Sicilian Thing Pizza

this place is right around the corner so we thought wed try it… it lived up to our expectations. We ordered a thick crust pizza it was a ton of food. Sooo good! cant wait to try the thin crust.

Their Sicilian style pizza is so friggin good and you get so much food for a decent price. The thin crust isn’t bad either. I always go for the pesto sundried tomato and add ricotta either way. Extra little tidbit about how nice the staff are: on Valentine’s Day they made me a heart shaped pizza with my and my boyfriend’s initials written in pesto. They didn’t miss a beat when I made such a silly request and were just totally into it, taking pictures of it when they were done. Good vibes!

Oh I was so happy to have found this place after having a few beer with friends. I was getting hungry after skipping a meal and saw there was a pizza place a few doors down. After trying 3 different slices, one of them being a sicilian slice, I knew I had to come back.

A solid spot for a slice. I had the thin pepperoni & a meat combination that was thick like a brick. Both were really good and cheap. I think the tab was like 6 – 7 for a filling meal. They also let me fill up my canteen with water vs. making me buy a plastic bottle of water. There politics seem on point too. I saw a Bernie Sanders benefit show flyer up on the door. Nice people, good pizza. I’ll be back. Thanks!

Sicilian Thing Pizza has risen to my favorite thin crust pizza joint in SD. I used to be a Bronx fan, but there are several reasons I prefer STP. The slices, and pies, are very large, and very affordable. They are thin crust and very crispy. And they have a nice amount of sauce and toppings. We get a pepperoni pizza pie for takeout at least once a month, and love the flavors and value.

They don’t take card… but who cares. The pizza is so damn good. Bring yourself home a big pizza and pig out. Just remember to bring cash!

As Jersey dude. I lived breathed and ate pizza and sadly coming to the west coast, I have yet to had a pizza up to par with NJ or NY pizza but this place comes the closest in San Diego. Plus they have beer on tap… I consider this my go-​to spot.

Took my girlfriend here for the second time, the first time she was half a sleep from wine tasting so she doesn’t remember eating it… Anyway, she just told me she thinks it’s the best pizza She’s ever had.
I would also add that the employees are the nicest ever, probably the best pizza place customer service.
The pizza is good fresh and good cold as well and the prices are great.

This is my favorite pizza in town. Easy atmosphere, good food, good people. I glad they help make north park it’s own.

Still my favorite pizza place in all of San Diego! We get it delivered and a pie lasts us the whole weekend! Their thick crust is seriously like garlic bread and so buttery and rich. Get the almost lasagna pizza on thick crust and add tomato if you’re feeling extra naughty and love lasagna, because it’s seriously like lasagna on a piece of rich garlic toast.
I love their regular crust too but really the thick crust is what keeps me coming back. Also, add on a cannoli, they’re pretty tasty!

Excellent pizza for dirt cheap prices! I came by for a quick dinner and was in the mood for pizza. The pies that are on display are all available by the slice. There is a ton of variety from plain cheese to veggies to pies topped with tons of meat. They also offer their unique Sicilian square pizzas which are crazy good. I opted for 3 slices; Almost lasanga, Veggie, and the Meatda Sicilian pizza. All pizzas were excellent with the meatda being my favorite. The regular pizzas had very thin crispy crusts with a nice chew to them. The toppings were all fresh and generous. The square pizza had a super thick double baked crust. It was not at all greasy which I really liked and didn’t expect. Although the crust was thick it was still very light and airy. Each slice was $ 2.75 which is pretty damn cheap to me. My 3 slices came out to $ 9. The staff here are very friendly. CASH ONLY. They do offer beers and wine and the dining area is a bit small. I just wish this place was open late so that I could grab a slice after a night of drinking in North Park.

Tried thier pizza through Postmates 2 slice free pizza offer. The way i received it made me like where did this even come from? No name, boxes or anything not even through the app. But I and my 3 year old was hungry so I was like why not this can hold us over. Then i saw the pizza. It looked weird, I guessed because it was delivered so the sauce was falling off. So I grabbed my pizza and soda and sat down to eat. This pizza was REALLY good! I did not expect it! The slice was filing & i loved it. I looked up the address & found a new place to get pizza.

Their Brooklyn-​style pizza is delicious. Their ingredients taste fresh. Prices are descent. My only problem is that it’s cash only.

Been here probably 50 times. Think this is my favorite place for slices. They always have good beer on tap as well. Usually come with my daughter cuz she loves the Barackolli. There are several places that sell by the slice but they seem a little bigger here. Cash only so be ready although they have ATM inside. Parking a little tough — it’s right on 30^th street North park.

Hands down, my favorite pizzeria in all of San Diego. It’s not just because the pizza is so good, but also because the people here are always friendly. You can order whole pizzas (standard or thick Sicilian style) or you choose pizza by the slice. I personally enjoy coming in and ordering the slices because I get variety.
When it comes to pizza, if you don’t have the basics right, you don’t have good pizza. Sicilian Thing has all the bases covered– zesty sauce, good quality cheese, and crusty chewy crust.

Sicilian Thing has the best squares in San Diego. For those of you who don’t know, a square slice of pizza is a wonderful thing. Twice backed, light and airy thick crust, crispy around the sides and bottom. Layered with light tomato sauce and heavy mozz. If you grew up on the east coast these are very familiar to you. If you grew up like i did in Brooklyn these are part of your fabric and soul. They brighten your day. Remind you how wonderful life is. Cure diseases. And make people fall in love with you. Ok, the last one is an overstatement. I’m pretty sure they cure some diseases.
Sicilian Thing does it just right. First bite and I knew I found something special. The crunch of the dough, the softness of the cheese with browning around the edges. Very few places make squares — most are terrible. Not here.
The only thing «off» from Brooklyn style is the heavier use of oregano. It’s doesn’t taste bad by any means — just slightly different. I understand the owner is from Philly which probably explains it.

My favorite pizza place in SD. My go-​to place for a quick bite. They have different deals everyday and but my favorite is their Sunday deal; a whole pie and four draft beers for $ 26. Grab a couple of friends and grab a pizza!
My favorite pizza here is «The Thing», which is basically a supreme pizza, and the «Barack-​oli», which has ricotta cheese balls and broccoli. It doesn’t sound like a good mix, but it is surprising satisfying.
Parking here can be a bit of a hassle but there’s usually parking a block or two down. The place is tiny so sometimes I just get it to go. Great pizza!

Omg BEST PIZZA PLACE EVER! I’m so happy I found this little spot! Like literally so good my boyfriend tells me he wants to go there just for their CRUST, and I’ve never seen him as a crust lover lol. But I’ve been there twice, my first time and then the day right after just because I HAD to! I had the pineapple bacon (BEST EVER!) they run out quick so go there early to get it.
I also had the broccoli and ricotta, odd combination but sooooo delicious! My boyfriend had the supreme one, I’m not sure of the name but it looks like a supreme.

OMG, second visit to Sicilian Thing Pizza proved this place was not a onetime fluke. Wife and I chose a different pizza and it was just as outstanding. I would say our second pizza (Vegeta) was better than our first (Tomato Garlic) but that is not correct wording. Both pizzas were perfectly prepared and delicious! I think the Vegeta titillated our palates in more ways simply because it had more complex ingredients (Feta, Spinach, Mushrooms, Roasted Red Peppers and Olives). The Tomato Garlic pizza was equally outstanding for its simplicity and balance.
Wow, now I have two favorite pizza places in San Diego. Sicilian Thing for New York style pizza. Chicago Pizza Company in Santee for (you can guess which style)!

This review will be short and to the point. It’s not the biggest location, the parking is all on the street so it can be tough. They have deals every day like 2 slices and a drink for 6 bucks or something and they have some beer too. The employees are real laid back like North Park is suppose to be. The slices are crispy and tasty for the price. There are a few table inside where you can eat, the place is bright, small, cool, has great pizza well I guess that’s a Sicilian thing.

Having read some of the glowing reviews for this place and not wanting to order from a place I can’t name about 2 ½ miles away we decided to give them a try.
We ordered a Tomato Garlic Pizza = Thin crust round White Pizza with mozzarella, parmesan, tomato, garlic and dried basil = $ 15.75. Enough for three people or two meals for two.
The crust was great, perfectly done, both chewy and crunchy. The cheese was very fresh and the tomatoes were baked into the Pizza instead of lying on top. The garlic was not overdone as was the parmesan and it made for a nice balance of tastes. My only gripe is that they should use fresh basil leaves not dried basil specks.
The service on the phone was friendly and it was also friendly when we picked the Pizza up. So no problems there. Not sure I’d like to eat there as it has no ambiance and is loud. For me this is clearly a Pizza pick up place.
Based on our experience today, five stars for the Pizza and prompt and friendly service. I will add to this review when we have more of their Pizza.

How good is Sicilian Thing Pizza? Soon I’ll start a calorie-​restricted diet, but this week, I’m having «one more» of everything I love, and last night, as pizza is high on that list, I considered the following places:
— Bronx Pizza
— Buona Forchetta
— Caffe Calabria
— East Coast Pizza
— Isola Pizza Bar
— Regents Pizzeria
— Stella Public House
— Pizzeria Luigi (the one on El Cajon Blvd., not the one in Golden Hill)
— Pizzeria Bruno Napoletano
And then I ate at Sicilian Thing. Large round pie, roasted red pepper and light onion, well done. Perfection.
There’s nothing tricky about Sicilian Thing’s pies. Paul, the owner, is proud and enthusiastic about his product, so he fussily chooses quality ingredients, but he won’t con you with tales of water imported from mystic New York springs that produce perfect pH in the dough, nor will he wax romantic about flour ground under the heels of Catanesi virgins. Paul just makes great pizza.
Whole milk mozzarella; dough made fresh once or twice daily; a fragrant, flavorful pizza sauce that’s neither too sweet, too thick nor too spicy; careful, experienced hands working at the deck oven; these are the «secrets» to Sicilian Thing’s successful eight-​year run in North Park, during which they’ve served thousands of quality pies to the neighbors and to itinerant pizza hounds like me.
I followed Paul, a Philadelphia native, to Sicilian Thing, admiring his early work at Bronx Pizza, where, when he left, the quality fell off. I still eat at Bronx, but it’s never a destination for me. If I’m in the neighborhood and need a slice, I drop in. But — and this a further answer to the original question — I get in my car and drive forty minutes round trip to eat at Sicilian Thing.
Let me say that again: I’ll commute forty minutes for pizza, if it’s Sicilian Thing.
Do I care that ST’s parking sucks? I do not. Or that they’re cash only? There’s a ATM at the end of the counter, for when I forget my cash. Hipsters? Hey, people gotta eat, and pizza is the Great Leveler.
The longer I’m alive, the less I think about growing up behind the counter at my Dad’s DC-​area pizzeria, where the pies we made were benchmarks; i.e., if it wasn’t Dad’s, it wasn’t «real» pizza. Travel and a taste for «whatever he’s having» have helped me understand pizza alternatives that others find appealing.
I’m a fan of New York-​style, Neapolitan and, when I can get it, Philadelphia tomato pie. I’m less enthralled by New Haven– and Chicago-​style. And all of the places I listed above can turn out a decent pie, though some futz with their recipes, and quality control is an issue for others (I’m looking at you, Buona Forchetta).
But a slice from Sicilian Thing Pizza? That’s «real» pizza, the good stuff, and it makes me happy, every time.

I love this pizza. There is always a great selection of slices and they heat them to perfection. I love a crispy pizza and I always get one at Sicilian thing. I usually go for one normal slice and one thick slice, but if you’re on a diet you only need one. I was stuffed.
The only reason I gave only 4 stars is because it’s cash only. I rarely carry cash and would probably eat more pizza if I could use my card. They do have daily specials like 2 slices and a soda for $ 6, which isn’t bad at all. They have beer selections and a soda fountain.
I went in on my cheat day and only had two slices and a glass of water. I got an everything and a mushroom. Both were perfect and I was in heaven. If you love pizza, you’ll love Sicilian thing, but bring cash.

Carryout dinner. Ordered a thin crust Meatda pie and I said I’d be back to let them work their pizza magic. I went a few doors down the street to kill time playing at the barcade. A quick game of Burgertime, if you were wondering, since the pinball machines were in use.
Pizza ready. I returned to pick up the box and deliver the goods back home. It was delicious and it didn’t disappoint as tomorrow’s leftovers.

Cons: Cash only, regular menu is pricey, street parking only, hipster zone
Good pizza. Good times. Good spot as any in the neighborhood for a slice & a beer.
