Smart & Final

This place is good if you really like to find a deal. I personally just go here with my GF to get supplies for her work in bulk. They seem to have decent products and extrememly good pricing. The store is also very clean and put together well with items being very easy to find. Other than that I haven’t been here a whole lot to say much more.

I just wanted to say the employees there are all amazing! Dave really goes above and beyond and has a great attitude while doing it! He is so helpful and so nice! You just don’t get customer service like that anymore! There’s also a gentleman named cole and another guy with red hair that works the register, they are also sweet and very helpful! I wanted to somehow acknowledge them for their great attitudes! Thanks for making my experience so nice!

This is the largest S&F that I have ever seen!
It’s a little hidden behind a few stores off Midway Dr and looks like a large/​old warehouse from the outside.
When you walk in, there’s at least 20 aisles of bulk food, snacks, drinks, and party supplies. If you don’t have a Costco card, then this store comes in a close second. Prices are almost identical and you don’t have to pay for any membership fees.
Shop here for your next party or if you just feeling like stocking up.

Miss and Hit
Its dirty and maintained. Prices are not as good as your typical supermarket w/​customer loyalty card so unless you need super sized qty find a cleaner store. Parking is tight and crowded. They could find a better location in shopping center. The shopping experience is unusual — Strange layout — almost like a hardware store. A bit lacking on consumer type food, but you would expect that once you realize this is not your typical market. On the plus side there is a interesting selection that you do not find at other stores — «premades» and restaurant frozen items. The staff is not very welcoming or helpful, but nobody was rude or unprofessional either. I guess for the right time… maybe but then again there is Food4Less that is all this and le$$.

The best place if get things that you only see in a restaurant. It’s the costco for the working man.

Was there last Wednesday and have never been treated more rudely. I don’t care if you are giving things away; will never shop there again.

Great spot to get some stuff discounted. I wouldn’t shop for everything here but you can find quite a bit of everyday name brand things for a lower price. Groceries are always so expensive why not save a little. I found the store to be well organized, clean and seemed very busy. They have a small parking lot outside also which is very convenient for shopping!

Doing the job that I do, I kind of love Smart & Final. It’s almost like a much better mini Costco, sans membership — crowds and sheer volume make me despise Costco. Think grocery store on steroids and you’ve got yourself a Smart & Final.
I made several trips here over the last two years for event supplies, and they always had an option. It may not have been exactly what I needed but it always got the job done and the price was/​is super competitive. My best find here has to be the canisters of one use helium. When everyone else dings their doors and suffers through slow moving lines across the street at Party City, I come here for my helium. To top it off, when helium went into short supply, Smart & Final still had a limited stash since nobody knew to find it here. Shhhh… don’t tell anyone!

Like a membership warehouse, but so much easier to navigate the store since they’re much smaller.
I purchase restaurant quality to-​go containers for my salads and lunches, Kingsford charcoal for grilling, dish detergent and soda for parties. I do not buy food here.
Decent prices, zip in, zip out.

We stopped at this Smart & Final because of its proximity, to the other stores we needed to hit.
Let me start with the parking lot here. It’s kind of a cluster, with people turning in off of the main drag. The lot is shared between the Phở place, Aaron Brothers and Smart & Final in the back.
The layout of the store is open, and kind of clean. The people there aren’t very friendly (we walked in, and an employee was standing *right in front of us*. He looked at us a beat, then walked away. No welcome, no smile, nothing. Now, I don’t require that kind of thing, but when you see a customer walk through the door, shouldn’t it be engrained in your head to at least appear pleasant? But, I digress…)
We found what we went there for easily enough, and made our way to the registers. There were only two being manned, and one with no customers, so of course we go to the one that had no line. However, despite the fact that there was no line, the cashier was way too busy talking to the two people hanging around the front of the store to pay us much attention.
Once she finally decided to turn her attention to us, she was pleasant enough, but I can’t stand being forced to wait on the whims of people who are supposed to be customer-​service-​centric.

Came to this Smart & Final as I was in the area. I so much prefer the one in Lemon Grove so we left here and headed to our home Smart and Final. Nothing wrong just rather be at the one by my house.

been coming here for many years, that «smaller warehouse store» fits but there’s more to say than that. on some items like cheese and mayonaise they are much cheaper than costco. I consider them a staple of my shopping.

Although the store is clean and with good products and prices I just have to warn you to watch the screen as you check out. On MANY occations the shelf sale price is very different from the register scanner! I am consistantly overcharged $ 2 here $ 3 there, which means I have to go back and have them fix it. They always fix it but it’s a hassle and I can’t help but wonder if it’s done on purpose.

If you’ve never been here before, it’s basically a wholesale food store for restaurant industry folks or people stocking up for Armageddon. The fact that they sell SEVERAL varieties of 106oz. cans of nacho cheese — ya know those ones that are bigger than a coffee can — tells you that this is place built to feed the masses. The best value that I’ve found here is a handle of Stolichnaya Vodka regularly-​priced at $ 21. I looooves me some vodka, and I can tell you that I’ve scoured the earth looking for a better deal and have come up empty handed.

I like this place. went here to get a veggie tray for my diet and it was cheaper than albertsons and vons didnt even really offer what i was looking for.

Smart & final is sort of like a food-​only version of Costco. There is no membership (they did away with that some time ago). They have a decent selection of «industrial» sized food products — gallon jars of mayo, sides of pork ribs etc. Here’s the deal, you need to have a good idea on the prices of the products you intend to purchase there. It can actually be cheaper to just go to a regular grocery store. Also, I found that items can be miss marked, I was looking at BBQ sauce and the little sticker on the shelf said it was so many cents per ounce, but the math was wrong, it was actually double that price, so look closely.
This location is a little hard to find, it’s between Aaron Bros & the
Kragen-O’Reilly auto parts store.

If you’re looking for a giant tub of potato salad or 5lbs of Toll House cookie dough, this is the place to go.
This location is hidden and easily passed by since you can’t see it at ALL from the street. Located on Midway Dr behind the frame store, their parking lot is atrocious and the small entrance/​exit doors make you feel like you’re entering a speakeasy more than a store. Its not always the cheapest, but you can get what you need for a large group with ease.

I had internet coupons for buy one, get one free 12 packs of Shasta soda. The only places that I can buy it a 12 pack is Smart and Final, and the Midway store is on my way to work. I picked up my four 12 packs, and headed to the checkout. The cashier rang them up, I handed him my coupons, and he then called the store manager over.
She looked at my coupons, and rudely said to me, «We don’t take those because they don’t work in our store.» So I said, «fine you can put them back, and I’ll contact Corporate on Monday. Her name is Alicia McCall, she’s just plain rude and lazy. She told me she said to go right ahead and contact corporate.
So after I left work, I went to the Smart and Final store in the College area, and had no problems. See my review of THAT store.

I am a Costco/​kirkland fanatic. I had to go to Smart & Final because Costco doesn’t take credit cards, and I was buying stuff for work on the corporate card.
It’s been at least two years since I have been in a Smart & Final and man… they have GREAT prices! And they have a lot of stuff that Costco doesn’t!
The canned goods are outrageously good prices. The ground turkey (same brand) is cheaper than Costco, and you don’t have to buy 4 lbs. I got some awesome potholders for 2.99 (cheapest ones at target are 4.99), and they are made from bamboo and naturally anti-​bacterial! I am using a lot of exclamation points because I am really excited! I didn’t buy any, but they also have huge tubs of salads, pasta salad, potato salad, coleslaw for dirt cheap. Like 2 quarts for 4.99 or something crazy.
I did go at like 4pm on a Friday, so it wasn’t crowded, but the manager had another check out aisle opened when he realized there were 2 people in line. My cashier was really nice, and even complimented my outfit!
I am definitely going to be putting S&F into the regular rotation!
