I don’t usually write Unilocal reviews but Rafael and his team have done an impeccable job fixing the damage from a broken pipe across two stories (bathroom and kitchen).
I have known Rafael for 6 years now and he personally took the time to come and inspect the damage the same day I called. This was the first water damage incident I have been through and Rafael took the time to thoroughly explain the entire process with the homeowners insurance company, the demolition, the contractors etc.
His team was on-​site the very next day and started a full de-​humidifying and restoration process which was completed within a few days. The team members are very professional — they explain the things they are doing and why they are doing it, fully explain all the necessary paperwork (which isn’t much) and they are prompt and courteous.
This is exactly how all businesses need to be run. We need to figure out how to clone Rafael so he can lead other businesses to excellence in customer satisfaction.

I had major damage to my first floor, and Rafael and his team were tops. Professional, great pricing and extremely thorough. Checked up on things during the entire course of the mold remediation. A very dark month of my life due to the damage and chaos, but they certainly helped ease the pain. Would recommend them anytime.

Great job. We had water damage due to a broken ice maker water line. The water ran through the floor and exited into the downstairs. The crew was very aware of our needs as far as keeping things clean during the demo. They did what they told us they were going to do and on time. Very professional.

Throughout the process Carlos did an excellent job of not only communicating with me on the work being done, but advising on next steps in the process. Too many times my contact with our contracted services is less than pleasant by the time issues are escalated to me for resolution. It is a pleasant change to be able to acknowledge work well done.

I called San Diego Water Service when I noticed my laminate floors bowing. I spoke with Rafael and he sent Mark out right away even though it was a Friday afternoon. Mark found the leak had come from my upstairs laundry room. Mark was extremely helpful and thorough. He noticed from the pictures on the walls, that I had young children and he was conscious that it was safe for my kids to be around. He came up with a creative way to place the containment so as not to to cut off our family room and kitchen. I highly recommend Mark as he was very pro-​active. He called my insurance and spoke with the agent so they were on the same page. For some unknown reason„ my air conditioner also decided to malfunction and leak water in my bedroom ceiling right after Mark left my home one late afternoon. I called him and he turned right around and contained that leak. Then, when Samsung came to repair the washer, they re-​flooded the original area plus my family room. This happened at 5pm on a Friday and Mark was back first thing in the morning Saturday to contain and dry out the house. He created a second report for me to send to Samsung as they were responsible for the damage of this leak. It took a long time to get the second report for me to forward to Samsung and some follow up calls from me but also Mark pro-​actively called me to advise they were short handed and the second report would take a while. A few months later as I was dealing with insurance, I called Mark to ask a question and he called me right back. Rafael has been very patient and helpful. He waited as I worked with my homeowners insurance to complete the claim as I had to go back to them several times for additional payments that they originally said were not covered. I highly recommend San Diego Water Damage but hope I don’t need them in the future.

I had a roof leak that went into my wall in the kitchen, my insurance didn’t cover the damage so I ran to Unilocal for help. I am more than satisfied with Rafael and Carlos. They had to tear out part of my wall and ceiling in the kitchen to inspect for mold. I just knew I’d come home to dust being everywhere, boy was I wrong. I came home to no dust at all. They cleaned my dining room table, the floors, and all the counters. Rafael also referred me to a company that tests for mold and a roofer. These guys are very professional and I will be referring them to anybody who may need them.

Rafael and his team were very professional and responded quickly to our call for help. I feel confident that they treated the water damage properly and also conducted asbestos testing for the wall. The fees were reasonable. I would recommend this company!

I am so grateful that I called Rafael, Mark, and the whole crew to help put me at ease during this homeowner’s nightmare. We bought a house in May 2012, after a clean inspection. We were told the plumbing had been redone. Now, 3 years later, it turns out that was a load of crap, literally. We have only recently realized we have been living on top of disgusting sewage (and everything else that’s ever drained) water growing in our crawlspace. I cannot believe I only recently noticed the smell! I am still in the midst of this nightmare, however I must say that Mark and the crew have talked me through what they are working on so that I understand the severity of the situation. They make me feel comfortable in this scary time. They are working round the clock in order to help us get our pipes in working order. I am even getting a discounted plumbing rate, which I am so grateful for, as this is extremely difficult plumbing work. I feel very lucky to have chosen San Diego Water Damage to help us with this shitty situation! Work is not yet complete, but I felt compelled to give a 5 star rating already due to the personable and professional services done thus far.

I had flooding under the crawlspace of my home, and I had a general contractor do the job, which included mold remediation. They didn’t do things right and it took them many weeks to do what should have taken 5 days, and things were still wet. I called San Diego Water Damage (based on a good reference) to verify the work that had been done and to tell me what it would take to get everything dry. They told me that the joists and subfloor were more moist than they should be, and there were areas of dirt that were still moist, and they said things should have been dried out more, but based on our conversations and what they saw, it wasn’t necessary. It was so refreshing to hear this kind of honesty, especially because they had all their drying equipment at my house ready to go. In all, I dealt with three different companies regarding this job, and they seemed the most competent and the most honest. They gave me suggestions of things I could do myself (or they could if I wanted them to), but then added that they probably weren’t necessary because moisture wasnt a recurring issue.
I should have gone with them in the first place, but at least if I have the need again, I will know who to call.
I don’t generally give reviews for companies I didn’t actually use to do work, but these guys impressed me. In an industry that seems to be full of dishonesty and people trying to milk insurance companies, it is great to know there are companies like this one.

Rafael was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He was willing to explain the process of what we needed to do in order to handle our situation with our landlord. His referral to Bill O’Gorman’s Mold Testing Lab is the first step. With out this referral we would be lost.

Rafael and his team were wonderful! I would highly recommend them. I had a leaky pipe in the wall between my washer and master shower that was causing damage in my garage. After I called they came over right away and went to work quickly to resolve the issue. They were always on time and very professional. They gave me the info on a plumber to fix the leaking pipe and their fees were very reasonable. They dealt directly with my insurance and minimized my stress in the process. Hopefully nothing like this will happen again in my house, but if so, I would use them again in a heartbeat!

Rafael and his crew did an amazing job with water remediation– and rebuild– twice! I was so happy with their work (and fair prices) that we were repeat customers. During one of the most stressful and frustrating times (water damage and mold growth) their team was there for us every step of the way! They even fixed others’ shoddy work. And were very timely– finishing our job on Christmas Eve to save our holiday! First rate work and service!

San Diego Water Damage is fantastic! For the second time, my home suffered sudden water damage, this time from a blown toilet, and just before the holidays. These guys had rescued my family before on a prior job, when we initially had used another local company that at the time was recommended by our insurance company (side note: Never go with your insurance co recommend contractors), and the first company (will go unnamed) did a terrible job. That time, we hired SD Water Damage to fix the mistakes and they were extremely friendly, professional, affordable, and did an incredible job. This second time, we started with them from day 1 and they helped us negotiate with the insurance company, came out right away and did a great job with the dry out, and then did the rebuild with incredibly talented craftsman led by there incredibly knowledgeable and friendly production manager. They even worked extra hours, to get the job done literally hours before our family arrived for Xmas eve. Looks better than new!! Quotes were fair and honest. I would strongly recommend this co to anyone in need of water damage remediation or rebuild.

I would recommend Rafael and the crew at San Diego Water Damage above any other business offering the same services. After I called to get a quote, Rafael came over to my house the same day to assess the damage and provided a very reasonable estimate. He was incredibly helpful and worked directly with my insurance company to ensure costs were covered. Larry (the construction manager) oversaw the crew during the entire project and did an exemplary job — very detail oriented and did the job the proper way!
The job: Water leakage under the kitchen sink required asbestos treatment and replacement of drywall. To do this, the crew had to carefully remove granite counter top, granite back splash refrigerator, stove, flooring, dishwasher and then repaint. When the job was completed, everything went back to where it was — without so much as a scratch on it — not an easy job to keep that large granite counter top from breaking on removal so BIG props to the guys!

I am very happy with the service provided by San Diego Water Damage. They came out as soon as I called them, assessed the water damage and got to work on my place right of way. They were professional and walked me through the whole process. I live in a townhouse and there were multiple insurance issues in which Rafael helped me make sure all of this was taken care of. All the guys showed up on time and made sure the whole job was completed as soon as possible. A big thank you to the whole team for the outstanding work.

I was super impressed with these guys. They came through clutch for me! I was towards the end of an escrow on a house and almost lost it due to finding a very small mold issue. I needed help fast!!! Like yesterday! They worked over the weekend, even on a Sunday to get the job done!!! AND they were affordable (I compared prices) and pleasant to work with.
I would give them 6 stars if I could. I told Raphael I would write him a review for his service, and this is months overdue (service was in February,) but was busy remodeling an old house and just remembered how much I owed him.
EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THESE GUYS ARE LEGIT, and if you need any water damage or remediation services, just go with them and save yourself any hassle.

Was really pleased with the services provided. They were punctual, competent and helped with the insurance filing (Twice). In addition, they cleaned up after themselves and used good judgement in deciding what to repair and what needed more repair than originally identified.

Extreme sleepiness + All of upstairs neighbors’ shower water coming down in my bathroom = Excellent assistance despite my major stress and confusion.
In a panic last night, I quickly looked up 24 plumber on Unilocal and these guys came up. Called them, and they sent someone over promptly. Sean was very polite and professional. However, a few minutes into him checking out the situation in my bathroom, my big mistake came to light: What I needed at the moment was a plumber, not so much the water damage services. Huge oops on my part. I feel terrible for having them send someone out in the middle of the night for an error like this.
Despite this, Rafael, who called me back later, was great, very understanding. I explained to him what happened, apologized, and he still offered me tips on HOA matters (which I am now going to have to deal with) and home owners insurance. Very informative.
Even though I did not use them for their intended services, their attentiveness, quick response, courteousness and helpfulness (all despite me making them send someone out in the middle of the night) easily earn them five stars.

We were very pleased with Rafael’s services. They came promptly to inspect and create a bid. The crew leaders were courteous, on time, and we could tell they were experienced at the work that they did. Their equipment dried out the place pronto (but be aware, your electric bill will be big). They removed the damaged material, and cleaned up (they hauled all our trash away INCLUDING an additional HUGE pile of discards/​debris unrelated to their work — bonus!). We also contracted with them for restoration — drywall repair, texturing, paint, porcelain tile install and we were very satisfied with the results — you cannot tell where the repairs were made. They did create a small amt of additional damage in the course of their repairs but they fixed it & made it right for free — what more can you ask for. We would use them again.
