I was surprised to see such a low rating. I just refinanced a car loan at a much better rate and very expeditiously. Every step of the way I was treated with courtesy, respect, and a smile. Jose squeezed me in and was able to help me close the loan perfectly. I run my own business and know the importance of good customer service. My experience has been nothing short of spectacular so far… thanks!

Before I write anything, let me say, I’m not a SDCCU customer and after my experience I probably would never be because of this branch, more specifically a single person who claimed to be veteran banker at SDCCU. Here is why;
I was in the process of selling my car to a very nice and easy going family that were SDCCU members and were trying to pay for the car thru the Auto Loan department of this branch.
Day 1: the amateur «loan officer» by the name of Bonney met with us and got their info to start the process. About 1.5 hours later after recovering everything, told us, can’t go further cuz she can’t access DMV (there must be a hold). Ok fine, I had to go on a trip, but both parties agreed to wait. She also claimed she gave me back my paper work, after I repeatedly told her that she didn’t, later realizing she left it all at the copier. Ok fine. It’s ok, it’s the holidays. I go on trip and have someone else go thru DMV during holidays and wait over 3 hours to be told it’s because of insurance and the title is still able to switch over to new driver. Ughh ok.
Day 2: after trip, I go back into bank with the buying members of SDCCU, and sit down with Bonney the «auto loan specialist». I explain to her, that’s it’s due to insurance since car is not being used but all fees are paid for and show her proof of DMV. She looks super confused. I try explaining what the paper work means so we can speed up the process but she decides to flip out on me telling me «I hate it when other people tell me how to do my job» ok fine I shut up but very aggravated at this point so is the other party. She finally received a call from her home office saying its because of insurance hold and it’s all good to go, there is no problem… THANK YOU! That’s what we were trying to tell her. We try to to close the deal but this women changes the interest rate that she previously stated on day 1 as I heard too and DENIED it!!! WHAT!?? By 1.6%!! So outraged are both parties at this time! The deal did not go through. She also ran us out of her office. Worst customer service ever experienced and worst banker, loan, auto Loan specialist I have ever crossed. We all walked out!
The family was so nice and continued to shop around and found another credit union that I will not disclose the name, but with better rates and finished the process in ONE HOUR!
This SDCCU branch is very unprofessional and frankly a waste of time as they wasted a full two days of ours. I highly suggest you avoid this branch.

Website to manage your money and bill payer is down about half the time I want to use it. Mobile deposit works about 10% of the time, app keeps crashing.
Website has been down for over 5 hours and counting (it’s 11am, not a maintenance window!!!). Can’t manage my account!
They want to be a big bank and offer WOW stuff, but it’s grown now to be Wells Fargo level of service (none).
Don’t care for the «investment advisor» pushing me to buy bonds as they are the SH#T and I can’t go wrong. Asking a few basic questions and the investment advisor is lost and doesn’t know.

24 hour banking (except when our system is down, during maintenance that starts at 10pm everyday, except when our site is down)

By far the worst credit union I have been a member of. I moved out of state and the process I have gone through to get a new ATM card or access and transfer any of the money I have in my SDCCU account has been ridiculous. Everything has to be done by mail because the information they have on the account to verify that I am who I say I am is wrong even though I personally updated it before I moved. If you need anything done on you account you either message them on their website and hope for a response or call and spend over 30min on hold waiting to talk to a representative. The first chance I get to visit San Diego I’m closing my account.

The RP Town Council has an account at SDCCU. The experience has been nothing short of inviting under the management of Jeff and his staff. Monday we made an appointment at 4:30 to change our signers with Bonney Poole who helped us with kindness, professionalism and understanding. Having an account like ours is unique for most institutions because we change our board monthly. Even though it took us a while to work out the glitches, she never seemed rushed to end her day. Jeff was also kind and helpful. I enjoy thinking local and being able to do business with SDCCU!

We’ve just completed our house refinancing with SDCCU. Started off with Jeff who provided a very good customer service. The whole process took about 6 weeks from start to finish. SDCCU does offer very competitive rates. Easy communication with loan officers during the process. So far, I give this credit union two thumbs up. I guess the only negative part, it seems like SDCCU will sell our mortgage to some other financial institution which is common in this industry.

worst service ever! jeff is racist and rood! i was thinking of getting an account but his attitude me not get one! he was really racis against mexicas’ who are the ones that use to slap him around in high school lol

I joined SDCCU a year and a half ago and brought my boyfriend and two coworkers over from big banks to the credit union and was very excited to make the switch. It’s been a disappointment.
From the beginning, I was given a coupon and told I will get $ 100 for opening my checking account because I saw them at a health expo and it was a special promotion. I was also told I would get free mugs for signing up with two other people. They were out of mugs and it was not $ 100 given automatically– u had to jump through hoops within a strict, short timeline.
I had a suggestion about the online billing that my credit union from home offers; I was told by a teller I had to attend an annual meeting to provide any feedback whatsoever, which I was later told by someone else wasn’t accurate.
What’s prompting this review now though, is another case of bad customer service. A month ago I called because I found two older checks and wasn’t sure if they were ever cashed. I use the app to deposit my checks and wasn’t sure if I had deposited them since I hadn’t written my typical note so I called sdccu and left a voicemail. I never got a call back so I tried to deposit the checks on the app remember it had informed me of a duplicate check in the past.
It’d been a month and I didn’t hear back so called yesterday and spoke with Regina T who said I had a $ 20 fee for the check being returned and more may come but she doesn’t know and can’t do anything about it anyway. I asked for a one time courtesy to drop the charge since they never returned my call and the app didn’t catch it. It took her 25 minutes of putting me on hold there times to talk to supervisor Janette to tell me no. She could have had the decency to not waste my time and tell me know from the beginning. Yes it’s my fault for trying to cash checks that I wasn’t sure hadn’t been deposited, but they should have returned my call as a member.
It’s been a disappointment since joining. I’d recommend looking into other local credit unions.

worst branch ever. They close their doors before. 6 pm on Friday I arrived at 5:59 and was shooed away by some guy with shoulder length brown hair trying to say things through the door from 10 feet away. And as I was talking turned and walked away. There is no contact for the branch manager anywhere I have never received such awful service from sdccu. This branch brings down the moral of the sdccu name. Terrible Customer service

Stay away from this branch. The staff that I delt with are nice enough, but they are unknoledible. Today I deposited a rather large check, and the teller told me I could enjoy a higher interest rate. I asked him if I would convert my savings account into a money market account. He said yes. And he was wrong.
Other than this singular experience, I really do like SDCCU. I have banked with SDCCU since I opened a joint savings account when I was 8 years old. They have treated me well and I have never been hit by hidden fees. They may not have many ATMs, but they do have a lot of partner ATMs which can be used for FREE! I suggest downloading their app to locate the nearest one instead of trying to memorize each partner.

I’ve only been with SDCCU for a short period of time but I have nothing but positive things to say about them especially the branch at Black Mtn.
I’m saddened to find that Luma has moved to a different location but she has been most helpful, courteous and thoughtful. She’s helped me recover from a Bankruptcy and she always gave her full attention whenever I called or visited –talk about someone who will go above and beyond to help!

We’ve banked with SDCCU for years and I have to say that this branch is one of their worst! My daughter deposited my son’s check into his acc and they put it in someone else’s acc entirely. When we came back in to question it they blamed us for it…
Recently my daughter and my wife cashed their checks, walked out of the bank and into Wells Fargo a couple doors down to make a deposit into an acc there. The Wells rep informed us that one of the $ 100 bills was a possible fake. We took the bill right back over to SDCCU to let them take care of the fake they gave us and they pretty much blamed us for it!
When we questioned that the manager was very rude (instead of understanding) and ignorant! He could’ve very nicely explained the fact that Banks and Credit Unions don’t have to take responsibility for their mistakes and that their customers are always to blame. So he kept the fake $ 100 and pretty much told us to leave. This guy is in the wrong position for a customer service company. He could’ve handled it much better then he did. The Assistant Manager wasn’t much better. Just a poor place to deal with from the top down!
On a good note… The tellers are very friendly and should be the only people allowed to talk to customers.

I just want to tell everyone about my great experience working with SDCCU and especially, Luma Hanna. I came in to apply for a car loan and she couldn’t have been more warm and welcoming. I applied for the loan, it was a very easy and painless process. And I was approved at what I thought was an excellent rate. I had to let the loan lapse because the car wasn’t available yet. I came back 4 months later, reapplied for the loan and got an even better rate. I was thrilled.
They have a great car buying service where they help you with all of the ins and outs of purchasing your car. A great way to go if you don’t like to wheel and deal.
Working with Luma was fantastic. She couldn’t have been more supportive and helpful throughout the process. I would absolutely recommend San Diego County Credit Union to all of my friends and family. And I would ask for Luma Hanna by name.

I’ve been an SDCCU member for over 10 years now and continue to enjoy the reliable service and customer care they offer. Staff have always been friendly and willing to go the extra mile for you. I’ve worked with a financial consultant from LPL who works in conjunction with SDCCU and thought that the service I received was great.
As the years go on, I love how SDCCU continues to grow and evolve to align themselves with the various technologies that are out there (online banking, bill payer plus, depositing checks via phone and mobile banking). The fact that this location is within walking distance from me is a giant plus!
