Oh the places you’ll go… Dr. Suess Every year around New Year’s the Travel and Adventure Show arrives in San Diego. It goes to other great cities too… including; San Francisco, Los Angeles, DC, Chicago, Philadelphia and Dallas. I just realized I lived in 3.5 of these cities some point…(if you include the little rock and roll hotel in Studio City)! This expo offers an opportunity to attend presentations by well known speakers in the travel industry, observe cultural performances of dance and music from around the globe and participate in chef cooking demonstrations. One may also enter drawings for free trips(Holland, please), visit booths with plenty of swag and maybe even get a deal on a future vacation. This was our second year attending! If you attend multiple years, you will see many of the same booths, vendors and performance groups. However, there is always a change up of speakers and topics! This year we sat in with Travel Channel Host, Samantha Brown and attended a talk on the 100th Anniversary of the National Parks(this was poorly set up next to the global performance stage and it was difficult to hear the speaker. In addition, the powerpoint photos were blank… the speaker joked and shared that we should use our imagination!) Each year there is NEW swag to be had! This year we picked up pens from China Airlines, a pizza cutter from Buellton, CA, and a drawstring tote from our state Capital! The friendliest booth winner was the State of Oklahoma. The best giveaway was a European River Cruise and the best swag goes to Louisiana for their free creole cookbook and crawfish beads!(Bead are unnecessary for those of us who have already been to New Orleans for Mardi Gras! lol). There are several options for purchasing tickets for one day or two day passes. Prices range from free with a code, to half off with early bookings and full price at the door. Look out for deals and specials. You could pay $ 25 a ticket per day. Last year we spent $ 12 per ticket and this year $ 0. Our highlight last year was meeting Phil Keoghan of the Amazing Race(he is one cool dude) and spends time with people like you have been«lifelong friends». I’m thinking our next trip out of state will be to attend the Oregon UFO Fest… a trip of a lifetime! #Adventure #OklahomaisOK #UFOFest
