This is the second time I have gone there and perhaps the worst customer service ever. If you are going to have your daughter or a very young girl work the front perhaps you should teach her what customer service is all about. It is not about frowning and acting like you hate being there… Not to mention she is rude rude rude! Too immature to be working that position. The first time I let it go. Today I went in to have a tiny bar pendant be engraved with 4 letters. We are talking 2 mm high and 16 long. Wow… She looked like she had seen a deer in the headlights when I asked her about engraving it with the name Kris on it. She went to the back and asked a few questions and came to me and said fifty dollars for a base fee then a bit more more each letter! Are you kidding me?! The price was shocking too me but the blank stare on her face with absolutely no customer skills at all were baffling too me. I am shocked they are still in business!!! Rude rude rude!!! I shop alot and have never ever encountered something like this. I really wanted to say something to her but thought i would save her the tears! She needs to gain customer service and a personality!!! Very poorly run business!!!

I had my fiancé’s wedding ring engraved here and it came out beautiful! He did such a great job we are now going to have six flasks engraved for our groomsmen! So reasonably priced, very patient, and great customer service!

Awesome engravers! Fantastic «mom/​pop» store! My husbands command, in Coronado, makes trips up here to have their items engraved here because of the quality and price. Recently we had some personal items engraved and we were happy with the end results.
They do give military discounts!

We used The Engraving Store for wedding party gifts for our groom & groomsmen last month. The engraving work we had done was lettering on Hydroflask pint glasses.
The engraving itself is great. (See photos.) I brought the pint glasses in the week of our wedding, and they were able to complete the glasses within 24 hours, which was super helpful! I also wanted to add a tiny linear design to one of the glasses, and the lady in the shop was very helpful in picking out a style that would work with the overall design.
The only reason why the shop is getting ⁴⁄₅ stars is because of multiple customer service issues we had – I had emailed over a mock up of what I was looking for, but never received a response. I had to call the shop to figure out if they could even do what I was looking for. When I brought everything in, I was told that I could pay with card (For a small fee) upon pick up. I ended up having a ton of wedding follow up to do the day I was going to pick up, so just had my mom pick the items up. When I called to make sure it was ok for my mom to pick up and if I could pay with card over the phone, I was told that I couldn’t pay card, when I was initially told I could. The lady was also very short with my mom when she picked up – Saying they don’t keep orders filed under name (Which they do – It’s on my receipt) and that I «probably didn’t even tell her [my mom] that she had to pay cash.» (When I did, and my mom was prepared with cash.) It was just very frustrating dealing with such shortness during a very stressful time, and when we paid nearly $ 200 for the engraving of 4 pint glasses.
In the end, the work done on the glasses was great, and the turn around was very quick. I’m hoping we just caught them during a busy and stressful time, since most of their reviews for customer service are on the positive side.

I had two more Zippos done, and couldn’t be happier! Tim used a new machine, but showed me a sample on his own lighter to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. It was perfect, as was the final product. Headed down next week with another project. Awesome!

Love these guys… they helped me out awhile back with my fantasy football trophy engraving. Good prices… respectable service even considering the vulgarity of my league. Thank you see you next season

My experience is based solely on a phone call that I made to the store for an estimate. I couldn’t tell you what his name was because he simply answers with «engraving». After I explained to him what I was looking for, he seemed very annoyed by it and simply said he doesn’t do that. This was enough for me to never come here, costumer service is a must whether you provide a service or not.

They do great engraving work. Most items are turned around in 24 hours. The price may be a bit higher than other places, but I’ve never been turned away with the excuse that they are busy or don’t have the time for my project. Thats worth the extra money. Everybody who works at the store (family owned) is very friendly. I’ll definitely be back.

We have been bringing all of our plaque and engraving business to The Engraving Store for the past two years. They do an impeccable job on all projects, large and small. From an individual nameplate to large perpetual plaques and individual beautifully-​engraved certificates of recognition. Everything is done quickly to our specifications, including complex program logos. The staff is cheerful, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure complete satisfaction. Before finding this firm, we had tried several other engraving shops, with less than stellar customer service. Now that we’ve found The Engraving Store, we will continue to get all of our dozen or so annual plaques done here. Thank you for your great work and service!

It’s great to find a family run business that has excellent quality and customer service. I was designing a recognition plaque and their selection of font type was perfect. Numerous people commented on how much it matched our theme. For those special items that you want to be perfect go to the engraving store

Very disappointed. I brought a business card holder in to get engraved with specific instructions. No upfront quote was provided. When I went to pick up the item, it was not done, then when it was finally done, it wasn’t done per the instructions. Lastly, I was informed that I owed 127 dollars. Poorly run business.

Family owned «mom-​and-​pop» type engraving and personalization store.

Great selection and outstanding service. I was looking for a gift for a Boy Scout volunteer and The Engraving Story has a variety of vases and did an outstanding job with the engraving. It was done the next day by 3pm. Looking around the store I found other ideas for recognizing adult leaders in the troop. I already gave the name of the store to troop leadership when I shared a picture of the gift. This will be the first place I look next time.

Service, price, and quality are truly the hallmarks of this business! I broke my name tag however didn’t notice until I was packing for my trip (the night before of course) and was in a panic that I wouldn’t have one when I showed up to work at a new location. My flight getting into San Diego was late and anxiety increased in each minute of delay… I found Daisy here on Unilocal and Daisy eased my panic with a calming smile
The service was prompt and professional and where I would’ve paid triple, the price was more than reasonable!!!
This is undoubtedly the best place to meet ALL if your engraving needs!

Been coming here for over 25 years. High time I wrote a glowing review of the store and its owner, Tim Case. Tim and his family are shopkeepers of the old-​school. By which I mean they go out of their way to do a great job and make sure that the customer is satisfied. So nice to see family-​run store in this day and age that prides itself on customer service. and as if that weren’t enough, they are the best engravers in town. Almost went to another place closer to home to have something engraved yesterday but it didn’t feel right. Came back to The Engraving Store and they did it exactly how I wanted for one third the cost of the other place. Thanks Tim!

I had worked with Daisy a few years back on two different engraving projects that turned out really nicely so naturally I wanted to give them my repeat business. I spoke with her husband Tim on the phone about my project and he seemed really cool. He told me to come in with my piece and we could look at all the options. I came in and he and his other employee, whose name I didn’t catch were in such a hurry they didn’t want anything to do with my project. I wanted to get an engraving done with some special characters and rather than take the few minutes of all of our time to go back to the computer and look at the special characters, Tim told me he was too busy with too many projects, he didn’t have the time and the only way he could do all this was to have me print something out, send it into him which he then would recreate into a proof and we would go back and forth.
He created this whole process over something so simple that would have taken probably 3 minutes to nip in the bud right then and there. He wasn’t willing to sit down with me and go over what I wanted for my super simple engraving project. I told him that if he wasn’t willing to make time for me as a customer, I would be taking my business elsewhere and so I left.
I called around and found an awesome place called Village Gifts in La Jolla and spoke to Scott on the phone. He was incredibly nice and accommodating and told me to come down there to take a look at my needs for my engraving project. I went down there and he spent the time with me on the computer looking at the special characters and fonts and really took his time to make sure I was totally satisfied with my engraving. He was a pleasure to work with and gave me the customer service every customer deserves when spending money in someones business establishment, unlike what I experienced at the Engraving Store. What a shame really.

Superb establishment. Family owned and operated. My order, which I thought was unorganized and difficult to understand, was graciously and masterfully received. My crude concept was transformed into a work of professional art, including my organizations logos – painstakingly recreated by the establishment’s artist.
Despite an already good turn-​around time (2 days), they had the plaque done the same day. In fact, they called me back while it was being made. I was able to come behind the counter and watch the laser etching! I felt like a kid again, it was so cool. They explained to me how everything worked, and had no problem answering all of my questions.
I not only left s VERY satisfied customer, I nearly felt part of the family. I will be coming back here for all of my future work, and will certainly be referring all of my associates.

I needed to make a copy of my apartment key, but Walmart self-​service and Home Depot couldn’t do it for me. Home Depot steered me to the engraving store «next to Marshall’s that closes at 7.» Shoot, crunch time I had 15 minutes left. When I got there I was surprised to see it was actually called «The Engraving Store» haha!
Anyways the owner looked like he was about to close when I saw him. He asked if I needed anything and I told him I needed a key duplicated so he told me he closed at 6 but he would do it anyway. SCORE! He walks back into the store and returns about 30 – 45 seconds later and I’m thinking, «Nooo he can’t duplicate it either,» but lo and behold he shows me a duplicate and tells me it’s on the house.
LOVE! I will never go anywhere else to duplicate my keys!!!

I love working with small business owners who take obvious pride in their work. The Engraving Store is definitely one such business.
We came in a few days before our wedding to have our rings and 3 nambe vases for our parents engraved. We thought we were really pushing it in terms of getting things done in time, but the owner assured us they would be done the very next day!
He worked with us to optimize the looks of the finished product, and they came out perfectly and for a very fair price. I won’t go anywhere else in SD for engraving.
