They were always very professional and consistently less expensive than the dealer. You just don’t get a loaner car like you do at the dealer!

I can’t really speak on behalf of the «expense» and what is fair and not fair because this is just not my category or comfort zone. Of course, if you look hard enough– someone else can always do it «cheaper». I feel I paid fairly for quality, convenience, and great customer service.
What I can tell you is I do believe what I paid at Stephens was less than BMW. I also believe they did more repairs than BMW intended to do and therefore I believe I got more for my money.
1) He paid for the towing from the dealer to his shop.
2) He provided a ride for me to/​from his shop as well (I was planning on walking or taking an über)!
3) When I picked up my car it was washed and clean on the inside. The last 3 things; the towing, the ride, the carwash– they are small expenses compared to what I had done– but it was the customer service, the lack of harassment, and feeling comfortable with the repairs they did for me.
I feel I was treated respectfully, fairly, and I do plan to return.

I have owned several Mercedes vehicles and had the pleasure of speaking with Steve several times over the years. He has always been very generous with his time in providing information over the phone. Today was the first time I was able to bring one of my cars in for service. Steve and his team were highly efficient, courteous and reasonably priced. They fixed the problem the first time and diagnosed another issue without charging extra. What more can you ask for in a high end independent shop? I highly recommend Steve and his team if you own a Benz and are looking for a much more affordable alternative than the dealership.

I am giving this review 4 stars only because I have not yet inspected and driven my car after the repair. However, Steve just did a few services for me; front brakes, fix burned out headlight and a 10,000 mile service on my Mercedes. I feel like he did everything he could to make things easy. I live 5 mins away from the shop, so one of his guys picked my car up for me from my house, for the repair. I got a 10% coupon in the mail from his shop and he let me use it and keep it! A little kindness can go a long way. I have a problem trusting mechanics from past experiences but he made me feel comfortable enough so far to come back! They work on Beemer and Benzs for prices much better than the dealer. I would recommend them so far!

Steve has always treated me well, fixed my car at a reasonable price, fixed it well, and I trust his work. He diagnoses make sense to a person like me that understands the way things work. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him based on my experiences there. I drove through a flooded street today that was so deep it wrecked my transmission. I called him, and he gave me good advice to bring it in, and fixed a minor electrical issue at a fair cost. He didn’t try to sell me extra flushes or upsell me. He just repaired the car the same day for me and had it back to me by closing at a fair price for spending the afternoon fixing my car.

Once again Steve’s Beemer and Benz shines, top notch! Brought my spaceship in this morning to have the breaks/​rotors and windshield wipers replaced. Price was awesome and service professional. It was cool to spark up conversation with the team that all worked together to make this transaction easy and comfortable. Be back soon to have my ultimate driving machine serviced. God bless.

Steve wants to be the dealership alternative, but he is just like the dealer. Extra work at a high cost. I have spent probably $ 10K here on 3 MBz cars. The work was fine. The price is never the price. He starts as high as possible and then talks about discounts like he’s doing you a favor. You may or may not end up at a fair price. He looks for work in addition to whatever you actually need done. «The transmission probably needs to be flushed. $$$!» There is a premium charge for labor at $ 108 p/​hr, and in one instance he marked up parts more than 600% (!) over German-​made MBz parts (although not OEM parts). Even tho the work is fine, I can’t recommend this place bec of the approach to service. A few extra $‘s is more important than a customer relationship. Go elsewhere.

A 50% off coupon was put on my car by this business and when I went there to get my oil changed on my Mercedes, they wouldn’t honor the coupon. There was no expiration date on it. When I called the day before, the man at the desk said they would honor it. When I got there, the owner said he’d offer $ 50.00 off a $ 225.00 oil change. I left. Claudia

Update… I had to replace the thermostat housing again today. 2 faulty thermostat housings from Steve’s beemer and benz? I think not. It was over tightened and cracked around the bolt holes. I did not get to see the first one Steve replaced but I would guess faulty installation after seeing the 2^nd broken housing. 3^rd time of having repairs on the cooling system after taking the car to him for complete cooling system replacement. Tow bill after the 1^st housing broke and left me stranded, replacing the expansion tank, and now another thermostat housing. The cost keeps adding up.

I was having issues with my BMW X-​1 2013. On fri, oct 10^th 2014, my front right tire indicator on my car was showing that I had low tire pressure. I went to a gas station that night and put air in all four of my tires according to the PSI indicator on the side the car. The next day when I turned on my car, all for tires were now indicating that they were low on pressure.
I spent the better part of my entire weekend going from gas station service to next, repair shop to the next repair shop only to find that no one can figure out why all four tires were leaking air.
I brought my car into Stephen’s shop, and his crew automatically began to look at the vehicle. Stephen told me that because my vehicle was a lease vehicle, it came with a manufacturer warranty on it, therefore he could not make any major repairs, if they were needed. However, he did tell me that he and his team would do everything they could to see why the tires were leaking air. I don’t know what kinda magic they worked, but they got the computer on the dash to stop indicating that all four tires were low on pressure. Stephen did not charge me at all for this service, and was even nice enough to offer to wash my car!!! What??! That’s freaking awesome.

I took my 2004 BMW in because the convertible top wasn’t going down and the front bumper needed some help. Steve was so very helpful and also showed me some things about the car I didn’t know. David is an excellent addition to this business and went beyond to make sure everything was correct before I left. There couldn’t be a better place to take a Beemer or Benz. I will continue to bring my car here for ant service it requires.

After reading his reply which is terribly incorrect, here is my reply to him since he may not remember all the details of the scenario.
«You asked me if the car was worked on previously, once I arrived at the shop! Not when I spoke with you over the phone. So it’s not a matter of me being straight forward with you or not, as if I was attempting to hide the vehicles history, I wouldn’t have even been aware that it was concern of yours until you ask! If that was a valid concern of yours, why wait all the way until I tow it in to ask? So I could think „well I’ve gone this far might as well go through with it“? Bait and switch…»
He is making it appear as if I am the one who was masking any previous work until I finally brought it in, when in fact he, being the business for 28 years, as he states, failed to address a concern of his, all the way until I went through the process of having the vehicle towed in. As a matter of fact, we had multiple phone conversations regarding my vehicle’s issue, so he had plenty of chances to address his concerns. Does this usually happen with a reputable shop? Seems more like a sales tactic rather than just a simple lapse in memory. Obviously I wouldn’t go through the hassle of towing it in, risking the possibility of being denied service just because he doesn’t favor the facility who had previously worked on the car, and because I addressed the facts he stated to me over the phone which were that he would inspect it for free.
This is why I brought it to another reputable facility and yes they are reputable, and the car now drives like a charm. By the way I ended up paying less and was quoted less for each repair our vehicles need versus what I was quoted from Steve. I was hoping this is just a failure to remember these concerns or something of that nature but hey, he himself claimed to be in the business for 28 years so given that statement, a professional would not forget to address a concern of his that would sway the decision on whether to work on a car or not. Which is why I stated this was a bait and switch in the first place.

Oh affordable prices. Excellent customer service. If your BMW needs repair this is the place.

I went here to get the transmission checked on my car. The BMW dealership had already told me it was failing a few months ago but we wanted to work with a local business owner. Steve was very responsive and I was able to get my transmission replaced and a whole slew of other things taken care of within a few days. He was very easy to communicate with and his staff was very friendly as well. Myself and my BMW are much happier now.

My 2008 BMW 135i fell off the BMW maintenance plan last September, so when my convertible top decided it no longer wanted to be a convertible I assumed there would be an arm and a leg involved in paying to fix it. I called around town and was told by multiple other shops they didn’t work on convertible tops, I should take it to the dealership. Then I got in touch with Steve and he had me bring the car in and told me he would take a look if he couldn’t work on it he wouldn’t charge me and if he could they would get it done, turns out his diagnostic machine worked on the top and they got me in and out of there for a couple hours of labor and the cost of some wiring supplies. The repair at the dealership likely would of been 2 or 3 times as much because instead of fixing the part they would of replaced things until it worked again. I will definitely be bringing my car back here!

At first everything was great. The person who picked up my original call to schedule the drop off seemed like a good guy and got me in the very next day. I then met that same person when I dropped my car off and I am/​was confident that he was a straight shooter.
Then the manager who had a grunt-​like used car salesman way about him got involved. Suddenly the work that his mechanic told me would take 20 minutes was going to take about 2 hours, costing hundreds of dollars. The manager didn’t know that I had already been told how long it would take. I called him out on it…
Needless to say the 2 hours was cut back down, they hand washed my car for free, did the work, and the manager acted like a nice guy from then on, but man what a scum bag. I will never go back.

Stopped by on a Friday morning to get an estimate, booked my appointment for the following Monday morning and I was beyond pleased with the service that I received from Steve and his team. Not only did they do the regular scheduled repairs, they even found money in my car that I had lost, buffed out a scratch and fixed my drivers seat!!! They shined my baby up and had her looking completely new and rejuvenated! I would definitely recommend to any BMW owner!!! Steve and his team are cool beans in my book :)

I have been taking my Mercedes here for repairs since the day the warranty expired. I was a referral from a friend who had had her Mercedes maintained/​repaired here for a decade.
Pretty early on I realized why she was so happy. Upon taking my car in to have a problem resolved Steve did some research and found that the $ 1400 part that was needed to fix the problem had already been replaced once at the dealer, so he had the car towed back to them, where the problem was fixed under warranty and at no cost to me.
While there have been some significant repair bills over the years, you do have to pay to play, and you definitely pay less here than you would dragging the car to the dealer for post-​warranty repairs, and you never have to guess whether a repair that was performed was actually needed.

I like the service I got from Steve’s. When I first moved to San Diego and bought my car I went to him and he checked everything out and made sure that whatever needed to be fixed would be covered by the dealership’s warranty policy.
Months later when I needed to have my oil changed I decided to go back to Steves. When I spoke to Steve (the owner) on the phone he remembered the details of who I was. (where Im from, etc) which was impressive, since he has so many customers.
When I came in he also remembered all the details about my car before pulling up the file, which was great since I felt like he cared to know his customers as well as the automobiles he fixes.
Since I am a first time car owner Steve made sure one of his employees went through all the details about operating and understaning my car in terms of maintenance and service, which the dealership I bought it from did not.
So all in all I appreciate the service, attention to detail, and precise work that the staff at Steve’s does. I know Ill be back every 10,000 miles :)
