SGM Events

We had such a great experience using SGM Events for our wedding. Everything went so smoothly… they were one of the best vendors to work with! Music was really important to us, and Mikey Beats was SO on-​point and so much fun! He made sure he had everything down perfectly in terms of the scheduling, pronunciations of names for our entrances, etc. (And he made some super cool song transitions that we were hoping for!!)
Everything leading up to the wedding was very easy as well! The team was super professional, punctual and organized. We didn’t have to follow up or repeat anything twice! Just perfect! We’ve been recommending them to our engaged friends and would recommend them again and again.

Big Willie Styles was our DJ Extraordinaire for our wedding last weekend and he was fabulous! Had everyone dancing all night, right to the last song of the evening. (nobody wanted to leave)
It was also a pleasure dealing with SGM Events. They were professional and on-​point with everything we had in mind.
I would most definitely book with SGM Events again and look forward to it.

I had a great experience using SGM. Everyone at the business was so helpful and responsive. I never had unanswered questions, or dealt with anyone who didn’t know their stuff. Great booking and retention staff!
I ended up booking DJ Artistic and had an additional associate as help/​cocktail DJ during our wedding. I can’t say enough great things about DJ Artistic. First and foremost, he was a genuinely nice person, who stepped in to help in many ways that he wasn’t required too. He came with great ideas on how to get people on the dance floor, asked my family what music they wanted to hear and even helped my grandmother down the stairs at one point. Amazing gentleman on top of a trustworthy and talented DJ!
He of course, took my music cues and brought an entire night of music to life based on them. So many of my friends wanted a mix tape of our wedding music. How great of a compliment was that?!
I would, and already have already, recommended him. He will not disappoint!

My husband and I used Bernard for our wedding in September! We only had to meet with two times and totally nailed our wedding with music/​disc jockeying and all. We recommend him to all our friends & hope to use him for future events too!
He did a phenomenal job at reading the crowd and everything!

Upon meeting DJ Ramsey of SGM Events at the Del Mar Wedding Bazaar, he promised to work with my then fiancé and me until we found the right playlists for our wedding. He delivered above and beyond for our wedding day.
My wedding guests made a point to mention how well DJ Ramsey performed at our 10.11.15 Bahia beach ceremony and sternwheeler boat reception. He worked closely with us to understand what type of music we wanted at each part of our wedding celebration. Ramsey was extremely attentive to the wedding timeline, song choices and ensuring everything we had discussed prior to the event was achieved. He even attended the final walkthrough with our wedding coordinator.
We ended the wedding reception with a full dance floor of jumping, dancing and singing family and friends. We couldn’t ask for more! Thank you!

Willie from SGM Events was our DJ for our wedding on Sept 12^th and he did an absolute wonderful job!
My groom and I found SGM Events at the San Diego Bridal Bazaar where they were very smart and handed out sample CDs where each track was a different DJ so you could hear their vibe. After talking to SGM Events and finding out which DJs were available for our date we were very excited to choose Willie after listening to his set.
Their is lots of communication with SGM Events before hand. They definitely have it down to a science and make it very easy on the Bride and Groom which is so greatly appreciated!
Willie had every song I requested which was impressive because I know I had a few weird ones for the ceremony. Once the reception started Willie really shined! I love the changeover and mixing of songs. It is absolutely what differs SGM Events from the rest and makes it not just a person pressing a play button. The array of music for the reception was great as well. While is was sweltering in the non-​air conditioned barn at the venue, lots of guests were still busting a move due to Willie’s excellent song choices! Nelly’s «Hot in Here» was definitely an ironic yet fun example!

Nik B was absolutely everything and more than we were looking for in our DJ. He got everyone on the dance floor, even those who never dance. No matter how last minute we changed the order of the timeline Nik B made the entire night seemless. He was so professional, polite, fun, energetic and awesome at his job. If you’re getting married or hosting any event and want people to be talking about how much fun they had, still in a few months I’d suggest Nik B. We wanted a great DJ because we knew we wanted to have a night to remember but didn’t want to stress about it. With Nik B you can feel confident things will run smoothly. He even came and set up early, and had awesome uplights and our gobo turned out beautiful. Before we had even finished signing the contract the owner, donated to a gofundme account we created after our puppy was bit by a rattle snake and hospitalized. This is an amazing vendor and very on their game.

Art from SGM Events DJed our wedding at the Saint Francis Chapel at Balboa Park (ceremony) and The Ultimate Skybox (reception) and I don’t know what to say other than everything was FLAWLESS thanks in large part to him. Art created the most perfect moods at both of our venues. He does such a great job of reading the crowd and getting people going with what they want to hear. Our wedding reception was literally better than a night out at the hottest club because of Art. He is so talented at everything — from talking to the crowd, to choosing the best music, to creating a beautiful mood through lighting, to producing perfect monograms. If there’s one thing I can tell all you brides-​to-​be out there, it’s don’t look anywhere other than Art for your wedding!

I only have positive things to say about SGM events. We hired DJ Artistic (Arthur Mitchell) for our event. SGM really took the time to determine our needs for the event. They not only offer DJ’s, but they also offer up-​lighting, monogram’s, disco lighting, mircrophones, etc. We had an initial meeting with SGM events and right away we knew we wanted DJ Artistic to be present at our event. Artistic is very knowledgable and has so many great ideas for any event. He was the MC for our entire event and everyone LOVED him. His energy can turn up any room and he genuinely cares about his clients and wants the events to be perfect. SGM events made sure they collected all of our music choices for special dances and open dancing. We had a «DO NOT PLAY» list and that list was honored the entire night. Our guests loved the entire event and we have SGM and DJ Artistic to thank for making it such a fun night. SGM has many great DJ’s to choose from. DJ Artistic will always be one of my top choices for any event. He remained professional, kind, and upbeat throughout the night. What more can you ask for.

I have put together several small conferences (~350 attendees) in San Diego and there is only one agency that I call when I need entertainment options and that’s SGM Events.
I have personally worked with Freddie for over 4 years he’s the consummate professional. Even better is the experience working with his team. It’s like sitting at the cool kids table at school… they are just fun people to be around.

SGM is an exceptional company and they really go above and beyond for their clients. We didn’t just feel like another client for them; we felt like part of their family. The entire staff is very professional, helpful and easy to communicate with. You can really tell Freddie Harb, the founder of SGM, loves what he does. He was very involved throughout the entire process and he is a pleasure to work with!
SGM has an awesome selection of DJ’s, live bands, and solo musicians! For our wedding, we knew we wanted a DJ and MC who could keep the tempo up, maintain a seamless flow and could get all of our guests on the dance floor. DJ Artistic far exceeded our expectations! He was very engaging and kept people on the dance floor having a great time the entire night!
Bottom line, if you need music for your wedding give SGM a call… you’ll be in good hands!

DJ Artistic did my sister’s wedding and it was SO MUCH FUN. He really kept the party moving and kept everyone involved and upbeat. He really took initiative in ways that we didn’t even think of and was way more than just a DJ — he helped make the entire ceremony and wedding 10 times better. I would DEFINITELY recommend him!

I had DJ Artistic (Art Mitchell) for my wedding this last weekend. I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for him and everything he did to make my day even more special than I could have imagined. From my first interaction with Art, I knew I was in good hands, and this was followed by SO MUCH excitement after our first run though. DJ Artistic was the bestest ever! He was there from day one to help ensure our wedding would fun and most importantly ran smoothly. He was extremely professional and always made sure our needs were met. At the wedding, he continually checked with us to make sure we were okay and if we needed anything. Also, everyone raved about the music choice. He knew which songs to keep the crowd going which kept the party going. If you are looking for a dj for your wedding, you gotta get DJ Artistic.

DJ Mikey Beats made our wedding perfect. I asked for classic soul, R&B, a little funk. He delivered. As the night progressed, he weaved in modern songs to please the crowd. These guys were profoundly professional and very intuitive on the music selections.

Where do I begin? Words alone cannot describe how amazing my wedding day was. It’s been a year since I got married and my friends and family still talk to me about how amazing our wedding day was. The church, the food, the speeches, all of it was amazing. But the music… they still talk about the music… and that’s where Sleeping Giant comes in.
I booked an appointment with Mike and Art (aka DJ Artistic) to inquire about their wedding services. Mike and Art were very welcoming and professional. They were very attentive and took notes down as we chat. What was supposed to be a consultation felt like a conversation between friends. Their prices are very fair and these guys not only understood music, but they also understood sound. I’ve been to too many weddings and events where the sound was not equalized for the room but these guys understood that proper placement of the equipment and calibration were just as important as the music itself.
On the day of the wedding, Art arrived early. He dressed professionally (suit and a bow tie) and from what the wedding coordinator told me, was a pleasure to work with. Music played a big part in our lives and we made sure to give it priority so we told Art and our wedding coordinator two rules:
* Dancing first. Schedule second. In other words, don’t stop the music just so we can cut the cake. DJs are very common at weddings but I’ve been to very few weddings where the dance floor is packed. Actually, it almost never is.
* After 10pm, turn the ratchet level to 11. I know there are kids present, but the adults have to have fun too.
What resulted was the best wedding I’ve ever been to. Sure, it was my own wedding but I was told the same thing by a number of individuals. I mean, have you ever seen the dance floor packed after salad? We had to extend each of our vendors by an hour because cake cutting was delayed due to – you guessed it – too much dancing. But when it came time to shift gears (whether it was for food, speeches, or even the cake), Art displayed a level of expertise in controlling the crowd.
If you’re planning an event, I highly recommend booking DJ Artistic or any of the artists from Sleeping Giant. Excellent taste in music. Knows how to control the crowd. You won’t regret it.

DJ Artistic is top notch!
Professional, sober (unlike many DJs that like to drink & get faded at events), appropriately dressed for the event (wedding) and with plenty of creativity/​knowledge to take a myriad of multi-​genre requests from guests while still keeping the party going.
From the pre-​event planning to the actual execution, Art was helpful, available, friendly, and helpful.
Definitely would hire again!

We were lucky to have Nik B as the DJ for our wedding ceremony and reception. We really wanted a DJ that did weddings… not a wedding DJ. He was fantastic! He was great to work with — fun, mellow and professional. Our ceremony and reception went very smoothly, he guided us and our guests through the entire evening. It’s so great to work with someone that puts their own creative and personal touches on your day all while working with your wishes. Nik kept the guests on the dance floor and we continue to receive compliments from everyone on what a great job he did.
The entire SGM team was great that we worked with in planning. Our day was fantastic, a big thank you to Nik and SGM!

Bernard did our wedding on 10−10−10! He was awesome and I would recommend him to anyone! We were dancing all night long, he really made our wedding fun. My 90 year old grandma was even dancing!

We Had our wedding DJed by Benard Gonzalez and he did an amazing job. We gave him a playlist and told him he could add some tracks too along the same vibe as the playlist. He killed and was a true profesional! He also had no problem making announcements for our wedding and getting our guests to the right spots at the right time. Would highly recommend him for a wedding or any event if you want to have a great time!!!
