Stor’em Self Storage

I wish I could give negative stars! Came to empty my storage unit and it was ransacked and half my belongings were missing and a bunch of stuff broken. Waiting on the police now. It had to have been an inside job because I had an extra key at the front desk in case I ever lost mine, and the lock was not tampered with at all.
I am so upset right now! Missing many priceless and costly things!

I don’t often leave bad reviews but this place leaves something to be desired. I currently have a space there and it has fit my needs. I got in because they had a special posted that was competitive to others around the area. It also happened to be located in the middle of the place I was moving from to the place I was moving to. Since then, they raised the fees but now that I am there it is more difficult to set up to move. So I see why the other reviewer noted that it is a good option if you just need something short term.
The people there have always been friendly. They are really nice when you come in and always smiling. The issue is the way this business is set up. They usually only have one person working, so when they take a lunch, no one is there and you do not know these hours ahead of time. If you head there with some stuff and they happen to be on break, you are out of luck and need to try to come back and hope they are there when you do. Aside from this, their posted hours of business are very limited (only normal business hours during the week-​which is when I happen to work as well).
In addition to the lack of access, I have sent emails to this place (the email listed on the website) and have never received a response. I will be selling my condo soon and will move my stuff to another location when I do.

Not a good experience… After a little over a year of using them, Me and My fiancée are considering switching. Just have to clear my schedule to do so, because their operating hours are the same as my work demands.
Not only are they only open from 8 to five, but they are only open from 12 to 5 on Sunday. It sucks that I happen to be an American who does things such as clean a garage out or bring an air-​conditioner to storage on a Sunday morning. Wait, I can’t or at least til noon…
So, i figured out i just had to deal with their hours. About a month ago I scheduled a camping trip and needed a grill for the event. So naturally I took off on my lunch break from work in Mission Valley and headed to SD Storage to pick up. I was greeted at the door by a clock stating that they were out for lunch and would be back at 2:15. I looked at the time in my car and saw that it was 1:20. There was no way in heck I was going to wait there. I ended up going and buying a new one because the thought of sacrificing another lunch break made my stomach angry.
It happened again… I needed to bring some old boxes and clothes to storage via my fiancée’s request. I again went on my lunch break this time around 12:45. Again I got the
clock.
This review has been written months after a rate increase that was not properly disclosed.
Another note: We were late ONCE, and they called the day after it was due, several times along with an email. We happened to be out of town. At this time they increased the rate by 10 dollars. Since it was automatic bill pay and it was set up for the original amount they would not accept it until the exact amount was sent to them.
We emailed them regarding the payments and they have not responded whatsoever. They are quick to contact you when they want to raise your rent, but if you have any questions they will be treated as if they are out for lunch. Bön Appétit SD Storage.

I had some reservations about this place when I first saw it. The building looks a bit run down, and some of the outdoor lights were burned out. However, I couldn’t afford the higher fees that competitors were charging, so I rented a locker and hoped for the best. The staff were all really polite, and nothing got stolen or anything in the 3 months my stuff was there, so I guess it was a good choice.

I would definitely recommend SD Storage. Emily was so helpful and professional — explaining everything to me. After filling my unit, I left to drop off the truck but didn’t have correct directions. I went back to the storage facility and Emily was kind enough to look up directions for me. I was stressed out because my truck was late but she calmed me down with many smiles and professionalism. Thanks Emily!

There are good move-​in specials, so if you do not have to store too long this should be your spot, which is in the Old Town area. Outside of that they also offer military and senior discounts. This storage facility is located just across from another storage facility, but this one is in much better condition and is run be a very pleasant lady who really works with you if you need it. The only problem is that the hours are pretty short, they close at 5 p.m. each day, but I guess a lot of storage places do that.
I’m hoping hat I will not need these services too long, but I’m glad there is someone nice and helpful to talk to if I do. I’m moving, which sucks, but this places helps soften the blow.
One bonus is that they accept various forms of payment, including online!
