Sweet Sara did such a great job altering my dress, esp. since the top part of my dress was sheer. Loved worked with her!

And yes folks, I am one of the unlucky ones to give a non stellar review. I called to inquire about her services but her answers were very curt as I was quickly turned down. Very rude and unprofessional but when I mentioned I saw her info on Unilocal,her demeanor quickly changed and as she quickly apologized. I understand if she’s too busy or overwhelmed with business — which is a plus but hey let’s be courteous for your future clienteles as well. And so I move on to the next listing…

I can’t emphasize enough– this should be your wedding dress tailor! I bought my «perfect» wedding dress online and when it came I was horribly disappointed with it. Luckily I went to Sara’s ten weeks out and she deconstructed my dress and it looks better now on me than it does on the online model. She’s brilliant. She made my changes and recommended her own. I’m incredibly happy with her and my dress.

Sara has amazing attention to detail and she’s also no nonsense and straightforward. I had to listen to her deal with a bride-​to-​be ask her to make her dress back line lower, and Sara straight up said «that’s not what this dress was meant to do.» Her prices are the same as other alterations place but her turn around time is so quick. Looking forward to dropping off more things for her to fix for me!

Sara is a very talented tailor! She transformed my wedding dress, sister’s bridesmaid dress and mother of the bride dress. It took about 5 – 6 fittings for each of us but it was well worth it. She is very detail oriented, welcoming, sweet, and good at what she does. She is also very affordable.

Sara is excellent at what she does and just the sweetest! She did some minor alterations on my wedding dress and made it absolutely perfect. Her prices are super reasonable as well. I took one star off my rating because I went to pick up my dress on our scheduled pick up date, and it was clear that she’d forgotten about it. So I had to come back again — it was only two days later, so that wasn’t too bad.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t lucky enough to have the wonderful Sara alter my dress as she turned me down. I received a bridesmaid dress much later than I would’ve liked leaving me only about 12 days to have it altered. I thought that might be pushing it a little but was hoping it would still be manageable by someone so praised for her quick work in an emergency. I was quickly turned down… she wasn’t very welcoming.

Sara was AMAZING! I had a complex wedding dress with a lace overlay that was clearly larger than the fabric underneath, and she took the time to not only size the fabric underneath, but to take apart the lace and re-​fit it so it was perfect. She had my dress ready the week before my wedding, and I had my first fitting four weeks before my wedding. She is so sweet and was so easy to work with, and I will be taking other clothes to her to be fitted!

My daughter needed her wedding gown altered and Sara did a great job! She also was able to finish it quickly — before my daughter moved to the NW. And a friend wanted a bridesmaid dress altered and decided to come with us to Sara’s. She had gone to another tailor, but when she was trying to tell this other tailor what she wanted, the woman actually swatted her hand away and told my friend that no alterations were needed. So when my friend brought her dress to Sara’s, she was so pleased that Sara knew exactly what needed to be done and did a great and quick job.

I brought my wedding dress to Sara just one month before my wedding. All it needed was a hem, but it was all lace and I was nervous about it looking as good as it originally did. She did an amazing job and did it quickly. I appreciated that when I went in for a final fitting, she recognized me and knew which dress was mine. And to top it off, she was sweet as can be. Thanks Sara!

Sara is amazing! I have been coming to Sara for a couple of years, I have brought her almost everything in my closet. Each and every time it has been perfect. Clothes I have not worn in years… beautiful again that fit perfectly. She is nice, sweet, beautiful person who knows her job like no other. I have recommended her to friends who were very satisfied. Sara’s work is impeccable… her shop is modest but clean. I’ve had Sara work on every-​day– maxi dresses, to high-​end gowns and I always leave happy and my clothes fitting perfect. She has a good turn around time and I don’t ever have to worry about her «getting it right!»

While searching for a place to take my wedding dress to be altered before the big day, I stumbled across Sara’s Tailor Shop & all of her excellent reviews caught my eye. I dropped off my dress on a Friday & she told me it would be ready by the next Saturday which fit perfectly with my schedule. When I went to pick up my dress & tried it on, it brought tears to my eyes because it fit me like a glove & looked amazing. Not only is Sara amazing at what she does, but she has such a lovely personality & was so welcoming & gracious.

I have literally spent years of my life in search of a tailor who has the skill to do more than cut and sew fabric. NO ONE has been able to deliver like Sara has. I’ve spent four years in the Marine Corps (with uniform inspections that are notoriously meticulous) and been to numerous tailors on the West coast. I’ve been to uniform shops, high-​end alterations shops in expensive parts of town, and even tried my hand at altering my own clothing. NOTHING. COMES. CLOSE.
I wish I could say that I’m a man who exaggerates much, but I’m not. When I write these words, it’s because Sara has gone above and beyond and has an eye for this type of work. As I said before, anyone can cut and sew fabric much like anyone can pick up a camera and call themselves a photographer. The difference, however, is in the art. The ability to acquire that unique artistic viewpoint to see the human body and adorn the clothing you bring in around your particular figure is an art form that is lost on the big box world we live in today. Sara is one of the last of a generation of tailors who could wrap the most complicated, ill-​fitting piece of oversized cloth around your body and it would appear afterward as though it came from a high-​end retailer.
Thrilled by my newly perfectly tailored button-​up casual and dress shirts, I remarked to Sara, «Well, now I’d better not gain any more weight or muscle!» She smartly fired back with a smile, «Oh no, I’ll just let it out more if you do!» I checked, and she didn’t just cut the excess fabric off of the shirt. Sara planned ahead and sewed some excess into the design of the shirt, in case I did like I should and hit the gym more than usual over the coming year.
Sara’s a sweetheart of a woman and stays busy in her humble shop, located on the second floor of a small strip mall, overlooking Clairemont Dr., just north of Balboa Ave.
Despite 50 years in the trade of sewing and alterations, she says she’s still passionate about it. She enjoys her career and you’d be hard-​pressed to give her a job she couldn’t handle. As I told her today, «You’d better never retire!»

My review is WAY overdue. Sara is amazing at what she does. I’ve used her for simple things like a spaghetti strap fix on a cocktail dress, to major things like an emergency alteration to take in my wedding dress TWO days before I was supposed to leave. She’s talented, personable and a rockstar at what she does! I won’t even attempt to fix things myself now. I’ll just take it to Sara. And now my niece does the same!

Sara has become my dearest friend! I love this woman! I live up in north county and it takes me on a good day 40 – 45 minutes to get there. She is soooo worth it! This is the only place I will ever go! I have known Sara now for 25 years! She has been doing my alterations since we moved here in 1990. She has taken out, taken in, re-​created items for me and anything else that I would bring to her for something that no one else would even be able to know what to do with it ! You name it and Sara does it! She is the BEST and so creative! You won’t find anyone like her! I highly recommend Sara’s Tailor Shop for all your alteration needs! Love you Sara!

Well let’s see… I have been coming here since I was a little kid with my mom, Sara is like family to me. She has always done a terrific job with all of my items that I have brought her. Every time I walk in I am greeted with a smile and she always asks how I have been and what is new in my life.
I live up in north county so for me to get down here on a good day takes no less that 40 minutes, but I just won’t go anywhere else. I don’t trust anyone as much as I do her!!! If you need something small like a pant hem or something big like a wedding dress alteration I would HIGHLY recommend Sara’s Tailor Shop!!!

When you think of Cinderella & how everything fit her perfectly… that’s what Sara’s done for my closet.
I’ve been going to Sara for 10+ years, and she’s everything you’d want in a tailor. Efficient, friendly, creative, reasonably priced, prompt, & just overall a wonderful person to go to for all your sewing needs.
I’ve brought in things that were double my size & she’s made them fit like a glove. I’ve brought in pictures of things I liked but couldn’t find in stores, & she’s designed them herself. There’s no job too big or too small, and I wish I could give more than 5 stars!
Everything from hemming, to dress alterations, to entire outfit reconstructions, she does it all! Hands down one of the best tailors in San Diego!
The only tip I’d give to new customers is be reasonable-don’t expect alterations to be done instantly, especially if it’s a complicated job. Too many times I’ve come into her shop to see other customers barraging her with unreasonable requests (like, bead me a whole wedding dress by next week).
If you have something special that you want altered/​designed/​etc, make the time in your schedule for it to be done. That’s not to say she can’t do last minute jobs (she’s quite skilled at those too when you’re in a jam), but it’s better for everyone involved if there’s time for fittings & other fixings before your big event.

Sara’s business exemplifies the friendly, personal service of a small hometown shop. She is talented, professional and trustworthy. I have full confidence in her skills & expert advise. Plus, you couldn’t ask for a nicer, friendly person. I rely on her judgement to make the necessary alterations for a most flattering fit.
Sara was forthcoming in telling me which articles are worth altering & which weren’t. I find that quality truly refreshing in this day & age where most proprietors would never turn any business even if the results are less than desirable. Sara seems more interested in providing quality service & long term customers.
I trust Sara with my finest, designer wear as well as more casual day wear. Her prices are more than fair given the quality of her work & the turnaround is timely. Obviously, I highly recommend Sara’s Tailor Shop. It’s a pleasure to work with her.
