Sleep Bedder

Woohoo! As good as it gets! I live in the neighborhood and found Sleep Bedder by accident when going to the thrift store next door. First off, come to the shop to visit the store dog if nothing else. She is really a love and quite gracious. The dog should be licenced for her warm eyes and wagging tail. She put me in a relaxed mood to enjoy homemade craft and art pieces. I bought an ‘earthy’ wall hanging that brought me back to my hippie days of the 60’s and 70’s. The store owner Sonia and collaborative staff vibed with my being. I look forward to returning and hanging with them again.

This store feels like home, first thing I noticed was that the store smelt great! On top of that, they offer yoga lesson, an open kitchen that always has food cooking. My friend and I went to the butcher store next door but we were invited to go inside and chill. The owner Sonia offered us some sausage veggie stew and coffee too!
We didn’t buy anything but we loved the store!

Sonia was so helpful when helping my girlfriend and I were looking for a new mattress. There was no pressure at all while shopping. Actually it was the most relaxing

Thanks to Sonia, my boyfriend and I were able to make the right selection in purchasing our new bed. She is very knowledgeable, helpful and understanding of consumers needs. Great experience and sleeping much better! I will definitely recommend this product and store to my friends and family.

While I have yet to purchase a mattress from Sleep Bedder, I have to say they have a very unique store that’s certainly one of my favorites in the area. Sonnia and her father are awesome people who strive to understand the needs of each of their customers, I have always felt connected and welcomed by both of them while in their store. Their collection of miscellaneous art, décor, and jewelry are a reason to stop here in itself. When the time comes for a new mattress, Sleep Bedder is where i’ll be!

I was in the market for an eastern king bed they pushed and pushed until we finally bought their bed we did want to shop around! And now the day its delivered they tell us they didnt get the right bed frame and threatened to black list me and my wife from their stores we askedfor a refund and that was denied! We will never shop there again and advise you to stay away from this store

I wish I could give them 6 stars. Great quality products and even better service. Two months after purchasing a bed, I realize how broken my sleep was before. The memory foam mattress solved many of my sleep problems. I can’t say enough about the knowledgable and kind staff. When we reported a minor problem, they addressed it immediately and solved it. No hassles, or drama. It was nice doing business with a store that values customer service so much. I’m happy I found this place. I can’t recommend this place enough.

I bought a 9 inch memory foam mattress here in August 2014, almost a year ago. I have delayed writing a review on this place because the whole experience initially left me really disappointed. However, over the last year I’ve been pretty satisfied with my bed, so I decided to give them some credit. This is how my less-​than-​perfect experience began:
My roommate bought a standard spring mattress here for $ 100 and suggested it to me because of the low prices. The store had a fairly good variety of mattresses, and I decided on a 9 inch memory foam mattress. I can’t remember the brand, but the words «Organic Cotton» were woven into the mattress. I believe it was advertised as $ 400.
It was really comfortable in store, and the girl who helped me out knew I had a budget and told me she’d throw in the bed frame for free. ($ 99 value, and now I realize is totally overpriced for a metal frame…) Which had me leaving the store thinking I scored a pretty sweet deal… until they delivered my mattress an hour later.
The mattress they delivered to my house was COMPLETELY different than the one they advertised in store in terms of comfort. This mattress had the word «Bamboo» woven into the fabric that covered the mattress, in the same font, so I assumed that it was the same mattress but maybe just a different model. However, I lied on the bed and it was so stiff it felt like lying on a pile of bricks. I’m not kidding. It was so hard I felt stupid bragging to my roommates when I got home an hour before about how comfortable this bed I was about to get was. I figured that it being memory foam, the mattress needed to be broken in. No big deal, so my roommate and I spent the next two weeks jumping on the bed trying to break it in… no such luck.
I called about three weeks later, after sleeping at my boyfriend’s house every night since trying to get to sleep on my mattress was completely unbearable. I even had a 3 inch memory foam pad that I put on top of the mattress, but it didn’t seem to make any difference. Like, at all. AT. ALL. I was so upset about spending a premium on a memory foam mattress when my roommate spent ¼ of what I did for a standard spring and had no issues so far. (She later developed back issues, even with a 4 inch memory foam pad, so in the end I don’t think she’d recommend her mattress either.)
When I called, the girl who sold me the mattress picked up. (Side note: She was a really convincing salesperson, so kudos to her, but to say she had unorthodox persuasion techniques would be a vast understatement… My boyfriend later commented on how she totally flirted with him while I was trying different beds, which is kind of hilarious to me, especially since he told me about the weird sh*t she was saying to him after we left. Still kind of weird though…)
I told her about my issue, and how I hypothesized this wasn’t even the same bed I tried in the store. Her response was totally unprofessional: «Well, why did you wait 3 weeks to call?» I said that I figured it had to be broken in, but after 3 weeks of jumping on my bed with another person and not even having it make an indent, I knew there was an issue. She seemed super hesitant to do ANYTHING about this. I said I didn’t want a refund, I just wanted the same mattress I tried in store. She told me she would see what she could do and hung up… Eventually she called me back saying someone would come retrieve the mattress next week. I guess it was a start, but I was still pretty disappointed that I’d have to wait a week.
A week later, someone came to pick up my mattress, and he delivered the «Organic Cotton» mattress to me. Finally, some kind of action done on their part… It was still kind of stiff, but I actually sank into this one, as opposed to the «Bamboo» mattress where I barely left a dent.
A year later and I’m really satisfied with my mattress. I added the 3 inch memory foam pad and everyone who sat on both mattresses agreed that this one was a 100% improvement. I’m happy with finally getting the product that I initially paid for, but the process of getting it included pulling their arm behind their back and a long game of phone tag and I just don’t appreciate that in a business. They definitely try to take advantage of their customers and aren’t transparent in what they’re selling you at all. Customer service: 0 stars. Actual product I ordered: 5 stars. Sooooooo, Sleep Bedder, I’ll be generous and give you a cool 2 stars, but start treating your customers better.

Got a fantastic deal, including honoring a Unilocal check-​in offer designated for their other location, on a bamboo’ish bed for my semi-​elderly mother. Special THX to Nikki at this location for the great customer service + Sonia the kick-​ass owner, who helped with the sale over the phone. The delivery guy was rad, too!
PS– We bought the bed about 4 months ago, and it is so fluffy awesome!

I ordered from them over the phone thinking it was ok since they had the listing of the futon frame that I wanted on their website and the person over the phone told me it was in stock in their place. As soon as I receive the futon I opened the box bc clearly the picture on the box was not the one I ordered so of course I was annoyed because I waited most of my day for this to be delivered. A rude girl named Nikki but I’m pretty sure it was the same person Sonia answered commented on how I kept saying uhm and uh and clicking my mouth. Really? After that she was asking for the site url of what I was trying to order which I spelled out clearly but clearly she didn’t know how to spell so I emailed them the link to the site I was talking about.
Eventually, I got this thing that wasn’t what I wanted returned and she told me she would still check in with the manufacturer even though I knew that they didn’t carry it, since the manufacturer website showed that it was a discontinued item. I was checking in to this store if they still had some in their inventory. So OF COURSE I got a voice mail of what I already knew and she was pushing another frame onto me but clearly they’re not knowledgeable about their inventory or the things they are selling. I’m pretty sure they don’t know the coil gauge of their mattresses or anything as long as they make a sale.
So she called back two consecutive days after that trying to push this alternative onto me WITH A GIFT which I know I do not want because the futon does not have comfort flex or European wooden slats. Do they even know what I’m talking about? I’m pretty sure they don’t because they can’t spell and are rude over the phone and try to give me this whole speech on miscommunication when they’re not doing their job right. She tried to tell me that she was the manager but clearly she has a lot to learn about running a business or even being educated about the things they are selling.
Oh and she tried to tell me that phone orders are not good but low and behold I received the right frame from a different store weeks before from a Hispanic guy who was much nicer and they didn’t have a problem giving me exactly what I asked for. I was looking for an extra from the same manufacturer since it was pretty comfortable but seemed to be out of stock but they since have added new models of futon frames. If you all want to know, the company is called Big Tree Furniture and they seem to be the only manufacturer that sells futon frames with comfort flex or European wooden slats similar to Ikea bed frames.

Owners are remarkable! Not a hyperbole, Unilocalers, walk inside & promptly welcomed with no, absolutely, no pressure. Varied inviting beds, art works, aromatherapy & a very sweet pooch, (?) Hanna to welcome guests. Thank-​U for helping the neighborhood look renewed, beautiful. We will def. be back to buy something, a bed, a, ‘bedder’ bed? This spot is awesome, Unilocalers… invigorating kisses…

Was just there with a copy of their ad on Craigslist that clearly states they have a «floor sample» sofa priced at $ 400 and if you mention the ad on Craigslist you get $ 200 off the floor sample price. They absolutely refused to honor the ad. Excuses given included a mistake was made because they cut and paste the ads, the person who wrote the ad does not speak English, and there should have been parentheses.
The ad remains on Craigslist.
For no other reason I would never do business here, or on their
site.
I also noticed these fine people have the «floor sample» sofa priced at a much higher price (the regular price I assume) in the store. Why they advertise their products on Craigslist for a lower price than they offer in their store baffles me.
The real kicker is the quality of their furniture. I wanted the sofa to briefly stage a house for sale but decided it would have detracted from the value of the house and then become a disposal nightmare.
Next day (Tues) — ad they do not honor still on Craigslist.
Wed — ad on Craigslist now prices the «floor sample» sofa at $ 400. Promise of $ 200 off that price with mention of Craigslist ad language now deleted.
Took them two full days to correct their grossly misleading ad, an ad they refused to honor, that was running on Craigslist for God knows how long.
Do you think my multiple complaints to every internet fraud agency had anything to do with that? (Probably not, but I’m sure I got Craigslist’s attention.)
And how much you want to bet that tired much advertised «floor sample» sofa is still sporting an in-​store higher price with no mention of being a «floor sample» or being tired and much advertised?

I needed a twin mattress badly, but I had a small budget. After checking out San Diego Mattress Man and 3 other places I stuck with Sleep Bedder. I went to Jerome’s and they had a comparable mattress on sell, but Sleep Bedder had a 15 year warrenty on the mattress vs. their 10 years and it was more inexpensive with Sleep Bedder. Sonia was awesome, she wasn’t forceful and I told her what my budget was and she worked with it. They also had my mattress on site, so I was really happy. The mattress is great, she recommended it based on my needs and it was a very simple process. Don’t go anywhere else, really. Thank you Sleep Bedder!

After weeks of searching up and down, left and right for a sleeper sofa/​futon, my roommate and I discovered Sleep Bedder thanks to this here website. We are two [very] broke graduate students and therefore were on a really tight budget. Sonya greeted us upon walking in and was very friendly, offering help without being pushy. After hemming and hawing for about 30 minutes, we finally made a decision, which was one of the less expensive models. Sonya never tried to up sell us, she just seemed happy that we found what we were looking for and offered us shipping at an extremely (unheard of!) reasonable price. We turned down shipping because it would fit in my roommate’s vehicle, but that didn’t stop her from giving us free aromatherapy before we left and inviting us to try a free yoga class. Pretty cool — and unique! — for a furniture store!
I really like the vibe here, and it always feels good to support a small business. I would recommend Sleep Bedder to anyone looking for affordable furniture in a comfortable atmosphere.

Having lived near SDSU for over 10 years I’ve driven past here 100s of times. And as others have said, if it wasn’t for the Internet search for a bed frame I probably never would have went in. But I am certainly glad I did, great service, friendly, informative, and even though I left with a completely different item than I originally came for, it was exactly what I needed and at half the price. I would definitely return.

Sonya was very accommodating told her my budget and she still was able to provide me with a quality mattress. Even with last minute delivery I’m very happy and pleased with customer service… should my home have anymore needs I def will run to see what that have first… Thank Guys

Since then, Sonia had reached out to me to check in on our purchase and to offer me some goodies. I appreciate her taking time to call me and checking in and apologizing for the issue that had happen. Sonia does a great job with making sure you’re well taken care of.

What’s the incentive to write a GOOD review about a company/​service if you are not friends/​family or getting a spiff or something? Well, I’m not a friend nor a family member of Sleep Bedder. I’m a happy customer and that’s why it’s taken me 6 months to get online and write an honest review for this great store.
Here I am about six months later FINALLY getting to my laptop and doing my good deed.
I found Sleep Bedder online a while back when I was looking for a new queen size bed for my 9 year old son. We wanted to upgrade him from his twin to a «real» bed– One that he would have for a very long time– yet as most of us are– I was looking for a good «deal» too. Sonia was awesome on the phone answering my questions, so much so that I wanted to come into the store on my lunch hour to check out what they had.
She was busy but sweet, attentive, knowledgeable, helpful and kind. Most of all she was professional and not «salesie»… she was very genuine. Being in sales myself that is big for me. She also gave me a great price on what seemed to be a good quality bed and box spring set. I paid in full and the bed was delivered that week on time. The delivery guy even helped carry everything to my son’s bedroom upstairs. (He could have taken his shoes off first– but being new to California I have learned that that is not customary here– so I don’t blame HIM but his upbringing :-) It’s a rental home anyway!
None the less, I was THRILLED with the bed when my husband and I put it together. The assembly was quick and easy– WAY easier than any piece of Ikea furniture and the quality was WAY better than I expected (for the price). Beautiful– Solid– Study– GORGEOUS. And I paid LESS than I would have for Ikea crap. My son LOVES it! I LOVE it! Everyone who sees it or sleeps on it LOVES it.
So, if you are looking for a great deal on quality furniture go to Sleep Bedder. I had an EXCELLENT experience there.
