Please be sure to check our 28 5 star filtered reviews! SCGSR is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, providing spay/neuter and veterinary care, and re-homing German shepherds and other pets in Southern California. A 501©(3) nonprofit. We are all volunteer and pay no salaries. SCGSR specializes in helping ill and unadoptable abandoned pets regain their health and placing them into caring, loving forever homes. Together, we can envision a day when companion animals will no longer face inhumane treatment, abandonment or perish in shelters.
SCGSR sees dogs lose their homes time after time for the same reasons. We are obligated to place our dogs in forever homes with knowledge of breed traits and proper circumstances for successful adoptions. Sometimes this process involves declining homes. Those are the negative reviews you see here, please be sure to check filtered reviews which are all five star! Visit our website at www.socalrescue.org for more information and adoptable dogs!
History
Established in 2006.
SCGSR has placed nearly 600 pets since 2006, including some cats! We spare no effort to make the perfect match to forever homes. Many times the dog people initially want from the website and photos is not the dog they fall in love with when they meet our dogs, and we strive to match the right dog to the right family, so everyone is happy! Collectively our volunteers have about 70 years of experience with German Shepherds! We’re here to help throughout the adoption process and stand by our pups by providing a lifetime safety net. We help with adjusting new dogs to homes, suggestions for training, boarding and provide an adoption community for both fun and support.
Meet the Manager
Marcy A.
Manager
Marcy has owned German Shepherds since 1989, and has rescued since 2003. Through a wonderful network of volunteers she has been able to save the lives of over 600 animals from high kill shelters. All pets entering our program are spayed or neutered to prevent adding to the trajegy of animal over population, over 4 million companion animals are killed each year in overburdened shelters. Pets are also microchipped, vaccinated, evaluated for temperament, and many live in foster homes where we come to know them well. Many times dogs coming from neglectful situations need extraordinary and expensive veterinary care, and Marcy and SCGSR strives to provide for all their needs.
