San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, Fire Station 4

Battalion 2 needs a reminder not to run code 3 on the freeway and not to cut from the 1 to 4 lane at a rapid rate of speed cutting people off while doing so. Exiting 8E to college at approximate 4pm July 31,2015. You’re on your way to an emergency, don’t make the dumb decision to run crazy on the freeway and cause more harm. Not smart.

This station is centrally located in Gaslamp/​East Village. Thanks firefighters, your job is many times taken for granted until there are emergencies, you are always there! I have passed many times by this station but this Sunday, after attending an event, my friends and I decided to stop as there was a demo for a group of children in how they operate, equipment, showing the facilities, etc. Very cool, and very nice to people like me who do not know much about what is cooking behind the scenes and they were kind enough to show and even let us take fun pics:).

You always take emergency services for granted until you are forced to use them. Before this year, I’ve never had to call 911 for a bona fide emergency. Unfortunately, my wife and I have had to do so twice in the last two months. I had to call once after my wife had a serious post-​pregnancy hemorrhage, and my wife called once when my toddler had a 104.5 degree fever and was unable to get him to the ER herself.
Both times, both the 911 operator and the responding EMTs were courteous, helpful, and best of all, quick. They were on scene in less than 10 minutes each time, and would have been quicker if they didn’t get lost in my maze of a condo complex. The second time, they even carried my wife’s diaper bag and the newborn baby carrier and helped secure them in the ambulance. They treated us each time with sympathy and care.
Thank you heroes of San Diego Fire Station 4! You guys and gals are a class act!
