Selam Transportation

Should be able to give negative stars. I made a reservation with a man over the phone for a 5:45am ride to the airport. I waited until 6am and called where a woman answered and said there was no reservation and that she was working all night. After a short conversation she admitted she wasn’t working and that the man must have forgot to make the reservation. Unbelievable. Not only are they unreliable, they lie. Take Über instead. This service is ridiculous.

We’ve been using these people for YEARS. They are always on time, super polite, and completely professional. I can’t recommend them enough

I wish I could give them a better review but their service and timelessness has went way downhill. My driver to the airport was 15min late and now I am at the airport and have been waiting over 30min for the driver to take me home. I call and he’s supposed to be here. Sorry to say I am moving on to a more reliable company. Willing to pay more to know I’ll be on time and not forgotten.

Tired of waiting… Booked Selam Transportation for my ride home from the airport. I had to call to find out where my driver was; extremely inconvenient. I told my driver where I was standing, he had to call back and tell me he was in a different location due to a bus zone. I gave Selam a negative review before but was asked to remove it by the owner in exchange for a free ride. I accepted hoping my future interactions would be positive but sadly they have not been. Consistently spotty performance, remarkably average timeliness, and lower than average customer service have been the hallmark of my experience with Selam.
Even more worrisome was the fact that my driver was all over the place on the trip home. Drifting between lanes, swerving, even to the point where other vehicles were flashing their lights to get his attention.
Given that my wife and I use car services almost every week of the month I will be taking my business elsewhere.

This is the perfect example of a company whose services have gone downhill, and that too a steep one. Kept me waiting at LAX for almost an hour (55 mins to be precise). Driver was decent but unapologetic. Not sure how the excuse of bad traffic stands in today’s world of technology advances like Google navigation etc. Very bad experience and will not use their services again!

I’ve used Selam transportation for both personal and business rides to/​from the airport over the last few years and have had good experiences with them (prompt and courteous) but this year, my experience has changed. This year, I had a baby, so now I travel with her. On the first trip I booked, I brought my own car seat and base. The driver was completely unhelpful and nonchalant, expecting me to know how to install it in his car. Yes I know how to install my car seat, but no, I don’t know your car. You’d think I was the first person who was traveling with my own car seat. On the way back (pick up from the airport), the driver was better about the car seat, but not very helpful with the luggage. I had a lot of luggage and needed to make more than one trip to my apartment on the second floor. He helped unload the pieces of luggage onto the curb, but I was on my own to carry everything upstairs into my apartment while he waited in the car. Thanks, Buddy, what is this 20% mandatory tip I paid for? I was also carrying my 2 month old baby in a wrap around my body, while carrying my luggage. Just sayin’.
I decided to try them again on a recent trip, since I wasn’t bringing the car seat this time, and very light luggage (1 rolling bag). Well, it wasn’t much better. The pick up from the airport was horrible. I called the company and the dispatcher told me the driver would be there in a few minutes. 15 minutes go by. It’s raining. Baby is sad and crying. I call Selam and they tell me they don’t know where the driver is but he should be on his way. 5 minutes later the driver finally shows up. He looks completely unprofessional wearing a T-​shirt, what look like PJ pants, and slippers. Did this guy just get out of bed? I paid the extra $ 10 for the car seat. It was there and the driver is looking at me to install it. Seriously? He asks me if I can install it. No, I don’t know how to install YOUR car seat and as the professional, it should not only have been installed when you arrived, you should know how to do it. It took some time, but he finally figured it out.
I’m really disappointed in my last 2 trips (4 total) and am not sure I will use them again.

I have used this service exclusively for business and personal airport transportation for 10 years.
The drivers are always courteous and on time (usually a few minutes early) and they will call just before they arrive at the curb. They have your return flight info, so when they pick you up at the airport, the arrangement is smooth. They wait at the cellphone lot until you confirm (by text or phone call) that you have landed and picked up your luggage. Their online reservation service works well.

I’m very very sad. I have used this company for well over six years. Sure we had a few minor issues such as the bad smells in the car or the driver wasn’t the nicest or wasn’t that helpful, but by and large & overall I rated them a Grade B. They USED to always arrive our house ~15 minutes early.
Then it all changed in 2015 !!!
I called to verify driver was on their way…
Telephone operator said yes
Then When they were not here 15 mins early, I asked the ETA… they said 10 – 20 minutes… that would make them late!
BEING LATE IS 100% unacceptable when hiring airport transportation
So I kept calling for an update and the driver kept lying about his actual location and traffic etc.
Once they were 15 mins late, either sit around and hope & dream they will eventually come or hop in my car and drive myself to the airport; which is what I had to do…
I called and spoke to the owner. He apologized and said that Selam has accurate GPS tracking of all their cars and it was a simple matter for the operator to have traced the car which of course they did NOT.
He offer my next ride free. A trip to LAX
I thought I’d give them another try. Last month I booked them to come 15 mins earlier than what I actually wanted… good thing but it happened AGAIN!!! They were running late and as demand for the operator to follow them on the GPS mapping program…
I truly do need not this kind of stress in my life… I choose someone else.
Something happened to SELAM…

I was left stranded at the San Diego Airport last night after my flight was delayed! I contacted the dispatcher from PHX to tell him My flt was an hour late, he said he was tracking me and it was no problem.
We are good regular customers of this service and the driver simply did not show up.
The dispatcher left me on the phone twice for over 5 minutes.
I took a $ 100.00 miserable cab ride home!
At the onset of this trip our driver spoke no English and had no idea how to follow a nav nor did have a clue where the airport was!
We are looking for a new service if anyone has any recommendations?

I’ve used this company more than 100 times over 5 years. If I was writing this review a year ago, it would have been 4 or 5 stars. They’ve gone downhill quickly since Über came to town. Some of the cars are in rough shape (especially the white towncar that’s missing some of the interior trim). Also, there are some new upcharges that came as a surprise.
I’ve used them for years and recommended them in the past. Disappointing to see the quick decline.

Selam Airport Transportation rocks. Our driver could not have been more punctual and professional. He got us to the airport quickly and safely and started our vacation off on a perfect note. Afterward, there was a minor blip with the payment, but their customer service was phenomenal and took care of it almost immediately. I highly recommend these guys. :)

Unfortunately a week ago after I booked a reservation and received the email confirmation the driver never showed up! I called and got an answering machine! When I called to inquire a day later they said I need to talk to Wali. I have now left 2 messages over the last 3 days and no return call! Thanks guys!

I’m very sad to report that quality and customer service is inconsistent at Selam transportation especially when scheduling a service from LAX.
Although I had good experiences before, recently Selam transportation was more than an hour late even though I had called them earlier to let them know our flight arrived an hour early. They didn’t even fill up gas before picking us up! Not professional.
We ended up waiting at the airport for over two hours, in addition to waiting for the guy for another 30 minutes because he forgot to fill it up and then got lost! We ended up getting home really late. Next time I am choosing another means of transportation especially for LAX.

The reason for the negative review is that when I reserve car service I have certain expectations. Selam’s driver was on time and that was about the only one that was met. SUV was a late model Tahoe that had both the check engine light and tire psi light illuminated. Not very comforting trying to get the airport with your family of 4. Then instead of taking the 125 toll road, he took surface streets. I guess it’s a good thing we left 2.5 hrs early. Would not book again.

After posting my review regarding my recent poor experiences, I was contacted by the president of Selam Airport Transportation. He was very apologetic regarding what had transpired and offered complementary service to make up for the issues I had encountered.
I have to say that it really says a lot that he was willing to rectify the situation. For him to go out of his way, certainly shows me that customer experiences are valued.
I have booked transportation with Selam and look forward to a much more positive experience this next time around.

I needed a ride less than 12 hours from booking, so I was reluctant to use the website. I called and got no answer… not good. Called again 5 minutes later and got a courteous person who spoke English well. I could hear the phone ringing while I was on with him, but he didn’t try to put me on hold. He continued until I was fully booked.
They add a mandatory tip on top of their quoted rates. They do mention this if you happen to click on the «read more» link below the rates. Hopefully this actually goes to the driver. That’s the only thing that cost them a star.
They fixed the issue with accounts. You can book as a «guest» without creating an account.

My wife and I usually coerce friends to take us to/​from the airport on longer trips (when it’s impractical to use a parking lot), but decided to try something different for this vacation. I could not be happier!
All of the scheduling is done on-​line, and the process is very straightforward. (They do want you to make an account, which is kind of annoying, but other than that, it’s an easy process). Pricing seemed good (about 50% more than a Super Shuttle, but WAY more convenient!), and you can opt to pay and include a tip up-​front (meaning no need to deal with tipping or money during the actual ride).
For both the to and from airport rides, the cars were very nice (one was an Escalade, the other was a Flex), and impeccably clean. The setup is basically that the driver gives you a call as he’s getting near, to verify where you are (like «Zone K at the airport curb» or «Yes, that is the correct address»), then you hop in and enjoy the ride. It seemed like both the drivers were friendly, and happy to chat or not, depending on you.
This was my first time using a car service for personal trips, and it turned out very well. I can’t say how Selam compares to other services, but I was very pleased with the service they provided.

Selam Transportation is the way to go for airport pick up and drop-​offs. Create an account with them and it’s smooth sailing from there. The guys are easy to work with, bookings can be made online or over the phone and everyone is very quick to answer any questions you may have. If you have to cancel, they’ll do it for you in no time, no questions asked. These guys are really professional and know their stuff when it comes to customer service, being on time and being courteous. It’s nice to have professional people take you to and from the airport when the airport itself can be a nightmare.
The plus side is, you get to arrive to and from the airport in style!

I have to interrupt my overseas reviews to write an update.
I have used Selam four times this summer, to and from the airport. One driver had to pick us up at 4:30 am for our overseas flight. But the two drivers who picked us up at the airport were great! Courteous and friendly, they both asked not only how our flight was, but were interested in where we went. It is this personal service that doesn’t make us feel like we’ve hired a service. One pick up was in an SUV with tinted windows. We felt very important… lol!
I know the gratuity is included, but I still tip at the drop off. I worked in the service industry, and I really appreciate great service!

Look no further — airport transportation is exactly what they provide! It’s not shuttle service but is more like non-​stop direct-​to-​the-​airport service!
If you’re considering shuttle service because the rates are cheap — don’t forget you have to pick up others in your area too. and ride in those big vans which are fine — but why ride in that when you can be in a comfy Town & Country car for just a few bucks more? Forget the shuttle vans — even non-​stop shuttle van service isn’t worth the price ($ 73+) because it’s just not as comfortable as a car!
I’m all about quality if the price is right, and the prices on Selams website are accurate. I made an appointment a little under 24 hours prior to being picked up — they recommend 24 hours but were still able to accomodate me. I was picked up right on time (granted I was probably their first pick up at 4am!) & the gentleman was very nice.
FYI — I’ve paid $ 83 taking a taxi one-​way home from the airport. Selam cut my cost in half! I can get a round-​trip price with Selam for the price of taking a taxi one-​way.

They are now my go-​to airport transportation company! I am so satisfied with their service that I already made a reservation for my trip back using their online system. FYI — They have SUV/​Vans too but they’re $ 20 extra.
