SDG& E Energy Innovation Center

I really enjoyed my visit. It’s a great resource for the community to learn on the latest of energy and environmental technologies. I am glad SDG&E has a center for the community to go to.
When you drive into the parking lot it’s the nicest building there. They have solar panels and electric car hook ups in the parking lot.
The building is gorgeous. They have multiple meeting rooms throughout the building. If you are there then walk around. There is a succulent wall in the courtyard which shows if you have limited space and can’t plant on the ground then you can plant vertically. There’s a demonstration garden. One of the staff saw us browsing and spoke to us about the garden. Even with limited space you can be efficient with the space given and create a garden of your own. Check out the energy saving displays as well. Very informative.
The majority of the original building was reused and recycled. The building is LEED certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Great to walk in if you are in the area to learn more on ways you can save energy and help the environment.

SDGE has really improved this shopping center and taken over what for years looked to be an abandoned indoor swap meet. Replaced by front passing by street a lot filled with solar tree’s.
If you venture past the parking lot and walk through the doors you will find a building built for education on green building and living which is accessible to the public with interactive displays and classes that are free to SDGE customers if you make a reservation online.
Two thumbs up to SDGE for providing a publicly accessible LEED platinum building that’s main goal is to educate anyone interested.
So if you are passing by pop in and check out what green building is in person!
