Sun Orthodontics is the place for you and your family’s orthodontic needs. We provide a full spectrum of orthodontic treatments for adults and adolescents from minor tooth movement to correct spacing, crowding, thumb sucking habit to major skeletal discrepancies which may require extraction or orthognathic surgeries. We understand how important a straight, beautiful smile is, which is why we offer the state-of-the-art appliances and revolutionary services. We use only the latest procedures and technologies such as digital photography and radiology, self ligating brackets (Damon, Innovation), Invisalign. Our highly qualified staff will treat you with the courtesy and respect that you have come to know and expect when you visit us at Sun Orthodontics. Our caring and personable staff is always willing to answer any questions you might have. We want your visit with us to be as comfortable as possible, and we strive to continually serve you better. Our reception area has a Playstation 2 with 25 different games, cable music, up-to-date magazines, and a quiet environment where patients can relax. Soft, soothing music plays throughout our treatment area. Blankets and water are also available upon request. We are passionate working professionals who pride ourselves in providing superb quality services and deliver exceptional orthodontic results to our patients by combining the right mix of state-of-the-art equipments, procedures, innovative technology with one-on-one personal care. The smiles we helped create have graced runways, television show (Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader), the big screen (Bring It On), and many beauty pageant stages where our patients have been crowned (Miss Teen Rancho Bernardo, Miss Teen Poway, and runner up Miss Teen China). We are proud winners of 2009 San Diego Award for the best in local business in orthodontics category, 2010 America’s Top Dentist, and 2011 San Diego Top Docs Award.

Melanie D.
Business Owner
Dr. Melanie Duong has been creating beautiful smiles for 25 years. Dr. Duong received her B.S. degree in Chemistry, magna cum laude, from University of Arkansas. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at University of Alabama where she ranked in the top ten of her class. Dr. Duong practiced general dentistry for eight years in the United States Air Force prior to specializing in orthodontics. Dr. Duong attended the top-ranked University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned her postgraduate degree in orthodontics.
A published author and public speaker, Dr. Duong maintains memberships in several professional organizations including the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, California Dental Association, San Diego County Dental Society and the San Diego Orthodontists Study Club. In her personal time, she enjoys traveling, photography, flower arranging, dancing and painting.
