This place is the WORST!!!
Parking rules are so hard to follow. Last night my Mothers moving truck was towed from in front of our house and it had a parking pass on it.
You can’t park more than so many days in a row and maxed out on so many times you can park in a month. My Boyfriends car has been moved twice!

Because I HAVE TO leave a star, I wouldn’t give it one if I could. Wish I read reviews on the escala property in Mission Valley, especially regarding parking. Got towed last night from a guest permit parking when I had a guest parking permit. Was towed for «over the limit» parking according to the tow company, Western Towing. Didn’t know there was a time limit and there weren’t any posted signs indicating a time limit so we still don’t know what that time limit is. I’ve been parking in guest parking for the past 5 months with no issues and when I’m parked, it’s never for more than 3 consecutive days. My car ALWAYS moved every single day and parked in a different guest permit parking stall. Nowhere on the lease agreement did the landlord indicate property parking rules except for the garage. The decency to at least let tenants know what all the parking rules are so we can plan accordingly would’ve been appreciated before waking up to a $ 352 tow fee and being late for work! Because we are tenants, HOA would typically discuss matters with the property owners. When my fiancé went to HOA to ask why there are so many guest permit parking than resident parking, he was told to park in the garage. His vehicle cannot fit in the garage so he had to park on Fenton Parkway curbside when resident parking stalls are full yet there is always open guest parking spots but the residents can’t park there with a resident parking permit without getting towed.
My fiancé was looking for the security guard who dispatched the call to tow my vehicle and found a security guard asleep on the job.
I have experience working with municipal government and anywhere you go in the general public you will see a posted sign, a courteous warning to all that there are parking restrictions. Street Sweeping schedules are posted in every area with a parking restriction from this time of the day until that time of the day, NO PARKING. parking citers follow these sweepers during their entire schedule to cite those who are not compliant. It is common courtesy to warn the general public. I can understand if we parked KNOWING we would be towed and then disputing a ticket I am guilty of but this is not the case.
I was given a guest parking permit and was told to park in guest parking stalls clearly marked «GUEST PERMIT ONLY» posted signs warn that parking on the property are for permits only. None of the signs warn of a LIMITED TIME to park in any of the stalls. And if it is an HOA code of conduct that is noted and agreed by the homeowners then the homeowners who are renting out their properties SHOULD indicate it on the lease agreement and warn their tenants.
Today it was very inconvenient to head out the door for work at 5 am to find your vehicle had been towed and not know why. I don’t think it is fair for us to have to pay for something we weren’t fully aware of even if it is an agreement between the HOA and the homeowner. HOA should be sending monthly notices or reminders and so should the landlord. $ 352 is a lot of money and I strongly feel that because we weren’t properly made aware of this that the landlord should absorb the cost.
Ok, I’m over it now…

I met with my sister and her bf yesterday to take a look at a town house here at Escala Mission Valley. The property is beautiful, quaint, and looks well kept. Compliments to the maintenance people.
However, the viewing experience was a little … okay, a lot, off. Not only was the property manager 15 – 20 minutes late, she opened the door to let us in and that was about all she was capable of.
Like any good prospective tenants my sister and her bf asked all the right questions. When will it be ready for move in? Will this carpet be replaced before move in (it was nasty)? What utilities are paid for/​which ones do we need to pay for?
Her responses… «Uhm, I think the beginning of the month», «I don’t know, we’ll see», and «I have no idea».
UHHH? We were a little shocked that she was so glaringly clueless about a property that she was trying to rent out! If they would have actually liked the townhouse (it was too dark, ugly carpet, smaller comparably, etc) then it would have mattered more… but for professionalism sake perhaps they should require a little more from their property managers.

Living in ESCALA Mission Valley for about 2 years now I have obyed all of the (CC&Rs) which the assistant general Manager could not define for me when asked what that mean. I will get into that later. I have never written anykind of review online nor done any forums until I have realized that the digital age has been upon us for sometime now and I am finally being forced to use it:(
Living in the complex is amazing however they are nazi’s for just about everything. Ie: Parking, noise, putting speedbumps everywhere and charging outrageous amounts for HOA fees. Where does the money go? The basis for my post is based upon several experiences with the HOA ASSistant idiot Mary Peterson that works only daytime hours and some saturdays in which nobody is home because most all of the complex is full of yuppies working on their careers.
1^st interaction– I bought a new dryer with a different size hose that did not fit my current pipe so I needed to turn off the gas. I went up there and politely asked how to turn it off, or if it has to been done by someone?
Mary’s Reply: Im not sure how you do that why would you want to do that? (the lady behind me had a similar question regarding the gas line) She asked what day are u available?
My reply: I work everyday except for Saturday…
Marys Reply: Let me look into that, your availability is horrible Im hardly ever here to handle those type of things on a Saturday!
She then gets on the phone staring me down and calls someone and says on the phone to them, «I have some guy up here in the office he needs to turn the gas off»
the gentleman on the phone said I cant do it on saturday it will have to be another day!
She ended up giving me the phone to GOD knows who? i ended up asking my nieghbor and they showed me.
This expierence was awful! I work at a 5 Star facilitly and get paid very little to be courteous and perfect to every guests Im sure that she makes well over what I make and is rude because she choose to be the head of the Complaint department. Why would she be so mean to her guest that pay her salary?
Scenario 2– i was in my garage working on a project when my nieghbor an old alcholic with no friends or visitors ever didnt like what I was doing proceeded to video tape me and my father without our permission.(maybe some kind of Voyer?) anyways he proceeded to film me and turn the video into MARY Peterson. I recieved a letter that I was washing my car and your not allowed to. I was not washing my car I was replacing a blown out shock.
Before not beating my nieghbors geriatric ass I asked her what the rules are she explained that you cannot do car repairs in your garage that you own??? If she was to look around after everyone is home after work she would see numerous nieghbors working on thier sports cars, motorcycles including my nieghbor with a ceramics workshop in his garage. I proceeded to tell her about all this and she replied thats too bad you got caught I am not going to go beyond my job and look into this after hours? Is she salaried why does she not randomly check into things when people are actually home?
I have never met a person as rude and mean as MARY PETERSON. I mean she called me «GUY» not sir and did nothing for me.
Another scenario: I ride a motorcycle and worked the 2am-​103am shift in which I would leave around 1am so the complex has a button to press to exit when your car or bike doesnt register to open the gate. I asked her to look into it:)
She replied, «well this is the first I have heard of this? Why would you ride your bike on the sidewalk to leave?
My Reply: because the button doesnt work? I thought I alread said this?
Long story short whats with the attitude? I just asked to polietly use the HOA money I have been sending you to replace a plastic button or whatever it takes.
To end this nightmare of person I hope that someone else has had similar experiences with this vile human being.
Why would you take a job in customer service if you despise interacting with people?
BTW Perla the assistant is amazing and should be the Assistant GM not Mary Peterson.
