Very poor customer service. The female customer service rep that picked up my call couldn’t tell me anything — even how long it will take to meet with their field rep to get a cost estimate! Just about every inquiry I have, her answer was «I don’t know». When I finally asked her why she couldn’t tell me anything, she said that she does the accounting for the business. Why did she picked up my call then? In addition, she was very rude from the start of our conversation until the end. She should NOT pick up any calls as she doesn’t have any customer service skills at all. This experience tells me to have the work done by other fence company who will treat the customers the right way. I CANNOT and WILL NOT RECOMMEND this company to anybody if my experience today is a representation of how San Diego Fence Company does its business. Can you imagine how you will be treated if you hired them to do the work and you have some issues? Because of this experience, I wouldn’t take my chances with this company.

No longer there. Apparently they tried to update their Unilocal info, but … Phone number still good, but they are in Santee. Rep said they only do installs now, no more supplies, so DIY and contractors need to look elsewhere. Dixieline order the parts I needed so that was okay. Not as easy as it was with SD Fence when I needed custom gate or fence supplies. Oh well.

My husband and I live on a small farm in North County San Diego, and while the property is charming, the busy road is not! So we decided that a corrugated tin fence with wooden framing would work well with the style of our home, yet still offer privacy, protection, and the automatic gate we always wanted. After meeting with four fencing companies, we felt that Rob (head of sales) knew what we wanted and could work with our ideas and budget. Just over a month later, his team began the work. I was especially impressed by how clean and tidy they kept their workspace and how polite and professional the crew was during the 10-​day project. If available, be sure to request Adolfo (a master handyman) and Kevin, who knows all the ins and outs of electrical engineering and installation of large gates. We absolutely LOVE our fence and constantly have people stopping to check it out. They had a slight slope to work around, and some of our specific requests they’ve never had to deal with before, but they did a great job and delivered a beautiful product. It’s unique and exactly what we wanted. I would highly recommend them. The photos speak for themselves!

They came out to my house for a driveway gate estimate. He told me to give him a few days before he will email me and estimate because he was busy. I’m still waiting and it been almost a month!!!

I’ve used San Diego Fence twice. Once for a small job to replace a shared fence that needed to match the existing fence. Although we partially chose them because of the price, the quality and professionalism in each of the initial meeting for a quote, timeliness and accuracy of the quote and then the installation of the fence was excellent. So when I needed a much longer fence (and nicer — horizontal Redwood) I had 3 other companies that had good reviews on Unilocal in addition to SD Fence come out to bid. Well, SD Fence (and Bret) did it again. Super professional — super smooth process — and an amazing envy inducing fence. I’m so happy with my fence.
PS, I just went back to look at the other reviews, the one stars that cause them to have a overall lower rating. and 90% of them never even made it to the contract/​installation stage. I really wish people on Unilocal would not review companies if they have not actually gotten their service. It’s so misleading.

San Diego Fence Company did an outstanding job placing a fence in our condo complex so we could control the traffic to only residents. There quote was very comparative and reasonable. I worked with Scott and he made everything very easy from meeting me and listening to what I needed, quickly delivered a very understandable quote and was there to answer any questions I had. The construction of the fence was quick and exactly what we needed. I highly recommend them for any fencing jobs you need.

My experience with San Diego Fence Co. is pretty similar to others reviews on here, guy came out to give us a quote, despite two attempts and over a week of trying to reach the sales rep for the quote and promises I would get it that day, I gave up and went with another fence company who was far more professional. I guess if they want to keep themselves busy promising quotes that they never follow through on, they can try to keep their business afloat but the reputation will catch up to you.

Dear Don (the owner) — first off You have my contact information and are free to contact me. I have been asking for your contact information from «Jo» (aka Joanna, the office manager & accountant) and was not given it. That fact alone is warning enough. First off our check NEVER «bounced» and was NEVER returned. If Joanna is claiming that, that is unethical practice since she never received the so called «returned» check from the bank. Basically, Joanna lied to me to give her reason to charge my card, thus intentionally charging me TWICE, which is UNETHICAL. This whole situation started because all I asked Joanna to do was to double check with your bank the status of our check. Instead I was met with resistance and rudeness. Did Joanna also tell you that when this all happened I had just given birth three days prior and due to her rudeness reduced me to tears? I had to have my fiancée continue with the conversation where Joanna continued to yell at him and was unwilling to just listen.
You clearly have not been informed by your employees the entire situation. To be threatened with «District Attorney» actions is laughable when I inquired why we were being charged twice given that we HAD ALREADY provided a check before the agreed upon deadline and then was charged again? The fact that Joanna is threatening me with DA charges over an issue such as this is not only ludicrous but demonstrates how irrational she is.
Your employees, specifically Joanna, acted completely unethical and RUDE and I stand by that. Your employees sent the invoice to an incorrect email, they mis-​typed it. I had to call your office to inquire about the remaining balance and that’s when I discovered they/​accounting MISTYPED my email, all the while Robb your sales guy has been in contact with me via email with no issues since last year May so clearly your office made a mistake and are trying to pawn it off on me. Again, our check never «bounced», I checked with our bank. Your accountant was incompetent and did NOT do the basic due diligence to realize that the funds did not immediately deposit because it’s an international check, which by the way SHE WAS AWARE of when we dropped off the check. Had Joanna just listened to my request to inquire with your bank, she would have found out that on that same day the check was being processed, but the funds were available to your account yet given that it’s an international check and funds take longer to become available. This in no way meant our check «bounced» and your bank would have told Joanna that had she just made a simple call.
BASICALLY THIS ENTIRE SITUATION WAS CAUSED BY JOANNE’S RUDENESS, INCOMPETENCE AND UNWILLINGNESS TO MAKE ONE PHONE CALL.
If this is how you handle customer complaints by completely dismissing them then I rest my case.

we had a very positive experience with San Diego Fence Co. Their quite was competitive and they gave us exactly what we needed. Would it hesitate to do business with them again.

Went to go see these folks to get a quote.
I knew exactly what I wanted… exactly how many feet was needed… and since I had gotten estimates elsewhere already, knew everything they needed to know to give me a quote.
Yet when I asked for a «ballpark idea» of what it would cost, was told «$ 150,000». Mind you, we are talking about a fence that’s less than 300 ft, and should cost around $ 6000.
They were unprofessional, and rude! Don’t use them if you an possibly avoid it.

I want to make a heart felt thank you to SD Fence. We had a fence installed around our pool 18 (!) years ago as we moved in with four small children. I received a 20 year warranty in 1996 and it was funny, as I made a call for repairs, that the work order number system had changed and the employee who set up the bid had long since retired. Recently the fence gate mooring broke and the gate began to lean over terribly. San Diego Fence came out and fixed the fence, with a smile, and in so doing made for very happy customers.
As a firefighter, with peers throughout the county, I will refer SD Fence to my brother and sister firefighters as well as my large church. Customer service goes a long ways! Thank you, Bill Nigh

Great Quality and Speedy Contractor
I am a perfectionist and I supervise to the detail of my contractors’ work. These guys done exactly to the detail of what I told them to do. They passed my test!
San Diego Fence Company is one of the best contractors that I ever had, and I had a great number of contractors working for me before. I wish all my contractors were like them. I also had my share of incompetent contractors but San Diego Fence was awesome. I gave them a job to install new fences on my back border and on my right border, new gate on the right and fix the gate on the left, also repair the back of my left fence. They done all of that work in 3 days and they would do it in 2 days if they weren’t so busy fixing so many houses due to the latest storm which knocked down many fences.
The quality of their work is impressive. They cut exact geometric pieces to cover the old left fence’s knot holes for privacy and it looks very professional. The fences they installed is very superb, the posts were strong and the gates were well made and installed springs to self shut for the pool code.
Their prices are very reasonable and for the work they do, it is competitive. The most important factor that I liked about them was speed. At the same time I have 2 other crew working on remodeling my backyard and I am not happy with their speed but these guys really impressed me with their speed. They did jobs for 2 of my neighbors and they done a job for I and we are all satisfied with their quality, speed and the price of their work. I strongly recommend these guys as if not the best but one the best fence companies in San Diego.

I’ve had a chain link gate at the back of my house that had been damaged by a dog more than 10 years ago. I never seemed to find the time to deal with the hassle of having the material replaced.
This morning (Friday@ 9:30AM) I Googled «Fence» and came up with their number. One phone call to the main number the polite person that answered my call transferred me to Pat. I explained my situation and he said «Bring It Over, We’ll have it good as new in about an hour».
I lashed the gate to the top of my SUV, drove over, Pat let me into the yard, helped me unload the gate.
About an hour later, Pat called me back and said «It’s ready to go».
$ 27.00 Total Charge. Gate Looks Like New.
I’m totally satisfied!
P. S. Pat let me know that the repair would be under $ 30 when I dropped the gate off. He informed me that they don’t accept credit cards for purchases under $ 50.00. Sort of a strange policy for the 21^st century but these guys provide Old School Service.

San Diego Fence installed our ornamental iron gate and fences many years ago. Everything was great until our landscapers started propping open the gate while working. The hinge no longer automatically closed the gate, which concerned me since the gate leads to a pool. I called the company and they had someone out the next day and fixed the hinge for no charge!
A few months ago I saw their signs on all of the fences at PetCo park and was even more impressed that they responded to me so quickly.
Great workmanship and great service.

A fence these guys installed for the former owner of my house broke, and the came out and fixed it immediately with no charge and no hassles!

Contractor came out — nice guy — seemed professional. He was to give me 2 estimates.
I never got the estimates, which seems par for the course in San Diego (ie contractor comes out, never gets back to you)

We reviewed and compared the quality and punctuality in communication with every major Fence company in San Diego before submitting our request for bid.
San Diego fence won us over and their service has continuously improved in past 7 years. They have done 3 major projects for us. We wanted a customized Fence and gate. They built it exactly to our specification. The crew was on time and clean. The cost met our budget. Everyone proved to be cordial and professional.
At any occasion when we contacted Rob for design ideas, he perfectly listened to us and offered much better solution with both looks and cost. We had a privilege of meeting Don a senior member of the company and talked with Joann in accounts.
They have all been genuinely helpful and we feel absolutely satisfied with their workmanship and after installation support.

I am shocked at San Diego Fence Co. They were contracted to install vinyl fences (98 in all) in our HOA community and not only did the lattice sag at the top, they say it was normal (really!?), but they installed identical locks on every fence. They charged more for locks as apposed to latches, understandable, but when all the locks are opened by the same key!!! This means that anyone on my street can have access to my patio and its contents, thanks to San Diego Fence Co.
They did NOT offer a refund but a «discount» of $ 15 to get the locks rekeyed. I would like to know a locksmith in San Diego who will rekey two locks for that price.
If I could give them negative stars I would have.
Thanks, San Diego Fence Co, for giving this single mother with two small children the sense of false security. Shame on you for taking our hard earned money.
