This is not a Farmer’s Market.
Its ten food stands that normally congregate at the county’s markets, in particular the Hillcrest offering.
Located directly east of the ARC on the north side of the campus library.
Not what you expected. Horrible Parking.

There are so many delicious and different cuisines to choose from at this farmers market on SDSU’s campus. The sheer volume of eating establishments here far surpasses the quality of restaurants available everyday in the dining commons. You have to try Flavors of East Africa and the other ethnic cuisines available on Thursdays.

The Farmer’s Market is okay, but this review is for the The Bike Stand
I came by today to have my bike looked at, and what a joke. I was treated with disrespect and really I could not understand why, seriously. Allow me to recap the interaction when I stopped on my bike.
Me: Hey guys what’s up? What do you guys got going on over here?
Guy 1: (Looks around acting as if he didn’t hear me)
Me: Umm… What do you guys got going on over here?
Guy 1: Oh, its just this bike community thing.
Me: A bike community thing?
Guy 1: Yeah.
Guy 2: (Finishes checking someone else’s tire to see if they were rotating smoothly and making sure their bike rim wasn’t bent. Then turns to me and says:) We fixed peoples bike problems. I’ve been doing it for 10 years, self-​taught; just watching youtube videos and stuff.
Me: Okay cool. Do you mind looking at mine to see if its tuned up okay?
Guy 2: (Without touching or even examining my bike components he glanced at my bike, glanced at me, glanced again at my bike) Your bike looks good and ready to go.
Me: How do you know?
Guy 2: Um. Look, you got your phone holder on your handle bar, your wheels are attached, you got your rear rack set up…
Me: You forgot to mention I’m missing my front dérailleur.
Guy 2: Oh god haha, I completely missed that!
Me: It’s okay, I can see that you guys are very busy. Have a good day.
I came over to have my bike examined, to see if my brakes were okay. I would’ve liked to know if my bike was in good condition or if I could fix something if my bike wasn’t in safe riding condition. Instead, I met two jack asses.

I wish Unilocal had a way to list seasonal hours. They don’t so I’m noting it here: This market is only open during the school year. Don’t try to swing by over the summer, or you will be very disappointed.
When the market is open, it isn’t really a farmer’s market so much as collection of food stands. There’s no produce or milk or eggs or handmade goods or anything you might expect to buy from a farm. Just tacos and thai food and the like. Not necessarily a bad thing, but adjust your expectations accordingly. This is a college campus.
The food stands are ones I’ve seen at other farmer’s markets around town or at local festivals. I think the food is overpriced for what you get, but clearly other people don’t feel the same. Okay. Enjoy!

Came on campus the other day to check out the farmers market and it was pretty awesome. They host it right next to the library so if you’re trying to find it just look for the library and then you’ll see it.
It isn’t very big which is partly a turn off. Although, they do have a wide variety of food, Asian, African and much more. At certain times it can get crowded so try your best to go on off times when students are still in classes. This makes it easier to get your food without waiting in hectic lines.
Prices are fair, it’s a little more expensive than normal because you’re on the school campus, I’m guessing they pay the school to be there so it is reflected a bit in the price. If you’re in the area or a student at State I’d suggest getting some food here it is pretty delicious.

I’ve been coming to the SDSU farmers market for the past 3 years as a student of the school and I absolutley LOVE it. I look forward to Thursdays and get lunch there every week. They have a huge variety ranging from Mexican to Thai to African to Asian. I have tried many of the different vendors and love Olive Oil Café, Tase of East Africa, Lemongrass and Jwok.
They recently took out one of my favorite stands which was the hummus stand but that’s probably because the students just sampled the food and didn’t buy anything.
Overall, great food and great atmosphere. I look forward to coming every Thursday.

Alright people, let’s set things straight. This is not a «farmers market». The closest thing to a farmer is the guy that sells mango in a cup. At best, it’s a one day a week traveling food court. So 1 star as a farmers market, would’ve rated 3 – 4 stars though if traveling food court was a thing.

The food options they have here are pretty good. I’ve tried the thai food, olive oil, fruit stand, sambosas from taste of east Africa, kettle corn the empanadas place and the tacos. Im sad they dont have the hummus stand anymore:(

The SDSU farmers market is great for students trying to get a quick bite on campus and that is about it. The quality of the food is far superior to the restaurants offered on campus. This farmers market isn’t your traditional market because almost no fruits and vegetables are offered here.
My personal favorite is jwok, the Thai food.

Love that they have this here on campus. It’s every Thursday and vendors start setting up around 9:30 — 10:30. They have tons of food options if you’re tired of eating at East and West Commons during the week. Thai, African, BBQ, Brazilian, Mexican, Paleo Diet, Gluten free, crepes, fresh guacamole, etc. Just today I saw that Baked Bear (ice cream sandwiches made with cookies they bake) and J Wok (they’re main location is in Gaslamp on Market St.)
Not only do they have food but they also have other vendors from time to time. Currently I’ve only seen a tent that sells vinyl records, but I’ve seen other booths in previous semesters.
Definitely check it out. Some places are cash only, but there are major bank ATMs closeby at East Commons. I think most of the food booths start closing down around 2.

I had the East African food. Not too bad. lil too bland for me and a ton of oil. I went to Public health admin class after and literally 10 minutes after I had to run to the bathroom. I think I missed 20 minutes of lecture, which I guess saved me from stabbing my eyes out. It was 8 bucks and they only take cash.

Love the SDSU Farmer’s market! Comes with many venues and good places to try. Also includes people who will fix your bike :)
My favorites include the Mexican street food, like elote and mango!
Also a new addition is a Brazilian food place with desserts, snacks, and THE BEST ACAI BOWL IVE EVER TRIED! You have to try this place! Their acai is potent and not all smoothie feelin. It’s 6 bucks.
I dislike how pricey the food is, for exams the Thai place is pad Thai is so pricey and they only have a select few Thai foods. Wish they had pad see ew (I think I spelled that wrong)
Anyways this is a great place to try new things! Open once a week.
P. s. Don’t get any boba drinks here, they aren’t good at all coming from me a boba fanatic!

This is a great market with many different food options for the College Area community. While there aren’t many farmers present, students are looking for new food options at a decent price, which is why this market is so successful. The information booths and free water a great, and the craft booths can be a treat. This is one of my favorite markets in the county.

One of my favorite reasons for going to class on a Thursday.
I love the FM because it offers more options for food rather than the bland choices we have on campus (i.e. Panda Express, Rubios, Tacobell, etc.), I know that there are more options to eat off campus, but I’m WAY too lazy to walk all the way over there and I don’t wanna lose my parking spot in PS4… Lol.
Anyways I have tried nearly every tent here; my favorites consist of the Olive Oil Café sandwiches and soups, the pad thai from J Wok and Lemon Grass, and the jerk fries from whatever that one is… I forget. The food is tasty and makes me want seconds at times…
However, I took off 2 stars because not all of the places take CC. Come on now, we’re college students, don’t expect us to have cash. The last star I took off because I think we need a little more variety. It wouldn’t hurt to add another new tent or so.

This is the most overrated farmer’s market. In my opinion it shouldn’t even be called a farmer’s market as there is absolutely no produce sold. It is just food vendors who come on campus on Thursdays to sell overpriced food.
If you want to experience a REAL farmer’s market go to Little Italy on Saturdays or Hillcrest on Sundays. And if you want food during school hours just go the thai place right next to Jack-​in-​the-​Box for $ 5.40 pad Thai. This is just another extension on the overpriced and bland food sold at SDSU.

Thank goodness most places take card now. Some stands still are cash only, like j. wok, which is inconvenient most times for a broke college student. There’s a good variety of food stands. There’s Indian, Thai, East African, Mexican to mention a few. There’s even a bike repair stand.
This farmer’s market, in it’s early days, had stands who’d sell organic veggies and fruits. They’d always have great deals and more than likely would throw in an extra onion or basket of tomatoes. I miss that.

Oh, bah, am I the only one here who finds this Farmer’s Market overrated? Probably. When I first started working here at SDSU, I was thrilled that there was a Farmer’s Market every Thursday. It wasn’t until the months wore on I started to realize that all the vendors were the same, almost all the food is overpriced, and it wasn’t worth standing in line to get it. Plus, almost ALL these vendors are lurking in other farmer’s markets around the San Diego area, so it’s not like I can’t get their food if I’m really desperately craving some North African dish or Mexican burrito.
Now that I think about it, this isn’t even an actual farmer’s market! In most farmer’s markets I’ve been to, there is always loads of produce and baked goods for sale in addition to handmade knicknacks. I find none of that here. Not saying that SDSU students should buy a bushel of apples on their way to class, but what’s the point of calling this a farmer’s market when in actuality, it’s a food vendor fair? And while I hate my alma mater (if you’re curious what school I went to, I suggest you read some of my previous reviews), at least the farmer’s market they had was an actual farmer’s market, in which we got to taste samples of pears and blood oranges.
I will say this: a lot of the food is much more exotic and perhaps tastier than what’s being served up in the food court. However, given that most of the food is $ 7-​$ 11, I’m not too keen on eating something and spending that kind of money unless I’m actually dining somewhere other than the SDSU lawn with all the other kids.
About 1 – 3 times a semester I will go here to eat. It’s really not that bad and sometimes it’s nice than eating my plain turkey sandwich or soup from West Commons. But for something that comes every week and is pretty ubiquitous in the SD area, it’s kinda lost its novelty for me. However, I gotta love that these Thursday vendors allow me to eat and not stand in line at the food court! That’s always a plus on my book!

All I gotta say is BBQ Parfait! Seriously good stuff. $ 7 for the water cup full of mashed potatoes, beans, pulled pork, slaw, and bbq sauce and and iced tea. Probably the best deal at the farmer’s market. Forget the name of stand, but it’s the only bbq one around. Get it while you can.
Oh, yeah. One more thing. This is no more of a farmer’s market than the Del Mar Fair. There is not a farmer to be found. It’s just a bunch of cool people selling $ 6-​$ 10 food items. Don’t come expecting to go away with bags of produce.
The only reason that I’m not giving it 5 stars is for the price. I think a vendor with $ 4 banh mis would make a killing here. All the other sandwiches are in the $ 7-​$ 8 range. That’s a little expensive for a college campus. $ 2 street tacos and bacon-​wrapped hot dogs would be welcome additions. Just saying.
THURSDAYS –LUNCH ONLY.

The SDSU Farmers Market is AMAZING :) It’s the ONLY reason I schedule my classes for Tuesdays and Thursdays. There is a wide variety of foods, from african, asian, mexican, french, thai, etc. My all time favorite is Olive Oil, a small sandwich shop in Imperial Beach, i believe. I have had the vegetarian sandwich (yummy! if you like eggplant), greek chicken, green goddess, and cali love. They have awesome desserts also.
There is a stand that sells awesome kettle corn and BOMB strawberry lemonade. The thai tea, boba, and food in general from J wok is better than the other asian place (lemongrass). I only had the Mexican place twice, and wasn’t THAT impressed. I think Trujillo’s has better burritos.
There is also a cute stand that sells handmade journals, perfect for the avid traveller who loves to document their trips in unique journals.
A NEW ADDITION to the farmers market is a live chef demonstration that SDSU CASE organizes. The head chef of SDSU catering and food services comes out and demonstrates a new cooking technique every Thursday. From the snippets I’ve heard, he seems really personable and educational. Last time I stopped by, he was demonstrating various techniques on smoking meats and how you can smoke at home!
Overall, I think this farmers market brings a lot of unique charm to our campus. It also showcases how SDSU supports local businesses and encourages environmentally friendly practices.

Every Thursday on the SDSU campus, there is a farmer’s market from 10AM to 2PM. It’s the highlight of my week!
There’s Asian, African, Jamaican, Mexican… handmade crafts like jewelry, purses, etc. There’s also this great fruit stand that sells fresh cut fruits that you can order with chili! Also, there’s organic fresh fruits and vegetables, a stand that just sells hummus, a cheesecake stand, vegan stands. you name it, they got it!
It’s a great way for students to eat something fresh and real. rather than the fast food places located on campus. The variety at this farmer’s market is great.
