It’s alright. Decent sushi and prices for downtown. Good for a casual sushi dinner.

My wife and I just spent our date night there, and we were not happy with our experience. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks, then the waitress said that there was another 20 minute wait for the food. We decided to stay and give it a shot, but the sushi was not satisfying. The rolls were half the size as regular rolls. After eating, we were still hungry. We asked the waitress for another menu, but she said they were out of rice. What kind of sushi restaurant runs out of rice?! To top it off, the bathroom they say is «theirs» is actually in a parking garage a block away. Needless to say, we will not be back, ever!

Dropped in on my recent visit to sd for late lunch. Food was very fresh. Me and the gf had Spicy tuna, albacore nigiri, awesome roll and shrimp tempura roll. All were tasty. Shrimp tempura was our favorite as it was not doused in sauce and had cucumber peel for wrap! Would be a regular if I was local. The cool thing is this place doesn’t close between lunch and dinner. Service was excellent.

Found this place wandering around the Gaslamp for some sushi around 2:30 pm this past weekend. It’s a small place — four bar seats and about six little tables — with a decent variety of rolls and donburi, and the Japanese chef and the server/owner are very polite and efficient. The Santa Monica roll I ordered(six pieces of salmon, avocado and imitation crab) was really filling for about $ 5.50. I’d also ordered una-don and that came with slices of avocado drizzled with the sweet sauce(7.99 i believe) and that was perfectly cooked, great comfort food. I’d check this place out again, especially if I worked in the Gaslamp.
