Some of the best tacos and nachos I have ever had. Overall the place was awesome and I couldn’t stop looking at all the stuff on the walls. I will be coming back.

Really awesome spot. Definitely a more hipstery mexican restaurant and located near all the beautiful art at Chicano Park, which you should stop by before or after eating here! During our visit, we tried various tacos(fish, carne asada, birria, al pastor, and carnitas), the ceviche(which is only available on saturdays), the mexican street corn, and of course the churros & ice cream dessert. Firstly, all of the tacos were very good, but my favorite would have to be the al pastor. Decently sized and very good flavor. The ceviche was GREAT! I love ceviche and order it at countless of places and I actually really enjoyed the ceviche a lot here. They give you a good amount and the shrimp is juicy. As for the mexican street corn, I am a HUGE lover of corn of all types, especially mexican corn. The mexican corn here is not bad at all. It is still very good, but the only thing I would have to say about it is that it can be overly cheesy for those who are not really into cheese. Before leaving this place, I suggest that everyone get the ice cream & churro dessert. It is definitely shareable and comes with 3 individual churros within the cup, with a generous amount of vanilla ice cream. It was wonderful! Overall, I would come back here if ever visiting Barrio Logan.

Can’t deny this is the place to be for Taco Tuesday! You seriously can’t go wrong with 3 tacos for $ 5 dlrs. The tacos are loaded with meat. My favorite two were the birria and al pastor. DELICIOUS! Salsas from the bar were also very good and fresh. I would’ve given this place a 5 star but i was a bit disappointed they didn’t have carnitas nor ice cream for one of their desserts on the menu. Will be back maybe as seen as next Tuesday.

So during my visit to Salud I enjoyed some tacos their Mexican corn and their homemade drink melon strawberry water. Overall the experience was very good I loved the different style from a regular Mexican food restaurant. It has a good vibe and good staff. The tacos that I tried were al pastor and asada only would say that the meat could be a bit more seasoned but salt is available. The al pastor had a pieces of fat which is always a thing about me I hate biting into it. The Mexican corn was heavy on cheese and not enough corn. I did like the mix in flavors as it came together. The upcoming menu is looking really interesting with some drinks that I would be very interested in(vampiro and hooch horchata) I’ll be back!

4 stars for the tacos(veggie), 3.5 stars for service, they were pretty nice, 2 stars for the street corn, not good. And 0 stars for all the flies in this place. I know it’s outdoors-ish, and we visited when the weather was warm but they really need to do something about all the flies. It made it really difficult to enjoy my food when I have to cover everything with a napkin and swat flies the entire time. I’m a little yucked-out by the salsa bar which was a buffet for the flies, and can only imagine what is going on in the kitchen. The veggie tacos were really yummy, and would like to go back, just want the place cleaned up a bit.

Why 3 estrellas? Because 2 stars for service and 4 stars for food. Truthfully, the people who work there are really professional, my only issue is that Salud closes at unexpected times. Ive visited 6 times, but have only been successful in finding them open 3 times. Once they closed as 2 groups, including mine, were arriving at 4pm. Why? Run out of food? Other than that, its a cool little joint. Its what I call a cholo-hipster take on Mexican food in the dead center of Barrio Logan. You can see that in their art displayed on the walls. Things ranging from lowrider bikes or beautiful religious imagery of the Virgen de Guadalupe. There is a huge mural in the restaurant! The heart of Salud is definitely in their tacos though, as an offshoot of an established family catering business, they def know what they are doing. The dough(masa) used for their tacos is amazing. The tortillas come out thicker than store bought tortillas. They’re rich with corn flavor. I had the carne asada tacos, they were awesome, tender and juicy. The taco del barrio is a must for traditionalists, but if you’re down, try their nachos. They are basically glorious greasy chips layered with lots of toppings. The chips are lard fried on the spot, all while you wait in line. The line was out the door on one occasion, I think it was Friday so totally expected. Go on Sunday or during the week. And expect to Lyft or Über or struggle with parking. The drinks are pretty good too. They have a badass agua fresca that looks bright af. Not sure how they pull that color off, but its delicious. The craft beer selection is excellent for its size, they have ales, IPAs, and occasionally a stout or porter. If you’re looking for Pacificos — my friend hates craft beer — they have those too. Check it out! Its good! But call first.

I’ve always wanted to try this place out when I hit up la bodega gallery for the art shows. I never got to try it cause the lines were always long. But I went to an art show recently and the lines at SALUD were actually small. So I decided to give it a try. I ended up ordering two fish tacos, Mexican style street corn, and ceviche. I wasn’t disappointed in my choices at all. The fish tacos were fresh and had a gourmet like taste. The corn was just absolutely delicious, I wish the portions were a bit more. The ceviche was amazing… it did have a nice hint of spice to it and you notice it with the after taste. Its a bit pricey but definitely worth it. The only down side that it’s «community» seating and it’s hard to get a seat since there is limited seating so just anticipate waiting a while for a seat. You would have to at least go with one other person to save a seat while the other person orders everything.

Nothing bad to say about this place, I just had higher hopes from all the hype. Growing up literally right above the border, my taco standard is quite high! I had the Birria tacos which were better tasting than my other choice which were the el pastor(adobada). Both were tasty but when it comes to getting my taco fix I’ll have to stick to my roots and stay in the Southbay.

If you’ve ever ate tacos from«the taco lady» this is equivalent to a brick and mortar standing restaurant. Tacos are fresh and tortillas are what make them stand apart. No substitutions but all ingredients are fresh and compliment the taco. Serve local craft beers to go with your meal.

Tacos simply done right and just absolutely delicious. Salud definitely knows how to make a great taco and I love that everything is made fresh right on the premises. With a simple and not overbearing menu, you can expect every item to be perfectly cooked. The carne Asada, birria, and chorizo tacos were great. Perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The meat tender, soft and not dry at all. Each taco came with the usual cebolla, cilantro, and a good amount of delicious guacamole. The quesadilla was also amazing. A great amount of melted cheese housed between a homemade corn tortilla. What can I say I’m a sucker for cheese. The tortillas chips were a big hit with my boy’s and they loved how they were made fresh that an order to go was a must. And yes by the time we got home not one tortilla chip survived the drive. Enjoy your food with an agua Fresca, a Coke in a bottle or enjoy your tacos with a flight of their beers. Yes you are in for a delicious meal. Don’t forget to check the art. This place has lots of it and with the open communal seating you can catch a glimpse of it from any angle.

I came here for Taco Tuesday and they have a 3 tacos for $ 5 deal. As soon as I arrived, the line was out the door which was to be expected. While standing in line, you can see the kitchen and that they handmake the tortillas. I ordered 2 al pastors tacos and 1 carne asada taco. The al pastors had a really deep smokey flavor to it but other than that, I found the tacos to be somewhat lacking… I did enjoy the housemade tortilla and salsa bar spread though.

I met up with a friend here for Taco Tuesday! Salud is located in a scarier part of the city, but I didn’t feel intimidated when I was in this area. On Tuesdays, you get 3 tacos for only $ 5, so I ordered the Barrio, Carnitas, and Al Pastor. She had the Pollo Asado, Carnitas, and Carne Asada. Since the tortillas are all hand-made to order, the tacos take a bit longer than other taco shops to get your food. While we were waiting, I checked out the salsa bar and got some pickled carrots, lime, and salsas. All the red salsas only have a medium spicy level, but one of them was particularly good. When our tacos were brought to us, I noticed how thick the tortillas were. The tacos were delicious and meat had lots of flavor! I’m glad we got there early because I saw a line forming when we were finishing up. The ladies working there were sweet and always smiling. I’ll be back to try some of their desserts next time, and of course, more tacos!

Deep within Barrio Logan lies a taco shop with awesome food, frescas and music. The restaurant is quite small and the line to order can be all the way outside. There are good amount of tables inside and they have couple more outside. Their salsa bar is on point and best paired with their really crunchy chips. We’ve tried a good variety of their meats and to me their birria is the real stand out. Watermelon fresca was so bomb, it was perfect with the hot and humid weather. My only gripe is that there’s only one cashier and waiting in line for more than 30 minutes is no bueno. Price wise it wasn’t bad, the meat to tortilla ratio was on point. I’d like to go back to try their daily specials! Especially during Taco Tuesdays and their jumbo rolled tacos on Fridays: D

Everything I look for in a taco joint! Fresh handmade corn tortillas Special frescas of the day(We had watermelon and it was heavenly.) Perfectly seasoned fillings.(So far I had the carne asada, fish, chicken asado, carnitas and the al pastor. I loved them all but that al pastor and fish truly grabbed my full attention.) Craft beer on tap Mexican cola, non-alcoholic sangria and jarritos were available Dope carefree, sexy with an edge ambiance DOPEARTEVERYWHERE. Good music blasting Definitely added this place to be the top five to visit whenever I am in town.

The TACO obsession continues… it started off when I was 5 and I all I wanted was tacos. My parents would ask me «baby gurl what do you want to eat?» and I would respond«I WANTTACOS!» haha. But seriously it was Sunday morning and I woke up craving Tacos. I was tempted to go to a local taco place, but I decided to venture out a bit. I picked up my bf from the airport and we headed to Barrio Logan for some tacos at Salud. I knew as soon as I saw smoke coming out of the window that we were in store for some good tacos(Mexican style). YES– Salud has some of the best Carne Asada tacos in San Diego– man I feel like I just recently wrote that about another taqueria! Keep them coming SD :) they all make me so happy :) We must of gotten lucky because there was no wait when we walked in — you could see a line forming on and off while we were there. I’ve heard this place gets pretty busy. Their regular menu consists of carne asada, carnitas, birria, al pastor, pollo asado and a few others. They also have different specials that change daily. Depending on the day you might find tacos de cabeza or lengua on the menu among other things. Nice thing about Salud is that they have beer! Beer on draft and bottles. I decided to order two carne asada tacos and one birria. The carne asada tacos were perfection, served with guacamole, cilantro and onion– nothing more, nothing less. I of course sprinkled them with some lime juice and in they went– into my mouth. The tortillas are delicious hand made in house– yummy que rico! I also had a birria taco which was served with lettuce, onion and queso cotija. Traditionally you don’t put lettuce on your carne tacos but it worked on this one– I think it’s due to the cotija cheese and the fact that the birria taco is served on a slightly crunchy tortilla. Maybe they are going for more of a crunchy taco? Who knows but it was good! My bf had the al pastor and the birria — he loves al pastor and approved of Salud’s el pastor offerings. I have just one comment and that is the music– they had a DJ there on Sunday playing great songs no complaint but it was just too loud. Impossible to hear– I believe they call it «Crudo Sundays»(Hungover Sundays) but honestly who wants to go anywhere were they are blasting music while you are crudo/cruda(hungover) — just sayin :) All in all great tacos, not the best atmosphere on Sundays but I plan to come back!

Salud SD: Barrio Logan Taco Tuesday 25th August 2015 All of the Stars Located in no scary part of Bario Logan, Salud is a hip, fun, no nonsense Mexican food place. It has daily specials. It was Taco Tuesday which means you get 3 tacos for $ 5 instead of the usual $ 2.50 per taco. My first order was Al Pastor, Carnitas, and Taco de Barrio. My second round of tacos were 2 lingua, and Birria. The tacos were simple and street style. They use fresh masa tortillas were thick, soft, and exactly the way they should be. All of the meats were superbly seasoned and extra moist. Beware: eating these tacos will be messy, have napkins ready. My favorite was the Al pastor. The wait staff were three beautiful, ultra-friendly women who make sure everybody was happy and taken care of.

What can I say? These are tacos done right! I feel that anyone that can appreciate a good taco would agree with me. The place itself is open and simple with mainly communal bench seating. I really like the art, day of the dead and low rider décor which is fitting for the area. The menu is basic and not overbearing like a typical taco shop that has 100 items on the menu. I ordered a carna asada, carnitas and veggie(soyrizo) taco with thick house made corn tortillas. All delicious! Even the veggie taco was good :) Oh and those tortillas are stupid good! Salsa bar was legit with six different salsas to choose from. I’m looking forward my next visit which will be on a Sunday to try their white menudo. Great job Salud!

1. Taco tuesday 3 tacos for $ 5. Ordered birria, pollo and carne asada, carne asada was my favorite. Pollo was good too though but I’ve had better birria. 2. Be prepared to wait in a little dinner line. 3. The place has limited seating when it’s crowded. 4. Fresh tortillas. 5. Recently tried the fish tacos. They’re pretty good. Next to the carne asada they’re my favorite.

Jajajaja yo fácilmente me comería 5! Y eso que soy mujer :-$(se supone que las mujeres comemos poquito. Pero no todas:”’(yo soy una de las que come como hombre) bueno esperó pronto regresar y disfrutar de sus ricos tacos.
