug meet fence.
And Maggie’s poop is poop again!

Always a go-​to place when I need something for the home. Really, Home Depot is like a candy store for guys! I go in and even though I know what I’m there for, I see so many things I would like to get or that I need as well.
Today was a trip like hundreds of other trips I’ve made to Home Depot but felt it time to give them a shout out. This store is located close to the intersection of two major roadways in a large strip mall and across the street from another major strip mall. There are grocery stores and countless places and a Target all within walking distance. The DMV is even a few blocks away so if you have a lot of errands to run and Home Depot is on the list, this is a great one to visit.
Parking is never an issue and the store is impeccable. Plenty of people who work at the store to help you find anything. I came in for light bulbs, door hings, picture hangers and new blades for cutting tool. They had everything I wanted right there in stock and all were easy to find. Completely effortless shopping. Again, the only difficult part was after I found everything I wanted, I still wanted to walk the store and check out things. I really like going to Home Depot!
Now, I would have given a full 5 stars, except for the check out. I went through self check out and everything was going fine up until the payment. It said I could use Apple Pay so I tapped my phone and it came up on my screen. No problems but then a message came up on the Home Depot checkout screen for the attendant. The Home Depot attendant came over and told me the Apple Pay doesn’t work! I even showed her where it said tap screen and when I did, the payment came up on the screen of my phone. She told me it worked when they first set it up but then stopped and they’ve never looked into getting it fixed.
Okay, Home Depot, if you offer something like this, you need to fix it when it’s not working. Can’t be the first business to have initial problems with Apple Pay and I’m sure you have IT people that work for your stores. Get this fixed and I’ll gladly change my review to 5 stars, but having this not working and your own people at the store know it hasn’t been working for awhile and no one doing anything about it is unsatisfactory.
Of course I’ll still come to this store but it would be nice if they would get this fixed. Home Depot and this store in particular, is great!
