Satin Scissors of Pt Loma & Ocean Beach

I had a terrible experience today at Satin Scissors, I’ve been bringing my dog here for close to 10 years and I always liked their work (my dog is a maltese) as I was waiting to pick up my dog another dog started barking
and out of the blue someone threw what appeared to be a brush at the cage of the barking dog, believe me the dog wasn’t barking that much. of course the dog stopped wow they just lost a customer.

I tried to call to make an appointment, and they said NO. Apparently my 60 lb dog is too big for them, and would take too much time and effort.

This place may have 4 stars guys, BUT PLEASE LOOK HARD AT THESE REVIEWS. most of the 5 star reviews are YEARS OLD! the place has changed… and no longer deserves a 4 star rating!!!
We Took our dogs here for YEARS! when they still had SAL (The guy everyone is raving about on here.) A few months ago, Sal disappeared, and the customer service here went straight into the garbage can. The new woman who runs the place is rude, impatient and cold.
Sal would hold our dogs all day so we could drop them off in the morning, go to work, and come back and pick them up after. New girl wont even consider having them another HOUR than necessary. (literally if you got a call and took longer than an hour to get there… shell call a ton more until you get there)
Sal used to take into account what kind of haircut we wanted, new girl doesnt give a flying fig. Told her so many times how i wanted my dog cut… NEVER HAPPENED
Sal was the saving grace of this Joint… Just look at the reviews. Now that hes not there… its pure trash… DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! save yourself some headaches and trouble

After recently aquiring a new dog, we were referred to Janine at Satin Scissors in Point Loma, San Diego, CA. Janine is incredidibly nice and takes the time to really care for our dog. In the past at other groomers, the dogs would always be terrified to go and even more shaken up after getting home. That is not the case here. Our dog actually gets excited when we pull up to drop him off to get groomed! Janine welcomes him with open arms and with a big smile! Janine is very knowledgeable and always recommends what is in our dog’s best interest. Satin Scissors is amazingly decorated and the animals are groomed in sight. Janine is very talented in grooming dogs. I have seen the work of other groomers far to often and Janine’s talents are second to none! When we go to pick up the dog at the end of the day he never wants to leave! Satin Scissors has become almost like a second home for him! He loves it there and we couldn’t be any happier with the level of superior service we receive from Satin Scissors! Now we know why we were referrred to Janine. Satin Scissors is by far the best groomer in San Diego in my opinion. I would recommend Janine and her business to anyone, even my family. Thank you so much Janine for always making Nicki look soo great and for ensuring that he always comes home happier than when he left, always looking great! We look forward (and Nicki too!) to many more visits to Satin Scissors. Thank you Janine and the staff at Satin Scissors for the great service!

My dog, Bridget loves her day at Satin Scissors! The groomers are caring, attentive, and do an excellent job grooming. I have been a client for over 17 years with my two dogs. The atmosphere is always clean, cozy, and charming. I always love the holidays when the salon is decorated in such a festive manner. When the flu season hit recently, Janine was very ill and notified me first thing in the morning that she was ill and would have to reschedule, which she did. Janine was very eager to see Bridget as soon she could , that is how attentive she is!
I have recommended S. S to friends and could.‘t be more satisfied.

If you don’t want to deal with rudeness, I suggest you don’t take your dog here. I’ve brought my dog here for the past 6 years and always had a pleasant experience with Sal. Unfortunately, they are not the same anymore. First, they got rid of the amazing, caring, bubbly, groomer Sal. It used to be very warm and friendly every time we walked in there. Even my dog used to run through the door excited to see him! Not so much anymore… Second, I could usually get in the next week if my dog was really needing it. Now it’s about 2 – 3 weeks. If you’re new and looking for a groomer, forget it. You will be turned down. Last but not least, I had my appointment scheduled for 3 weeks out this past time, went to the salon, and there was a note on the door saying they were CLOSED. No phone call from anyone to even let me know. NEVER have I experienced having an appointment, to show up and see a sign on a door saying «sorry we’re closed today.» I found that to be extremely inconsiderate. I left a message that I would need to get my dog in as soon as possible and that it would have been nice to get a phone call ahead of time. When I called back the next day to see if they were open again, the owner was even more rude and said she just wasn’t going to take my dog anymore because I WAS INCONSIDERATE. Unbelievable. I’ve brought my business there for the past 6 years. Seems very unappreciated. That’s besides the fact that the all around service sucks now…

Janeen and her staff are amazing. So kind and patient with my dog who is blind. The grooming is exceptional, the facility is clean and my pooch always look great after a day Satin Scissors. Highly recommend.

Stopped in here as a newbie to Point Loma and the owner told me they were too busy and «not accepting any more standard poodles.» Ever? Hmm. Well hooray for you that you are so busy. Nice to see some businesses can still be snobby AND «successful.» I will bring my two standard poodles elsewhere.

I am so grateful a neighbor referred me to Satin Scissors about seven years ago. I take my little white mixed breed there and I feel like I am visiting a friend. Janine clearly loves her work, cares about the clients, both four legged and the two legged ones and really makes it a positive experience for all involved.
I have tried a number of groomers in the area and this is a different experience. I really get a sense of caring about the work they do there and I recommend them without reservation.

This groomer is AWESOME!!! My dog is not the easiest to groom and they did a terrific job. The groomer really listened to my when describing how I wanted my dog to look. I was so pleased with the way he looked when I picked him up.
They also are very flexible as to when you are able to pick up and drop off. I have a scheduling conflict come up and they were very understanding and were able to work around my schedule.
The icing on the cake was when I received a hand-​written thank you note in the mail just a week after first taking my dog in for grooming. This personal touch meant a lot to me and I completely trust them with my dog. I will never go anywhere else to get my dog groomed.

I love Satin Scissors! Janine always takes such good care of my yorkie mix who was a rescue. This is the most inviting dog grooming place I’ve ever been to. When you walk into the establishment, it is like walking into a second home – always so nicely decorated, furniture to sit, clean, and smells like a well kept home. They are always very nice to deal with both Janine and Sal. I would highly recommend Satin Scissors for your pet’s grooming needs.

Satin Scissors is the best! Sal is so good and my dog loves him. She always looks fantastic after her appointment. I recommend SS to everyone.

I called this place today and asked if they would groom my little yorkie who has a short cut, and they literally told me that they don’t take yorkies and that my dog wasn’t good enough for them! like my money isn’t green. This place is horrible and i would never take my dog her now they they turned her away. I have never heard of someone turning away good business.

Sal has been grooming Chuie and Daisy for over 12 years. He is the best in town and we love him. He is our Unka Sal and he knows his stuff. I have referred other folks to him and they are all still clients and love him much! Heart Satin Scissors. You can’t go wrong with this groomer.

I am SO happy that I found Satin Scissors. I had been taking my now 6 month old maltese to get «puppy cuts» at a day camp but was very unsatisfied with the results. When I moved into a new neighborhood in Point Loma we passed by S.S. and decided to give it a shot. VERY happy we did.
She really listed to me when I was explaining how I wanted him to look and was even able to correct some the horribleness my previous «groomer» left behind! When I pick my puppy up from the groomer now, he is happy and NOT traumatized like he was before. It’s very obvious that she takes her time and my pup looks great when he’s done!

We’ve been taking our dog Charlie to these folks for a little over 7 years now, and they really take care of our little guy, and take their time making sure he is comfortable and he looks great when they finish.
Good people, good place and as they were referred to me, and I refer them to anyone who needs a good groomer.

Love, Love, love, love them at Satin Scissors. The place is clean and super cute and the staff is so nice. My dog leaves in a good mood and not totally tramatized like she did when leaving another place.

Sal and Janine are terrific!!! They love what they do and you can tell!
