History

Established in 2007.

I earned a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from SDSU in 1990. I worked at two engineering firms until I realized it wasn’t me. I got my Real Estate Appraisal License in 2001 and started an appraisal company. I enjoyed the appraisal business, but the crash and the subsequent laws now restricts interaction with clients. This impacted my livelihood.

To supplement– I got a Real Estate License in 2007 to write home loans and real estate transactions for family and friends. However, I continue to use my appraisal knowledge today to help folks get the best appraisal value for their homes.

My father passed in 2010. Unbeknownst to me, he had a Reverse Mortgage. We sold his house (the house I grew up in) and went on our way. This was when I realized that the reverse mortgage was a fair deal for him. I had always thought it was a scam and didn’t know much about it.

I immediately joined a firm that specialized in reverse mortgages. It was there that I discovered the real power of the program.

Richard specializes in Reverse Mortgages. He spends most of his day educating folks to help them determine if a Reverse Mortgage is the right choice.

He has been originating home loans since 2007. And, he has been a licensed real estate appraiser since 2001. He has specialized in FHA’s Reverse Mortgage Program (HECM) since 2010. Richard also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from SDSU.

Richard is a member of NRMLA (National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association). And, he earned the designation CRMP (Certified Reverse Mortgage Professional) in 2014.

The CRMP professional designation is awarded to someone who has demonstrated superior knowledge and competency in the area of reverse mortgages and dedication to upholding the highest ethical and professional standards. Today there are only 101 individuals with this designation in the country.
