I am very particular about my hair and only like it cut in a certain way. I am glad to find a place with a stylist that helps me maintain my hair, and isn’t always trying to get me to cut it. I understand that you want to try new styles because you get bored, or whatever, but cut your own hair and leave mine alone.

Shear Gratitude is a gem!!! Veronica is AMAZING at what she does! And the salon itself is a beautiful chill space designed by her. The girls got style!!! I recommend her to everyone.

I just went to Veronica for the first time and just had the best experience! She is super sweet, listens and takes her time. We had great conversation and it was a plus that she had both of her well behaved dogs who welcomed me so sweetly. Loved the atmosphere and I’ve had so many compliments on my hair in less then a week. She got my highlights and haircut perfectly just how I visioned them to be. Thank You Veronica

I have been going to Veronica (Hairstylist/​Owner) for about a year now. I have had my fair share of horrible hairstylist experiences, so I could not be happier that I found her! Veronica really takes the time to get to know her clients on a personal level, which makes the sometimes 2+ hour experience WAY more enjoyable. I actually look forward to getting my hair done so we can catch up. If I haven’t convinced you enough, she has two incredibly well behaved dogs that will come to the salon on occasion. What a treat!
Also, if you are looking for waxing/​facials Mary is the Esthetician at the salon. She is also amazing at what she does and reasonably priced. Depending on which services you are looking for I highly recommend them both.

One week since Veronica did my hair and since I have received like a MILLION compliments! And I have a BILLION for Veronica!
I had made plans to have a coworker do my hair for trade a few days before I was going to leave for a wedding. Not mine, but I was still in it. I had even not booked a hair appointment for the wedding because I knew I was going to cut it short and I could do it myself. Then, because I didn’t have a backup plan, of course my original plan fell through! In a panic I called Veronica. Although it turns out Veronica was also going out of town and her time was limited she was able to squeeze me in because she hadn’t booked other appointments. Thank goodness for perfect timing! She was able to squeeze me in during my lunch and I was able to rock the wedding with my new short hair-​do without worrying about looking like a mess next to the bride on the alter.
In addition to perfect timing, I found my «CUT.» I showed Veronica a few pictures of what I was hoping for along with how I spend very little time on my hair. She was able to transform my mop into exactly what I wanted. I went a little asymmetrical, and Veronica was able to guide me on how much I should do the first round lest I hate being of balance. It worked great for the day of the wedding and I look forward to getting a little more adventurous on the next round! I have never had so many compliments on my hair and I am so grateful everything worked out so well!

I spent years trying to find a great stylist when I moved to San Diego and finally came across Lauren. My hair has never looked so great and been this healthy.
The salon is cute and I never have trouble finding parking.

Pardon my french, but this place has KICK ASS FACIALS! I absolutely love the esthetician here! I have followed her for three years and she is well worth the price of admission! Mary is nurturing to your skin’s needs, gentle yet firm, and your skin literally looks botoxorrific (without the botox) after she’s done with you! She’ll help you to relax, hydrate, and detoxify your skin without any harsh scents or astringents. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who has extensive product knowledge and great sense of humor. Her schedule is super flexible and there’s plenty of street parking in front or around the block! Great location for anyone looking for a bomb facial!

I’ve been looking for a hair stylist for the last 6 months and I finally found her! Lauren was great! I called her the day before and she was able to accommodate me the next day! She listened to what I wanted and did my hair exactly the way I like it. I really like it when stylist listen to what you want and not just push you to get what they think is best. Will definitely be going back to her and will be recommending her to other friends!

I have been getting my hair cut and highlighted by Lauren for a couple of years now. When she moved to Shear Gratitude, of course I was going to follow. This is a cute little salon and it’s easy to get to from the 5.
I really recommend Lauren. I have always had trouble finding a stylist to do my highlights. She makes them look really natural and blends my color perfectly. I get so many comments from people on my hair and several have asked me who does it and where they need to go to get the same look.
I also love that Lauren can always manage to squeeze me in and of course I can just text her when I need an appointment. Does it get any easier, especially when we all have such busy lives???

Veronica is a dear friend and amazing stylist. The color, texture and shape of my hair was transformed in just under 2 hours. She is thoughtful in her technique and made sure the changes blended well with my natural color. I’ve received compliments daily since my «do» was done.
The salon is amazing as well. She injects life by displaying local artists’ work. She also supports other visionaries by selling their products. There is plenty to view and discuss while sitting in her chairs.
I felt calm and cared for during my visit. Make sure you get an appointment. It’s an experience you’ll have to repeat. Shear Genius!!!

The salon itself has a friendly staff, cute décor, reasonable pricing and overall easy going atmosphere. It also doesn’t hurt that they offer you a drink to help you enjoy your experience even more :)
Lauren has been doing my hair for years and since I met her I have not trusted another stylist in SD! She always listens to whatever idea I come to the salon with, asks questions to ensure that we are on the same page and then I just sit back and let her do her thing. I typically keep a blonde mid to short hair style and she always gives me great color (highlights, root boost) and a cute layered cut. I have never left her chair unhappy!

Julie is AMAZING! Started getting Brazilians from her about 10 months ago and I’m hooked! She’s quick and efficient so it barely seems like she’s in your private area. She’s talks to you and tells you exactly what she’s doing and why. She’s super informative and she wants all her clients to be educated on the whole process as well. Julie’s prices are the best in San Diego. I’ve also had a facial and other parts of my body waxed. I will only come to Shear Gratitude for my most private needs!

I’ve never had a Brazilian before Julie, and I have to say, just the thought of getting one is scary and awkward the first time. When I first walked into the salon, Julie was super friendly and welcoming, and just made me feel comfortable. The whole waxing process was quick and not awkward at all. Julie has a great way of keeping your mind off the pain, because she engages conversation and actually wants to get to know all her clients! Overall, Julie is top-​notch! I guarantee she’s the best!

Veronica is the stylist you want to see! Not only is she honest with her opinions (in your best girlfriend kinda way) she almost knows what you want before you know. I always describe what I am looking for or what I kind of want and not only does she read my mind somehow, she makes me look better than I could hope.
I feel like everyone has been to a salon where you walk out feeling like you just wasted your time and money and it looks like your little niece went to town with scissors. Veronica is detail oriented, each hair gets attention, and a perfectionist when it comes to the final look.
I have been going to Veronica for years and I have been able to get almost everyone in my office to go to her as well, over the course of the last year. People hesitate to go to someone other than ‘their’ stylist until Veronica is done. Not only are the never going anywhere else again, they are the megaphone for the salon and encourage all of their friends to go.
I can’t say enough good things about Veronica and her quality of work. Except that you can also have a wine or beer while you are enjoying her personality and amazing work.

Julie is your girl if you want a clean Brazilian wax. I’ve been going to her for about 5 months she defiantly makes you feel at home and comfortable when you walk through the door she recommends products for the up keep and let’s you know about the wax she uses, all good stuff to know and the conversation really keeps your focus off the pain and the fact that you have your pants off. She gives a student discount to !

I come to Sheer Gratitude Salon for waxing and facials with Julie and have had an awesome experience! Julie does a great job of making you feel comfortable and relaxed even when you are doing something like a brazilian wax which can be torture :-) I would definitely recommend Sheer Gratitude Salon.

I love this place! I’m 30 years old and I feel like this is the first time in my life I’ve gone to the same stylist regularly. I have that annoying hair that is neither straight nor curly, and I should mention that I do absolutely nothing to take care of my hair (I maybe brush it once a week!). Veronica does a great job, I always love the cuts but even more importantly, I love the way it grows in. I never have to do anything to it, the cut makes it look like I style my hair every morning.
I also tried out a facial, I believe it was a cranberry scrub, and loved it. The esthetician asked me tons of questions about my diet, exercise, water intake and gave me a bunch of feedback on how to improve my skin.
It’s between my work and my house, so really great location for me, and there’s always ample street parking. Good work ladies, keep it up!

I love coming in for a new cut and color from Veronica! I will not go anywhere else for my hair needs. I’ve lived and learned after several horrible and unflattering cuts elsewhere.
I have given Veronica the nickname of «hair color psychic» because she always seems to know exactly what I want and exactly how to make the color happen. I’ve never been happier. She also knows just what to do to make my fine, thin hair voluminous and flattering. I carry her cards around with me because everyone wants to know who does my hair.
