So Childish

I recently came by So Childish to get a gift for a friend’s baby. Not really knowing what to buy a one year old, I was so thankful for the kindness and advice the staff member showed me. We discussed the child and parents so she could better recommend gift ideas. (For example, we ruled out any little instruments that make a lot of noise and be fun for the baby, but drive the parents a little nuts.) We settled on a train toy that was made of metallic blocks that could be pulled apart and reconfigured after looking at a bunch of toys. Also, for an additional $ 2 they will gift wrap your purchase. Next door there is space for classes and the Friday afternoon I was there a baby sign language class was happening. There is street parking available, but on weekends the brunch crowd in the neighborhood can make parking a bit tricky.

Ugh this place is just too cute!!! I cannot stand it. How do you walk out without bringing the store with you?
I came here for the Valentine’s Day shoot. I was super excited because they were having other vendors there too! We also got a silhouette cutout of my babe along with his hand and foot prints. We got the cutest outfit with a fedora to go with it. I just cannot keep myself from squealing at everything. I felt like that emoji with heart eyes the entire time.
It didn’t make it any better that everyone was soooo nice and welcoming. They seem so proud to be running this shop and doing what they do. I see why. We will definitely be back!

For this trip I bought a bunch of stocking stuffer type toys for my friends kids, ages ranging from 2 to 5. This place is cool because they have classic and unique (no batteries required) toys. Stuff that teaches and inspire the imagination.
But this place is a lot more than toys. There are children’s books. Clothing for infants to small size children. Pieces that I think any parent would find precious. I can go on and on but you should check it out for yourself. I only expected to be here a few minutes but stayed for about 30 minutes checking everything out.

I really love this store, for several reasons. It’s really hard not to like a store that caters to babies (they cater to children in general), but the baby things here are so precious. I first discovered the location last year after an awards ceremony and breakfast at the Big Kitchen (where Whoopi Goldberg used to work). We were expecting a grandchild in the picture and I picked up a few beyond cute items. I got on the mailing list and they send me e-​mails on events they are having. My husband and I had been wanting to have handout silhouettes created by a vendor that teams up with the store (this is on the verge of a lost art form and very few people practice the skill of making them). Today, we made it in for the event with Sweet Silhouettes and we were not disappointed. The owner and staff are so accommodating, helpful and really care about their customers, this is one reason why I will give the store 5 Stars. They offer a great selection of items in age ranges, unique in-​store events (such as the one we attended) and the best service! Check them out!

I have been here 3 times now and every single time the older gal «helps» us. Each time I’m here it takes anywhere from 10 – 12 minutes for her to stop talking to the person she’s ringing up. She never greets anyone that comes to the store she’s too consumed to with the conversation that she’s having with the current customer. It’s one thing to make a connection with a customer that you’re ringing up but it’s a completely different thing to make someone wait for 15 minutes just asked a simple question. There’s been one time during the walk about that I’ve been in there with my family to buy one simple thing and she took 15 minutes because she’s talking about her prescription plan with a customer that I ended up putting the item down and went elsewhere. I get so annoyed every time I leave and it’s such a waste of time and she never apologizes for her behavior.
I think the owner really needs to check up on who she employees and how many customers she’s probably lost because of this person

This is a great children’s boutique, and I had a great time shopping for my niece and nephew’s birthday. Really good quality toys, novelty items and books. Melissa & Doug, etc. Love it! All the toys were very reasonably priced too.

I’ll give them three stars. I mean… Some cute stuff, but SUPER expensive! Especially the clothes. I wouldn’t spend that kind of money on clothes, but maybe on some keepsake toys or something. The staff didn’t really pay much attention to my husband & me, though I guess they did say hello. Anyway, I wasn’t totally impressed. I’m more the type to shop at consignment stores for clothes & toys, though, so I’m not their target market. If you have lots of $$ to spend and want the BEST of something like toys or clothes, this is your place to shop. Otherwise, check out Baby Go Round off Friars or Just Kidding in Midway. :)

The actitivies they have are great for any age. I enjoy having the photographer come by and take great pics of the little ones.
The toys are my favorites to buy here because they offer educational and healthy options for those green conscious parents.
Prices on clothing are not the best (I find some cheaper online).
Customer service has been good. I wish they were closer to us in La Mesa but going to their location is good enough considering they have some good restaurants around the area. This is my favorite children’s boutique in the Central San Diego area!

I remember entering this store after eating at Big Kitchen, when they literally first opened.
I hoped that this boutique would survive the economy because I loved the idea and philosophy behind this store.
cerebral kid items is what i’m known for. Being a god mother to 11 kids, I’m the aunt that refuses to buy them video games. I buy interactive gifts where they get to do projects with auntie, or where I know auntie’s dollars she spent on you has contributed to the development of the child.
Great store, and I will try to continue to support this local independent business.
4 stars only because of the selection it can be restricting at times, but hey you never know what your clients are looking for.

Very cool store to have in the area. I came here yesterday looking for a gift for my 2 year old niece that is in town for the week. The lady working was very helpful — I told her the details, and she immediately understood that I needed something that wasn’t too bulky, but could entertain her while she’s here. She pointed out a slew of great options, and I walked out with a really cute art set that doubles as a little purse. My niece loved it and toted it around with her the whole time! I’ll definitely be back here for all my baby shower needs and for gifts to spoil my niece as well as my incoming niece/​nephew.

Too bad the owner is rude and snobby. I thought that game ended in high school. While the store has a TON of things I would buy, I can easily find them elsewhere. There is another lady who works there several days a week and she is great. However, it’s not worth supporting a business when you know the owner does not treat customers very well unless they spend alot in her store. Go somewhere else.

I love So Childish! The merchandise in their store is so unique, whenever I take a present to a shower I’m confident that what I’m giving is high quality and thoughtful. The staff is helpful, but not overly in-​your-​face bugging you all the time.
I really like the cool stuff the owner sets up, like the mini-​photo sessions they arrange with a kick butt photographer (Sarah Jayne Photography) serveral times a year, and host Santa pictures as well as Easter Bunny pictures. Kids and adults alike love going in this store because of the friendly atmosphere and the way it is set up.
Great addition to the neighborhood!

So Childish is a very cute children’s boutique! My husband and I stumbled upon it while strolling around South Park one day.
I’ve shopped here for a few presents, but mainly for my son. I found the cutest mobile for his crib, some must-​have books that are hard to come by, as well as some other unique pieces. For my niece, I found the most awesome apron, since she loves to play in her miniature ‘kitchen’, while she ‘bakes’ like her Mom.
They have some of the coolest stuff for babies and children. So if you’re shopping for your child, for a present or simply just want to visit a cute stop, stop by So Childish! The merchandise is too cute and the owners are such a delight to chat with!

I went in to So Childish this afternoon to get a new baby gift for some friends of mine. Such a cute store and the owners are very welcoming and helpful! While my gift was being wrapped (for $ 1!!) I overheard the owner assisting an older gentleman who was kind of clueless about what to purchase as a gift for an 8 month old. She asked some questions and gave some great suggestions. A lot of their merchandise is unique but not seriously overpriced as you might expect. I ended up getting an adorable Memory book and a copy of the book «The Three-​Martini Playdate» that I’m sure my friends will love. They even tried to find me a shipping box when they found out I needed to ship the gift. Awesome customer service…
Check it out next time you need a baby or kid gift!

I go here for any baby shower or 1^st Birthday gift I have to buy because I know I’ll be getting something special and original. Yes, it is pricey, but generally worth every penny (except maybe the $ 30 onesies, haha) and they do a great gift wrap job for $ 1.
I also did two sessions of baby sign language class here and it was so much fun! I would definitely come back for another class.

I come to So Childish every time a friend has a baby. I come here for one thing and one thing only… They have these cute baby wipe holders that look like clutches! All my girlfriends love it! The perfect present for the soon to be stylish mom… I found out today that they won’t be carrying them anymore. Boohoohoo :(

I got my neice an adorable pink tutu from here for her 1^st birthday and she looked just like a little princess :)

I love this place. My baby and I check out their play times in the back of the store. They have a large carpeted area and lots of toys and you can play with your baby and others for a few hours for $ 2. I’ve met some nice moms doing this and it’s a good way to have my baby interact with others and get out of the house.
The owner seems really nice and sweet.
The merch they have looks great too, they have some wonderful, fun items. I haven’t actually picked anything up yet but I will in the near future.

So Childish is the cutest thing I have ever seen before! One of the few businesses I have spotted on the news and not Unilocal to check out. Luckily, Unilocal reassured me where it was located and to my surprise I frequently go past it. So Childish is tucked on the corner with very modest signs as to not draw excessive amounts of attention to their baby and toddler loving boutique.
The store is cute enough to make any woman of any age start firing off eggs and swooning over how to dress their baby or read them little stories. The elephant slippers happen to be voted a unanimous personal favorite of my mom and I.
Prices are a bit steeper than I expected, but the items are totally worth it. I recommend So Childish for getting baby shower clothes for your best friend’s baby or having grandparents go baby crazy. I hope So Childish stays in business long enough for when I end up having a kid of my own.
In addition to the cutest little shop ever adorned with signs that say, «Party at my crib, 2 AM» they have a large playroom that is decorated to be wonderfully baby friendly where they host crafts, musical singalongs, and other mom and baby bonding activities.
So Childish is guaranteed to convince anyone that babies are where it’s at, and by the looks on the babies faces that were in there, they already know what’s good.

I’ve been going into this store since the moment they opened. I happened to be pregnant at the time and was so excited that they had opened because I liked the previous store and was hoping something cool would go in.
The owner, Leyla is fantastic. She knows me and my Mom now and asks about my son whenever she sees one of us. Her store is run with the love she has for children and fun, cozy spaces. My baby shower was actually held here and according to my girlfriends who planned it, Leyla was very helpful and planned a wonderful day for us.
Leyla also has done great things for us Mommies by sponsoring Mommies Nights Out, and other great evening events. I highly recommend this store for anything child or baby related!

I am not going to pretend like some fellow Unilocalers, this is actually my friend’s store. I decided to write a review not because she is my friend, but I think more people needs to know the existence of this great spot in South Park. It’s located on 30^th between Grape and Fir. *Right next door to Big Kitchen.
I was there and saw the whole process of how my friend turned a large unwisely used space into the cute cozy store it is today. It’s a children’s boutique store that offers children’s lessons. Their website is not quite up yet, but it will very soon.
If you are looking to have the best present at a baby shower, this is the place to go! They have the cutest gifts that you don’t find anywhere. I couldn’t keep myself from buying stuff for all my friend’s babies. They have very cute mommy gears too. The great thing about all the toys and gifts in the store is that they are all very organic and educational, something I think is really lacking in most of the children’s boutique stores. I am seriously not just saying this cuz she is my friend, but had I not know her, I would’ve written the same review.
Best thing about her store that stands out (besides the cute cloths, toys, books, cds, furniture pieces etc) from others is that they offer classes for the children and parents. I dont’ think the schedules are posted online yet, but you can call for more info, There is a large room in the back that has sofa and beanbags to lounge around. Last time I was there, they had a mommy mani/​pedi cocktail party for the moms to get together and mingle one night out with out the kids. Lots of fun stuff if you ask me.
The owner (my friend) is very helpful and she is great if somehow you just can’t chose from all her great selections. She has great taste and good sense of people that she usually matches up the right item with the right customer.
I could go on and on about this place. But I want all my fellow Unilocaler to go check out the place instead of my Unilocaling about it. You park in the street, which usually I never have problem finding a spot. You can get a cup of coffee around the corner and shop around all the cute stores around South Park afterward. Doesn’t matter if you have kids yourself or not, it’s a great store to check out. I bought several things for myself and my friends when i was there last time. I am a sucker for good quality retail therapy. Go check So Childish out!
